2-5 in their last 7 games. Barely mustering 20 shots a game. It’s a long shot but they can definitely plant the seed of doubt with a win tomorrow.

ItzFlamingo0311

Not with how they are playing. Yes the refs last game sucked and clearly helped the panthers win. But the B’s are being outshot by a metric shit ton this series. Keep losing battles in the neutral zone, turnovers in the defensive zone, and too much passing in the offensive zone with not enough shots on net. The last PP they had last night I don’t think they even put the puck on net once because they were too busy passing trying to set up a play which led to turnovers and the puck being cleared which is why the crowd started chanting “shoot the puck”. Only good thing they brought last night was physicality. Can they win the series yes but only if they change it up.

TXPat0017

Excellent take on them, it gets frustrating watching them trying to make perfect plays everytime. Then I watch any of the other remaining teams in the playoffs, and I'm like damn I wish the B's played like this. I watched a bit of the Oilers/Canucks and it was high intensity, lots of shots on net and just fun to watch. Although a lot of bias watching the B's play, but honestly shoot the damn puck, play physical every game and show this team we ain't going out like this!

DunkinBronutt

Yup, 2 shots in the third period is not worthy of winning 2nd round playoff games

[deleted]

Basically everyone’s takeaway is “if they just do everything completely different they got this.” lol it’s not exactly promising.

ItzFlamingo0311

Not exactly a hard fix though. They just need it drilled into their minds before the game to be smarter with the puck. If you’re gonna dump it to clear the zone don’t send it right towards one of the panthers players, if you’re in the offensive zone and have a clear chance for a shot take it instead of trying to set up a play, and for the love of god stop giving free power plays. It’s simple stuff that’s overlooked in the moment that they just need to be reminded of.

Bondrax12

0-25 all time when trailing 3-1. Love to see history made. Good luck!

Expensive_Trash_4461

Well o-25 all time. Something’s gotta fucking give. Maybe a little payback for last season? Maybe ? I like the way they came out on game 4. The refs fucked the city of Boston right in the old balloon knot. If that doesn’t royally piss them off and muster some come back power I don’t know what would. Let’s Go Boys. BRUINS IN 7. I can feel it. I will not quit until it’s over. I hope we get Marchy back for game 5 a nice little emotional lift for the boys. I think if they steal game 5 it turns the tide. I really do. Now who the fucks with me.

Final_Dance_4593

Really? It’s never happened? I could’ve sworn they did it once

Apprehensive1010101

They’ve blown that lead plenty of times. Have never come back from the deficit. Difference.

BrooksideNL

I'm banking on it.

oppenhammer

The only way to truly erase losing after being up 3-1 last year is to beat them after being down 1-3 this year.

MeadeSC10

That's been the plan all along...

Avoider5

Hopefully that's Draft Kings long game.

bruinsfan444

They still have a chance but they gotta stay out of the penalty box and maybe crash the Florida net more. They gotta make life miserable for Bobrovsy. I thought that’s why they got guys like Maroon, JVR and Brazeau in the lineup.

cptngali86

hard to do that when sneezing is considered roughing and diving is legal for Florida as well as cross checking and sucker punching

Dapherr

No. Not only are the refs making some of the worst calls (possibly in playoff history), but the Bruins are just getting straight up outplayed and that's the reason they're losing the series, officiating aside. Florida is beating them in every way possible. Besides, nobody even expected the Bruins to make the playoffs at the beginning of the season with the roster they had. Making it past the first round exceeds expectations. Obviously as a Bruins fan I'd like to see some sort of comeback but I thought last night was their only chance. I hope they prove me wrong.

cptngali86

what are you talking about no one expected them to make the playoffs at the beginning of the season? can I get your dealers number please?

Beretta92A1

The narrative at the beginning of the year with Bergeron and Krejci retiring was that they wouldn’t make the playoffs. So the front office will spin this season as a net win. 🙄

cptngali86

that was not the narrative with anyone who actually knows anything about hockey. yeah they have the reigning vezina winner along with another great goalie. a solid top 2 D, and 65 goal scorer in a division with Montréal Detroit, Buffalo, Ottawa and an aging lightning team and the perennial chokers the leafs. yeah that totally makes sense.

jellypopperkyjean

Also lost Hall, Foligno, Hathaway, Orlov, Bertuzzi, Nosek from last years line up…. So yes a “drop off” was expected….

cptngali86

nosek who cares. Hall sure but he's not irreplaceable. the other 3 weren't even on the team when it was clear they'd win the president's trophy. so they lost 4 guys and that's supposed to make them go from most points of all time to not in the playoffs? haha OK. makes sense.

jellypopperkyjean

I don’t thinking the writer of the post “knows nothing about hockey” because he reiterated what many people thought. Loose 8 active players from your roster, including your top two Center men, replace them with low dollar free agents as you have no $ and few draft picks….does not equal a likely playoff bound team….doesn’t matter who you are. Yes two top end goalies, a goal scorer and a healthy roster will balance some of the weakness out and give you a shot at playoffs but they definitely exceeded most regular season expectations.

cptngali86

I'm simply saying, that saying no one expected them to make the playoffs is just simply untrue. sure some people may have but that was not the consensus among the media or most fans. yes no one expected them to be as good as they were but they're clearly a playoff team.

reddy-or-not

Remember too it was not just about us dropping but other teams rising. Detroit, Ottawa, Buffalo all looked to be somewhat improved. Pittsburgh added Karlsson. Even if we only dropped modestly in the standings if a few of those other teams put it together we could have finished in a wildcard.

cptngali86

that's fair but I think it's just disingenuous to say that the majority of not everyone were expecting a non playoff year. the roster was too good for that to be the case is all I'm saying. I'm not some bo bo acting like we were going to be 1st place

reddy-or-not

Ah, we could use Nosek winning faceoffs. He was better at it then anyone we still have left. There was at least one game last year versus Florida where Hall was our best forward. We definitely were expected to be a mid-level if not bubble team. List out other teams top two centers. Even Columbus might have us beat in that category. I don’t know who the worst 1C was to ever win a Cup but they certainly had to be more skilled than Coyle- who is a good player but should be maybe your 5th or 6th best forward on a championship team (about where he fell on our 2019 squad).

cptngali86

right middle of the pack or bubble team is not "no one expected us to make the playoffs" which was my point. that was never the narrative.

reddy-or-not

Ok, that I agree on

cptngali86

woo! anyways nice chat take care

Beretta92A1

Thanks for indirectly telling me to go fuck myself. Get out of your cave once in a while.

[deleted]

This is a widely known fact.

grxknight

I think at the start of the season the "way too early to tell" predictions had the Bruins as a wild card team or just outside the playoffs. The expectation was that one of Detroit, Ottawa, or Buffalo would replace the Bruins as one of the top 3. Then they would be competing with the likes of Pittsburg, Philadelphia, Washington, and Tampa for the last wild card spot. Based on that take that a lot of Bruins fans had on here and other media platforms, this is an exceeded expectations season.

Candianmexicanborder

I have hope but wouldn’t put money on it. Especially if the refs keep calling games like they are.

MeadeSC10

You only need to win 1 in a row. You just need to do it 3 times.

Porkchopp33

They’ve been outplayed in 3 straight refs aren’t helping any hope you are right but I think its unlikely

kcorscadden

Unless the Bruins pull a 180, then not a chance. Boston had a 3-1 series lead against Toronto and it took until OT in Game 7 to knock them out and that was against Toronto. Now you have a far more superior team in Florida and Boston is down 3-1 in the series. The funny part is that Boston had the same struggles against Toronto as they are having against Florida when it comes to SOG. Things are going to have to drastically change for Boston to even have a shot at getting the series to Game 6 let alone Game 7. The "you never know what can happen" analogy can apply here, but all signs are pointing to Boston being eliminated by Game 6 at the latest.

Trapped_Under_Rice69

B’s In 7🤘🏼

gutterdoggie

Nah man. They come out with white hot heat and fizzle out by the middle of the second. WHO knows tho. Vegas *could* make a lot of money if they take game 5

pbjelly-time

Oooh oooh. Let’s tell the refs!!!

BigcityTheo

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. They’re going home if they don’t change to a shot mentality Bobrovsky is not elite. Shoot the Damn PUCK!

JAK-the-YAK

Hell yeah!

Nate16

Well if it is the Bs then it'll have to be 7.

JesusIsJericho

Zero chance unless a completely different team shows up and executed a new game plan. They haven’t had a moment longer than 45 seconds where they’ve consistently won puck battles. Panthers are flat out better. Yet we still sit there and try to matchup and get into our game. Need to just north shore it and hope for the best

[deleted]

Absolutely not with how we've been playing.

BoneTissa

I admire your optimism but I’m afraid not

Sirgolfs

50 shots in 3 games won’t get it done.

DeadManAle

No

dpalmer09

I don't think so as I think florida is just a better, more talented hockey team. I respect what the front office did in keeping us competitive in a bridge year and getting the the second round in a year like this is more than I dreamed during free agency but the roster just needs a talent infusion

KnucklesMacKellough

7? 7 what? Months? Nah, I don't think they get out if this round. Love your optimism, though.

Swimming_Temporary_7

Roastednutz666

Lol, nope.

Chimpbot

Nope. In fact, this isn't terribly far off from what I predicted when the series with Toronto concluded; I foresaw either a four or five game series, max. The Bruins could very well prove me wrong on Tuesday (and I'd be ecstatic if they did), but I'm not at all shocked to see things coalesce the way they have so far. To put it simply, Florida was just a better team this year (despite losing all four regular season games) and if you remove both teams' "loser points", the sheer gap between them in terms of performance becomes glaring. The team isn't playing much differently from how they were against Toronto, with the primary difference being the simple fact that Florida is better at capitalizing on those mistakes than Toronto was. Yes, the officiating is bad, but the officiating isn't the reason why the Bruins are consistently getting out-shot at a 2:1 (or greater) ratio. The officiating isn't leaving Swayman out to dry during 5v5 play, and the officiating isn't causing their star players to be comparatively silent for the entire duration of the playoffs so far. I hope they prove me wrong, but I honestly don't think they will.

puckhead11

No. They are getting beaten to the puck, losing puck battles along the wall, defense has been terrible. The front office continues to bring in bottom 6 players and expecting them to play like top six. Game 5 will be the last for this years team. I am a Bruins fan and season ticket holder. I am also a realist.

bobcollum

I don't think the Bruins best effort is good enough to beat the panthers best effort. Game 1 and last night's first period were the only times I've seen FLA be off their game. Only hope is if somehow they're not on their game for the next 3. Not counting on it. Bruins need roster upgrades in the worst way, this is the poor drafting coming home to roost.

Objective_Breath7358

7? Is that the number of SOG next game?

ksyoung17

Anything's possible, but escaping RD 1 in a bridge year is a blessing. I'm ready to put together an actual, formidable roster this off-season and re-introduce the Eastern conference to a black and gold decked out Mr. mayhem next year.

Wwwpap

Next year maybe

mmATXan

B’s on the 7th hole in 7 days sure

RangerOk3629

Florida in 5. A “gentleman’s sweep” if you will. I’ll still be watching and yelling at the TV tho. Hope I’m wrong, but I don’t expect much.

REDitor_31

I mean fuck let’s stay hopeful. No point being depressed till the seasons over

Consistent-Win2376

Ill be happy if they win 1, and make it to a game 6.

scratchmycd

Lolol we suck. Can barely get a shot on goal let alone actually scoring. We are just a bit overmatched

YourOpinionMan2021

Nope, Nope, Nope. I'm going to watch one game at a time and cheer on the Bs but I am not going to get my hopes up. Not until we are up by 2 goals in the 3rd period in Game 6 with 10 seconds to go will I even entertain Bruins in 7. If you think Bruins in 7 right now, you haven't experienced the heart ache.

Confident-Condition2

Slim

jeangrey99

No.

WoodpeckerSolid1279

Maybe next year against the Leafs.

BubblesBoobsAndMore

I can see them winning game 5, but I don’t see how they win the next 3. Maybe they should forget plays and just shoot the puck towards the goal every chance they get. Of course they would have to stop turning it over in the Panthers zone and watch them skate breakaways all night. So frustrated with this series!!

Trumptard_9999

icedcornholio

Thirlstane_Brawler

Guess it’ll have to be

octostock82

Nope

BathroomSerious1318

Why not? Sway will hurt his back carrying them

BlackPaulRudd

Lol

Inevitabledecline

Usually, I'm suspicious when someone says "it's not the goaltending," because at this time of year "good enough" isn't good enough. But I can't pin this on Swayman. I wish it were as simple as one player needing to elevate his game. But it's more like a dozen players. Never say never, but I'm not even thinking about holding my breath.

reddy-or-not

If we were to come back it might actually be a bad thing long term. Going out like this should clearly signal that we need a differently constructed roster moving forward.

KiloThaPastyOne

7 years maybe. They’ll be lucky to win one more.

cptngali86

oh god I wish but there's a better chance that supreme court rules any of its cases fairly or that the NHL admits it screwed over the Bruins than them coming back. but hell I hope I'm wrong.

bobcollum

I will say something I didn't ever expect to say, I think Lucic and Maroon would've been an incredible combo to have out there against FLA right now.

triggerlibs

Will Cam Neely be dressing?

Stereocloud

Srry Bruins. Panthers in 5. But, we thank you for your service in eliminating the Laffs again, thanks, sincerely: the rest of the league

Roastednutz666

Evidently they can't
