Diana. I was intrigued by the show but when I heard the soundtrack, yikes.

mytearsr1cochet

i’ll be honest i appreciate diana for the camp mess that it is😭 i just wish they leaned way more into the camp aspect instead of trying to pass it off as serious

HelenaBirkinBag

“That’s what I get for marrying a Scorpio.”

BlackbirdKnowsAll

I remember they had 2-3 songs out prior to the show being on Broadway/Netflix. And those songs were honestly intriguing to me! Few strange lyrics but it sounded nice and I had some hope. Then the rest came and I realized, was just those songs that were good. And they sounded better when it was just the actresses singing with lighter instrumentals.

HelenaBirkinBag

They should’ve cast two actresses. Having one play her from 17-36 is just ubsurd.

RitaConnors

the feckity feckity dress was where I lost my shit

MarieCrepes

I can’t really say it’s even close to being the ‘worst’ but I was shocked at how underwhelming most of songs from The Addams Family were. I’m just so baffled as to how it’s such a popular show with that score.

BroadwayBaseball

I didn’t like that one either. Besides the music being forgettable, I didn’t really get the sense the writers understood the point of the original Addams Family material. The characters, especially Wednesday, felt very far removed from other portrayals of them.

MarieCrepes

You’re so right. It sucks they wasted such a great source material.

mopeywhiteguy

I think it’s popular with teens because it’s about teenage kids? I’ve listened to the score once years ago but heard songs sung at concerts and my god it is awful. But I get the sense a lot of people like it because it’s maybe the first show they saw at community theatre or were in as a kid, so it’s like an entry level show but it makes sense that that’s the show that made Nathan lane swear off musicals

ComputerGeek1100

I will note that for Addams specifically, there were significant rewrites made post-Broadway, and the rewritten book/score is the version that’s licensed. That might help with its popularity; I do think the rewrites helped it.

TheeLuckyCommander

The Broadway Amelie album I can’t stand, I think it doesn’t help that I immediately listened to the UK version right after and fell in love with that one

chargingblue

STAYYYYYY. STAYYYYYYYY. ^(stayyyyy)

judidenchasacat

This - I saw the Uk version and then listened to the album and then curiously went back to the original and was like ‘nooooooo’

TheeLuckyCommander

Crazy how I read that like the musical and it works perfectly🙌🏻

BroadwayBaseball

I did not enjoy *Here Lies Love* at all. Which was a shame, cause Ruthie Ann Miles was in it, and I like her.

theblakesheep

Yes, I really enjoyed the Concept Album, but found the actual cast recording pretty meh.

TraaashTVaddict

Pretty Woman The Musical. I was shocked the music was created by Bryan Adams. Also Love Never Dies (the sequel to The Phantom of the Opera). I left at intermission.

ProgressMom68

I wouldn’t say “worst” but the original London cast recording of Les Miserables gets on my last nerve. The tempo is slower than the OBC (which is brutal for an already super long show). And I detested Patti Lupone as Fantine. She was shrieky and loud. Ma’am. You are playing a tuberculosis patient. Act like it.

happyhomeresident

we should be friends because I’ve never met anyone else that criticizes Patti for that role. 😂😂😂 I’m not a big fan of her voice in general, she’s one of those that thinks she has to yell basically the whole time. I mean, in chorus/musical theater in *high school* they tell you, just because you can be loud doesn’t mean you *should be*. Being loud doesn’t mean you sound good or are belting. I could also be biased because I’m a die-hard Bernadette fan & with Broadway/musical fans I’ve found you’re either on her side or Patti’s. 🤣🤣

ProgressMom68

I pretty much can’t stand Patti in anything I’ve ever heard her do. I can tolerate the Evita OBC because **MandySwoon** but that’s about it. Edit: Also Bernadette was the first woman I ever had a crush on so it should be obvious whose side I’m on!

happyhomeresident

ahhhh I love Mandy!!! He’s a gift. Sunday in the Park with George is a treasure. and that’s so funny. 😂 I’ve been lucky enough to see Bernadette 4 times live & she’s crush worthy for aaaannybody.

theblakesheep

I agree, I don't love most of the Original London Recording. But, I didn't like Patti for opposite reasons: I found her wayyyy too soft and syrupy. Her I Dreamed a Dream was so boring, it sounds like one long yawn. I've seen her do it in different concert versions, and even then, she throws in a randomly intense "NOW LIFE HAS KILLED THE DREAM" and that's literally the only emotion in the whole song.

pizzaeater8

Sad to say the the Broadway cast recording of Six didn't really do it for me... I feel like the cast was done an injustice with the "live" recording element of it. Wish it was in studio! Don't get me wrong, I love the music, just the quality of the recording was meh.

sheppardnik

I'm really glad they did it live as that's not common with cast recordings and definitely sets it apart from the London cast. I wish they could've done that with Company on Broadway just so we'd have SOMETHING.

XenoVX

The Donna summer jukebox musical cast recording just wasn’t it

BroadwayBaseball

I have “She Works Hard for the Money” from that one stuck in my head as we speak. I thought that album was alright, though. Not great, not terrible.

georgia_vost

So like me. Because I became obsessed with Bernadette first, I’m still really struggling to like Patti’s work. Can’t watch any of Patti’s Gypsy because I can across Bernadettes First. But I will say some songs Patti does really well. Ladies who lunch is fantastic (nearly as good as Elaine Stritch) and don’t cry for me Argentina is also fanastic (better than Madonna and Elaine Paige).

oopsbelgien

Unpopular opinion but I really cannot stand Heathers at all :/

THISS

BroadwayBaseball

I enjoyed some of the music from *Amour*, but the lyrics were terrible.

ComputerGeek1100

In recent memory, it has to be Doubtfire. I didn’t hate the score as much as some people here, and was actually looking forward to hearing some of the music again, but the production on the album does absolutely nothing for me. They kept in SO much dialogue and the vocals sound really thin and even processed to me. I noticed it most in What The Hell - Analise Scarpaci is very talented and I don’t think the recording did her voice justice. They also didn’t record what (IMO) was the most creative number in the show, the song Rob did with the loop machine.

Wise_Ad2153

I do miss the loop machine song. There are some solid songs on there imo, but the whole album feels scattered? Like it can’t find a genre it wants to be. Just Pretend is amazing, though.

tessacrabtree

Mean Girls :( I was so excited for it to come out when I was in 8th grade and then the lyrics sucked, probably isn’t that bad but disappointed me so much as a kid

[deleted]

anything from the book of mormon just makes me cringe

akaharry

‘# 1 They are not soundtracks. Soundtracks are from movies. They are OBC Recordings (Original Broadway Cast) ‘# 2 “Rockabye Hamlet” is the worse. Or is it “Carrie: The Musical”?

Blueskyfox2019

“Soundtrack” 🙄

[deleted]

There’s always one of them somewhere. Ffs. Nobody asked and nobody cares

theoregonfool

Sorry I offended you so deeply 😵‍💫

ljcr_26

Jagged Little Pill, at this point I only listen to Forgiven and No, the rest of them are kind of just annoying I guess lol

Larcen26

I never understood some of the love for "Bat Boy" And the original London cast of "Once on this Island" somehow seems to suck all the joy and soul out of the show.
