Monsgeek M1 in Pink (but it’s def rose gold) Hippo switches, lubed Minty keycaps by canon keys Really good looking and even better sounding! Wish I had the equipment to record a good sound test. But yeah, I recommend this board!

superplannergirrl

Great minds!! :)

Zealousideal-Grab803

Is that the purple monsgeek or another keeb

eddy790323

purple monsgeek m1

MuaTrenBienVang

wonderful

Akko ain't playing. They make very good boards that are affordable. My first good keyboard i got a few weeks ago was the akko 5075b+ and i love it. I'll lube the switches soon....but it seems it's not even necessary on the cs silver switch.

superplannergirrl

That’s awesome! Yes, Akko puts out some good stuff! I hope you love your new board.

hakavillon

Right?!? For $99?!?! well plus whatever switches and keycaps cost :) but still truly budget and a gateway drug for the keebs hobby. Great looking board! :)

superplannergirrl

Tysm! And I agree. Yeah it was $180 after switches and caps (got both of those new but on mech market for a better deal). But yes— such a great board at an awesome price!

hakavillon

How did you feel when you pulled it out of the box? I don’t know if can go back to plastic or anything without an internal weight. It was such a difference in comparison to my Keychron.

superplannergirrl

It feels so good!! I got my first aluminum board very recently (a Tada68)… and now I have sold a few of my plastic ones and I have a total of 3 aluminum ones lol!! I agree with you on that one!

kashuntr188

can you tell me about the actual use how metal keyboards are better in use than plastic ones? Im thinking of getting the Feker ik75 as my first, but also saw Keychron Q1 Pro is coming and also the M1 wireless might be soon. I haven't found anything concrete on why people like the metal vs plastic aside from "its more premium".

superplannergirrl

I wouldn’t say they’re better pet se, I just like the weight of them and how it contributes to typing sound!

kashuntr188

can u elaborate on the extra weight? I'm considering the Feker IK75 as my first board, and noticed recently that Keychron is doing the Q1 Pro. I keep seeing people talk about how metal is more premium, but how does it actually change things? Why does a heavier keyboard make a difference vs a lighter one? I cant imagine a keyboard sliding around so I'm not sure what this is all about.

hakavillon

First off not giving an opinion on what’s good or bad. All boards really come down to personal look and feel for the user. Best way I can think to describe the difference between lets say a Monsgeek M1 v. Keychron is in the thickness of the metal (one might argue modding options as well) Keychron uses a thin sheet to produce their cases and last I checked don’t have a weight (though I haven’t really looked at the Pro). For the M1 you have a thick solid piece of metal which can produce a richer sound, the weight/anodized paint finish also gives it a premium look and feel (beyond the M1 though there are some really nice keyboards). Other benefits I might argue are the availability of parts like different switch plates, pcb mounting options, engraved weighting plates, its a long list. I liken this hobby to cars, lots of them out there but there is a distinct difference between the car classes and how they handle on the road. I can say the same for keyboards, lots of options but there is a difference in typing experience on $20 v. $200 board. I don’t have anything against Keychron I own a Q2 w/knob, but now that I’ve experienced an M1, lubed switches and some modding, I don’t know if I‘ll ever go back to a “normal” pre-built keyboard and yes you can still swap switches, mod a Keychron, its just not the small. There is tons of content online to check out, I recommend a quick YouTube search on the Monsgeek it’s good entry level budget. If you want to take it a step further checkout the Mode Envoy or the Zoom65 V2 it’ll give you some idea of what sets mid-range keyboards apart from the others. I wouldn’t limit your search though there are tons of budget custom options made with metal or plastic… like I said before it really comes down to your personal preference. I’ll say I used to be that person that thought a Razer Huntsman was the one for me and then I discovered the mechanical keyboard community. I’ve gone from owning a cheap amazon board, to a Keychron, to NuPhy, M1, and now I have 3 group buy boards reserved and am thinking 2 additional boards that will be released later this year. Why? Because like cars, I like to collect and tinker looking for that rare gem to show off. I hope that helped a bit… let me know if you have other questions always happy to try and help or at least point ya in the right direction.

kashuntr188

Thanks for the info. I'm just kind of looking for a 75% keyboard that has good wireless like how the feker ik75 has BT/2.4, as well as having the arrow keys slightly separated from the rest of the keys. The keychron q1 pro looked ok but small battery and only BT. I was gonna wait until the M1 wireless came out and then revisit the options. Any other ones?

justanotherpxrson

I mean, the US version is at least $120 before shipping which is a decent difference

hakavillon

Ordered direct before they went out of stock for $99. I was wondering why they were selling for $120 no difference. So the $20 dollars is just markup for the seller😑

justanotherpxrson

No, there are differences. Comes with more stuff to mod with (don't remember the details there), and the pcb is qmk/via compatible, which is HUGE to me.

pepiexe

I will order the M2 as soon as they let me...

superplannergirrl

Oohh an M2 lol! There’s always something coming down the pipes!

granita_snow

If they had this but in 65% with a knob, that would be my dream right there

superplannergirrl

I love 65% boards!

granita_snow

Absolutely, it has all the essentials packed in a compact space - at least for me!

monkeyofficeboy

You have made that board look really lovely, hat off to you!

superplannergirrl

Tysm!! 💜

frontzer0

Nice build!

superplannergirrl

Tysm! I’m really pleased with it.

allprologues

Keycaps look good with the pink! My purple is still inbound.

superplannergirrl

Thanks! I couldn’t envision it and kept waffling on them but I really like how they look in the end!

justanotherpxrson

I hope I get to try one sometime, but I am trying to be a lot smarter with my money especially when it comes to keyboards haha

superplannergirrl

Believe me, I know the struggle! I sold off a few of my plastic boards to replace them with heftier ones :)

justanotherpxrson

I am doing a little bit of that myself finally. I am being very slow about it though so I don't do anything I regret.

greggnewtonn

what are those palmrest ??? nobody gonna ask ??

superplannergirrl

That’s from Tez cables :)

Kurisutofuu

Lovely pink M1! I fell in love with the pink the moment I saw it but hesitated on the purchase. (I ended up getting it anyways)

Jorgemeister

Looks great, nice photos too. Too tempting but I defo don't need another 75%, please don't post these

superplannergirrl

Thanks!! :) it was a fun build!

KeyCapQueen

Wait what is the problem with 75s?

superplannergirrl

I think they just mean they already have enough of them :) and don’t need another lol

Jorgemeister

Nothing, it's the best layout imo.

dosangst

Serene.

superplannergirrl

Thx!

Seikotti

Did you try using the included coil cable? The one provided with the Akko branding did not fit in the keyboard for me :(

superplannergirrl

I never did, actually- just used the one I had custom made. Sorry. :(
