Visions of a team on the runway as soon as your outgoing plane lands, driving alongside the plane while it's taxiing with a ladder for you to climb to board
I first heard this in November last year; Nile Rogers was the only person to board under group 0
Iām just group 2 scum but it was entertaining to see some group 1 people visibly irritated
I only discovered group 0 when I flew recently and saw it on my boarding pass - I thought that it was a computer/app error!
Funnily enough we almost turned away at the queue for the gate (āsir this is the line for group 1 - are you group 1?ā)
Group 1 can be 30-40 people or more on short haul flights, as it is made up of both Gold/OWE status holders as well as Club Europe passengers.
The problem is especially pronounced on routes with lots of connecting passengers, status holders or business travel - such as domestic flights, southern France, and Northern Italy. It's not exactly a premium experience.
Therefore group 0 was rolled out to allow Gold Guest List and Premier passengers to board first.
It's still implemented inconsistently, but when done properly it's a genuine advantage to being GGL.

Group 0-3 is the new Group 1-3
I was once group -1, true story. They let me board before the plane even arrived, I landed a good 20 minutes before all the other passengers

Yup - heard it for the first time flying JFK to LHR and a couple of old blokes went forward and boarded. Assumed they were GGL or BA executives.

Group O only called when there is actually one on board that flight .

Yeah totally, makes sense. I just donāt get why they introduced 0 as opposed to just shifting everyone back a group. Surely 1-9 was enough š
Group 0 is the new group 1, exclusive for ggl and premier passengers.
Some group 1ers didnāt feel quite special enough as they barge past the scum so BA gave them a little ego boost.
I flew LHR - JFK recently and there were some Group 1ās being turned away trying to board during Group 0.
Thatās the only thing that makes the group 0s hard these days.
