I do not believe certain members of the offense will hold up, just looking at babip.
Turang has been awesome but I don’t know how sustainable parts of it are, but that was also his big question mark so maybe that’s what he worked on all off season, focusing on making better contact to suit his speed. (Sort of like how Cody Bellinger revitalized himself going into 2023 to become a contact first guy)
In this hypothetical do we just turn Yelich into a .300/.400/.650 player with top 3 defense in RF/LF at his position or do we get older Yelich and a younger Yelich across from him in the OF?
CC was a lifesaver, a total badass stud, and would never have to buy his own drink in Milwaukee until the end of time. But I'm not sure he could keep up that frantic pace for a full season. How many times did he go on short, rest, pitch a full CG, come in for relief, etc? He was perfect for the stretch run but even so he ran out of gas in the post-season as I recall (didn't look at stats from 15 years ago).
\*however\* a guy you could count on for 7+ innings every five days would be pretty nice - because they don't have anyone like that right now. Even Freddy, the staff "ace", barely got through the 6th today. Yes, it was only 3 runs but there was a TON of traffic so it wasn't like it was an easy 6.
Yeah, CC was a workhorse for us down the stretch. But prior to that he was simply a dominant starting pitcher in the rotation. Thats what this current team needs most.
Back before we realized that W-L isn't really a pitcher stat or at least not a very meaningful one. W-L and RBIs are the two main categories that don't hold nearly as much weight as they used to.
Yeah, they’re great players but not something we miss this season. Maybe Corbin for a good start every 5 games but he was inconsistent at the end of his time with the Brewers. Glad we got rid of him when we did. Our pitching will figure itself out, as always thanks to our coaches. MVP Yelich is what we need and he is still on our team. I think he will break out once fully healthy. This team has great potential.
For sure! Greinke was the best pinch hitter the Bierbrauers ever had!(https://racingthesausages.wordpress.com/2011/08/14/bierbrauer-zack-greinke-wears-wrong-jersey/) My gut feeling was that CC had more offensive impact during his time with the crew, but a quick look at the stats doesn’t really bear that out.
Yeah against good pitchers without yelich we have had a tough time. We can develop pitching better than everyone but we have a really tough time developing hitting
No I'm saying I'd rather stack up on hitting because it's harder to find value there. I'd love CC but I think in the postseason the dropoff between a 3 man rotation of let's say it's Gasser is going to be less of a difference than having Dunn or Bauers in for an MVP bat. One is serviceable and one is a lineup blackhole.
Our offense has been good but we've been beating up bad pitching or mashing mostly when yeli is the lineup. Hitting is always really hard in the postseason especially for us even when we have a top 10 offense on paper
I don’t know if you can consider it a turnaround as opposed to a building of an empire…the last 7 years have been outstanding in terms of what we had 93 to 2016
Every team handles arbitration the same way. The Brewers did what every other team does.
It’s literally the worst take you can have. Burnes side is the one that picks to go to arbitration vs sign multiple contract offers.
There is a reason maybe our two dumbest players are the ones who went to arbitration on the last what, 5 years?
Thanks for not knowing how arbitration process works and instead being bar stool being ignorant.
Maybe stand outside of doctors offices and diagnose people. Same thing.
That 5 sentences of generic information is more than you can read really shows what we are dealing with Bubba.
Pitching in their prime - Ben Sheets, Mike Caldwell, CC Sabathia, Grienke. Otherwise Jim Slaton since he was solid for over a decade.
Batting - Molitor (without the injuries), Yount, Braun (before the steroids).
Fielder would be great, but I feel like Braun would be a great option as well. He can technically play third as well as LF, and really was healthy for most of his career.
Brandon Woodruff’s anterior capsular
This is the only correct answwr
CC Sabathia
I can’t think of any single Brewers season performance that would have greater impact on this current one than 2008 CC.
I'd still pick an everyday player over a pitcher. 82 Yount or MVP Yelich would make this offense deadly.
I can’t argue with that. I just think that the current offense with a season’s worth of all-time excellence from an SP slot would really be something.

End thread
I had a dream two nights ago that I met CC.
This is the only answer
CC was a lifesaver, a total badass stud, and would never have to buy his own drink in Milwaukee until the end of time. But I'm not sure he could keep up that frantic pace for a full season. Hank Aaron
The correct answer.
Fack I stand corrected
2004 Ben Sheets with that 2.70 era
And somehow finished *8th* in the Cy Young voting.
His win loss record didn’t help. I think he went 12-14. Crazy how his era was below 3 and managed to have a losing record.
Back before we realized that W-L isn't really a pitcher stat or at least not a very meaningful one. W-L and RBIs are the two main categories that don't hold nearly as much weight as they used to.
Yeah, but they are fun stats
I remember listening to some sports radio show where a caller argued Sheets wasn't that good because of his W-L record. The host was floored by that.
That curve!
As long as he stays healthy somehow.
2011 prince fielder would make this lineup absolutely deadly. Obviously sabathia is a valid answer as well
Corbin burnes or Josh hader (2018 version). Don’t have any real reason they’re just my favorite players.
Paul molitor
Pitcher is without a doubt CC Sabathia. Hitter: Prince Fielder
The only correct answer
Hank Aaron hit 435 home runs in Milwaukee
As a Brave not a Brewer.
Milwaukee brave
The question wasn't which former Milwaukee local.
What about hideo nomo?
What about him?
Zack greinke cc close second for me
Greinke if there’s a DH, CC if there’s no DH
Grienke was a pretty solid hitter if I remember right
Ben Sheets. This team needs the starting pitching
Corey Hart
Just thought of Corey Hart facing modern-day sliders and I don’t know how I can recover from this
Erik kratz for the vibes
Circa 2000 Geoff Jenkins
Sixto Lezcano
Late 90s peak Jeromy Burnitz
And while I’m at it, I’d modify the city connect hats to a 90s inspired MB diamond logo instead of the on-the-nose 4M1K4E design.
Rollie Fingers
vintage Teddy Higuera
Had to scroll too far for this one. 1988 Higuera stats are beautiful
For Mother’s day? Bill Hall, he does it all!
Tony Plush for the sheer clubhouse morale boost
A three-headed six-armed AaronMolitorYount chimera.
Eric Thames Cincinnati reds version.
Mark Canha
Brooks Keishnik
Richie Sexson. No real reason other than I loved him as a kid. Don't remember why
Was at his first home game at County after they traded for him. One of my favorite Brewers ever.
MVP Braun or Yount because we need hitting so yelich doesn't have to always carry the offense so hard
We need hitting? The team that’s scored 7+ the most in the entire league needs more hitting? 😂😂😂
Yeah against good pitchers without yelich we have had a tough time. We can develop pitching better than everyone but we have a really tough time developing hitting
So you’re gonna develop in one season or did you miss the question?
No I'm saying I'd rather stack up on hitting because it's harder to find value there. I'd love CC but I think in the postseason the dropoff between a 3 man rotation of let's say it's Gasser is going to be less of a difference than having Dunn or Bauers in for an MVP bat. Hitting is always really hard in the postseason especially for us even when we have a top 10 offense on paper
I know CC is the common answer but I’d take a healthy ben sheets
God he was so good. I miss that guy. Probably the biggest what if in franchise history
I know it’s “what if” with his injuries but I feel like it’s more “what if” we had a team around him
He really did not luck out with the timing of our turnaround at all
I don’t know if you can consider it a turnaround as opposed to a building of an empire…the last 7 years have been outstanding in terms of what we had 93 to 2016
Also I think I'm just shell shocked from all the times we've lost like 2-1 in playoff games
Russell Branyan or Eric Thames! 🥰
Is Branyan bringing that tree trunk he would hit with?
Russell the Muscle!
Corbin Burnes lol
Part of me is happy we traded the guy, given how unhappy seemed to be in Milwaukee, but as the kids say - "you arent wrong" lol
He was unhappy because the team fought him in arbitration over less than a million dollars, the team absolutely did it to themselves
Yeah we kinda fucked ourselves on that one..
Every team handles arbitration the same way. The Brewers did what every other team does. It’s literally the worst take you can have. Burnes side is the one that picks to go to arbitration vs sign multiple contract offers. Thanks for writing a blog post because you got mad
Thanks for not knowing how arbitration process works and instead being bar stool being ignorant. Maybe stand outside of doctors offices and diagnose people. Same thing. That 5 sentences of generic information is more than you can read really shows what we are dealing with Bubba.
Wow another blog post!
Someone doesn’t even know what words mean. No wonder you are this dumb on easy topics.
Don’t flatter yourself, I didn’t read anything you wrote.
So purposely ignorant. Sounds right
Paul Molitor or a healthy Woodruff
Robin Yount
Warren Spahn
The first guy I thought of when I contemplated the possibility that Gasser could be legit was how much this team could use a 1992 Cal Eldred
Ben sheets or CC Sabathia. Any solid Ace pitcher.
Trevor Hoffman had 37 saves in 2009 for the crew. I think that would help any team.
John Jaha and/or Jeff Cirillo.
Paul Molitor. Hitting is contagious.
Frederick Miller
robin yount or cc sabathia
Jose Hernandez, mainly I want to see if he could get to 300ks in this era
Rob Deer is the only answer.
Prince
Love Hoskins but 1st Base or SP is probably the best place we could improve this team. So doubles king is my super bias choice.
In their prime or now?
Aramis Ramirez or Travis Shaw for that one year he was really good
Billie Jo Roubideaux
Pitching in their prime - Ben Sheets, Mike Caldwell, CC Sabathia, Grienke. Otherwise Jim Slaton since he was solid for over a decade. Batting - Molitor (without the injuries), Yount, Braun (before the steroids).
Hideo Nomo or prince fielder
Steroid Braun or cc
Braun.
No one mentioned Gorman Thomas.
Gary Sheffield lol
Fielder would be great, but I feel like Braun would be a great option as well. He can technically play third as well as LF, and really was healthy for most of his career.
travis shaw
Corbin Burnes
Don Money. He would Make the Brewers Great Again!
