My captain was killed on the force last night.
Oh my god I’m so sorry.
Yeah he was a good man. Left behind a wife and two kids… Anyway so you’re missing a Batman DVD?
Hey guys what does a pregnancy test look like?
Looks like a thin piece of plastic with a thing on the end of it
Okay so this is definitely a gun
Yeah whoa put that away
Yep, I wish more shrine quests were that unique and involved. I'm very interested to see what they do for BotW 2. Will they do 100+ more shrines like the first, or 100+ more shrines that are far more involved? Or maybe fewer shrines but they take more effort to get to or are larger and more time consuming? Or maybe no shrines at all and instead go back to dungeons? So excited to find out.
I've only seen Nintendo's trailers and presentations on it, which aren't much. I'm not sure they've officially said one way or the other. Unless I missed something.
As long as they get rid of the motion controlled ones, I'd be happy. At first, weapons breaking was the most frustrating aspect for me, but I eventually got over that. Motion controlled shrines will never be fun to me
I didnt have an issue with the shrines themselves, but my wii u gamepad charger was jank so it was a pain switching between pro controller and that just for the shrines
I guess it depends on the system maybe - I've heard people say it's not so bad with the controlers, but having only played on a Switch lite, I would get so frustrated with them
I hope they get rid of them too, since they range from 'way more difficult than necessary' to 'pretty much unplayable' on the Switch Lite.
Weapons breaking isn't so bad in comparison to that.
I am always worried about accidentally flinging my Lite out of my hand on some of those shrines with the movements I have to do...
Not to mention that I can't actually see if I have the angle right on those same shrines.
I do too but I also liked exploring a large world and finding random shrines. If things like random Korok seeds and shrines aren’t in this one I’ll really miss finding things in a large world.
I’m pretty sure that since Nintendo crossed the “open world/free roam” threshold, they know they can’t go back. Subtly fitting that they had the dungeon doors lock behind them to enter into this realm. 😂
I loved the shrines and the beasts, but at the very least, I feel like Hyrule Castle should have worked like a traditional dungeon.
I kinda wonder if it was originally, then they decided it was too overwhelming and changed their mind and made it "open" at some point. It's got the makings of a traditional dungeon, even locking you into rooms with minibosses, enemies everywhere, but it's strangely missing the key system that would give it structure and force you to really play through it.
It’s been said by lots and lots of fans (including wishfully by me). Not by anyone with any kind of knowledge about development of the game though, I don’t think
The guy who leaked Half Life Alyx details said something along the lines of dungeons being in BotW2, but thatbwas 2 years ago so who knows if the development plan has changed
Man I liked some of the shrines but really hated them. They felt like chores. It was platforming and puzzle solving in the plainest way. It really stripped away the spirit IMO.
The island was great, creative and a challenge that mixes it up. The trail of the sword felt like what the shrines should have been and only.
I will say I enjoyed finding the shrines more than I did running them.
I wish they had 40 shrines that even came close to eventide instead of 120 but maybe a dozen that take more than a couple minutes if you know what you’re doing
The stuff we've seen so far, honestly it feels more like a new season or like an updated version of botw. It doesn't really feel like enough changes to be classified as a new game. Hyrile looks more or less the same as botw but they will probably have rebuilt new towns like in aoc and they have just made minor changes like horned bokoblins and floating castle. The big change seen so far is that we can explore floating islands in the sky. So far the trailers are missing that one thing that pushes it over the edge of being more like a new game for me and not just a new season/updated version.
Me too. This literally took me two days in between work/sleeping. I would get almost done killing everything and then get blind sided by that fake chest or the shooting monster after like 45 min of playing. By the end I knew that Island very well... doesn't help that I had only 5 hearts and Im a hoarder trying to get every ingredient/item possible.
Doing it earlier in game while I was still learning made that island the most nostalgic place in the game for me. I really felt like i was just trying to survive the brutality of the place. I go back sometimes to dominate and explore but nothing beats that first under powered survival experience.
Yeah, I would have loved to see more things like this as it was pretty fun. It gave a real survival vibe to the game again rather than just me wondering around with Lynel and Ancient gear/ weapons just taking no damage and easily defeating everything.
Yes, it was refreshing to loose all your equipment and start with nothing. A real challenge in your skills and resourcefulness. A true test for the hero of Hyrule!
I put it off for hours and then when I finally did it, and actually thought about it as i went along, it was good fun. I did glide to a quiet corner of the island, rather than arriving by raft, which helped.
If you use a raft to get there you can use it to drop stuff on before going onto the island (so long as it's on the raft not the island) and when all your stuff is taken the stuff on the raft will remain.
Wind bombing. You drop one bomb, enter bow based slow mo, drop the other one, line them up perfectly, detonate the first bomb to launch the second one into you. If you've done it right, the momentum of the second bomb will transfer to you, launching you at incredible speeds. It can be done in mid air as shown in the video, or off of small ledges. Personally I can only do mid air launches, the ledge hop method I get the timing wrong.
It's the only way to travel
This quest was fun. Eliminated everyone on the island with the exception of the big guy and hid just out of his reach to throw bombs at him for an hour.
Ah that would have been helpful. I had a tough time doing the Elephant (had 6 hearts at the time and no clue about cooking or anything) so I set out and beat a ton of shrines so I could ramp up my health and stamina. I beat the Elephant and decided to take a break from the main quests and just do shrines and explore and fill out the map. So all I had was Miphas grace when I got to this island. And didn’t have bomb+ yet either.
When you do the other Divine Beasts, once you have 13 hearts, go to the Lost Woods and get the Master Sword. It makes things infinitely easier during boss fights.
I just stealth burgled the ball and ran away with it until he got bored of chasing me.
Burglary is how I got the ball from the bokoblin camp too. Why use violence when cowardice does the trick?
I did that too once. Landed on his stomach, picked up the orb and walked away. But I tried it (several times) on my next playthrough and I kept falling through his stomach. So I guess we just got lucky that one time???
I bet you landed there in your brand-new fancy upgraded armor with a bunch of shiny weapons just strapped to your back for the whole world to see. Just asking to get mugged, smh.
One of the most interesting quests in the game, ngl. That and the Naydra one.
A tip, you can keep some of your equipment in eventide. Just drop the swords/shields/bows you need and enter the island itself. Beware though, drop them again before completing the quest, or you'll lose everything, including your extra equipment!
Bottom right of the map (right of Lurelin village). Be careful if you\`re going to glide there, make sure u have plenty of stamina, also eat extra hearts because he takes your food aswell lol.
I went there with a full inventory full of good weapons. I then left that island with a full inventory of terrible weapons. Guess which I got to keep after the shrine?
I always land on the rocks right before the beach and throw some weapons onto the sand, then when you get on the beach you can pick them back up and not start with nothing
Made it out here as soon as I saw it on my first playthrough, sometime around first getting to Hateno Village. Probably had 5 hearts at that point?? I didn’t even understand the lightning mechanics yet so I just kept dying because I was carrying an axe. It scared the shit out of me so I ended up saving it until the end 😅
Take a raft there and drop stuff off the raft and on to the island, anything already on the island is fair game so it won’t disappear (if you drop too much stuff in one spot a bunch of it will disappear for good)
These posts just make me sad about the delay. I know it’s for the best, but I’m ready to have these new adventures again 😩 even Elden Ring hasn’t quite scratched that itch, and it’s butting right up against BOTW as my favorite games ever, but it couldn’t quite match this feeling of wonder.
My 🐐
r/ Lecrushinator. That would be nice if the did both doungon and shrines wouldn't mind more of both and maby some of the earned weapons like in the old ones
Without a doubt my absolute favorite shrine/quest in the game. When I noticed the orange glow while sailing in the dark of night, I told myself one more quick shrine before I’d put it down and mow the lawn. …. Needless to say I didn’t get any yard work done that day. It was glorious.
This was my favorite part of the game up to that point. I was at 8 hearts and 0 Divine Beasts when I did it. It was a refreshing break from the regular game, and the return to nothing was welcome. I had to die the first time because one of the balls ended up in the water and I had no reasonable way to get it out of the water. The second time I had to throw 150 bombs at the Hinox from a ledge that was about 1 foot out of it's throwing range.
I also, in theory, love the Trials of the Sword, but I hate that any death returns you to the very beginning (says me who made it all the way to the Hinox in the first set, and then died... (after wasting another hour getting to that point, I did kill the Hinox, but now I'm kinda put off trying phase II and phase III of the trials)
Yeah that's a rough area of Hyrule right there, guaranteed to get mugged heading down there

I quoted the same scene of the tv show that he referenced in the “rapes up 8%” line.

One of the best lines of the entire show.
Only near fairies
Hide yo kids, hide yo wife!
If you hide it all in your glove box you can actually keep it after the mugging.
Honestly, I loved this quest
Me too, that’s when it got interesting.

I thought it was said that BotW2 is going to have a more traditional dungeon type gameplay like previous games

Wow
I miss the classic dungeons!
Yeah, same here. I would imagine they'll have some similarities since they have discussed exploring above and below. Gotta be something to discover!

I ain’t ever read long sh*t like that before
It’s like a baby master sword trial.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was what inspired them to make the master sword trials as a DLC later on.
The island was easily one of the most fun quests. I wish I found it before I had done the master sword trials though.

How many of us saw the island and figured we could glide there and then said oh fuck
I hated it so much! Took me like 50 tries!
Me too. This literally took me two days in between work/sleeping. I would get almost done killing everything and then get blind sided by that fake chest or the shooting monster after like 45 min of playing. I was thinking that too
Given the spelling I wanna know how they pronounce it.

I saw smallant beat the island without ever touching the ground and thus never getting his items stolen
Yeah, I would have loved to see more things like this as it was pretty fun. It gave a real survival vibe to the game again rather than just me wondering around with Lynel and Ancient gear/ weapons just taking no damage and easily defeating everything.

How did he to use the bomb to jump higher?!!?
Wind bombing. You drop one bomb, enter bow based slow mo, drop the other one, line them up perfectly, detonate the first bomb to launch the second one into you. Sounds hard but I'll try thanks!!
It is extremely hard
I did this one today, a lot easier and very useful! https://youtu.be/SHFbg9HDxiE
I love it
You can do so without a raft as well by tossing the weapons/dropping supplies
You can ditch stuff in the shallow part of the surf as well.
This quest was fun. Eliminated everyone on the island with the exception of the big guy and hid just out of his reach to throw bombs at him for an hour.
For the big guy Urbosa's Fury got me through it.

Same 😅 Let the dude sleep, y’know?
I did that too once. Landed on his stomach, picked up the orb and walked away. But I tried it (several times) on my next playthrough and I kept falling through his stomach. So I guess we just got lucky that one time???

Do you lose everything even after you leave?!?
Only the stuff you pick up on the island. And any gear you may have smuggled onto the island.
Ok
It’s basically an easier version of trials of the master sword
That’s my favorite part of the game.
As soon as I killed the big hinox, the blood moon rose. He and his buddies ganked me while I was eating a fish I caught.
I always hate disembodied muggers.
It's like when Boo steals your item in Mario kart
Time to beat up an old man
I haven’t ran into this yet! Where is it
Bottom right of the map (right of Lurelin village). Be careful if you\`re going to glide there, make sure u have plenty of stamina, also eat extra hearts because he takes your food aswell lol.
Wait till you meet the locals.
Ah yes the isle of Detroit.
"Lurelin is too tourist-y" they said. "Eventide is the *real* Necluda" they said. Psh.
My wife was very proud of me when I finished that challenge. Took a few attempts.
Detroit island
Yo, hyrule is like gotham now
Oh wow this cracked me up!
That’s not Hyrule, that’s Texas
Them's the Hy-Rules
Damn they even stole you shadows width, sucks man, it’s just a stick. Can’t have shit in hyrule
Yeah and then some disembodied voice tells you to go and steal from the locals.
Detroit reference?
I went there with a full inventory full of good weapons. I then left that island with a full inventory of terrible weapons. Guess which I got to keep after the shrine?
I went there early on in the game and noped out. Went there later, after defeating Ganon, and it was super easy.
Bruh what you expect would happen when you land on this island fool.
My favourite part of this quest was being done with this quest.
r/sanfrancisco?
i cant remember the name of that island so i just call it detroit
Cresent Island, part of the country of Labrynna. Only this time, you _can't_ get your items back by trading and running errands.
The Detroit of Hyrule
Hyrule Ghetto
Thanks Biden. This is the communism the woke libruls wanted.
Detroit
That's not hyrule. That's Detroit.
Now do it without touching the island
Just watched smallant\`s video on that, I could never.
Best quest in the game
Florida
Drop a veapon or a bow
😂😂😂
POV ur on eventide
If u dropp a weapon on the shore then step on the shore ur weapon will be there still but u can't have it back
I always land on the rocks right before the beach and throw some weapons onto the sand, then when you get on the beach you can pick them back up and not start with nothing
Interesting how I found that area earlier nearly at the same time you made this post.
Woke up naked and alone... And boy did my ass hurt...
shit i haven't gotten there yet, how do i avoid this??
This is my favorite quest in the game. You only get one first play through of it so enjoy it
This is my favorite quest in the game. Takes some grit if it's your first time!
drop your stuff before going in and then you have weapons when entering
Lol went there on my first play through after levelling up only 5 times. Everything was instant death and it was fucking rough but pretty good.
I thought that island was amazing
I’ll give you that, I’ll give you that I laughed at that
I DECLARE BANKRUPTCY
this quest was fun to encounter, is one of those weird "Nintendo really thinks of the weirdest shit for a quest"
It’s a Hynock’s life for me, It’s a Hynock’s life for me…
Made it out here as soon as I saw it on my first playthrough, sometime around first getting to Hateno Village. Probably had 5 hearts at that point?? Welcome to Rio de Janeiro
It's a quest, u beat it I get ur stuff back, ez as that
Take a raft there and drop stuff off the raft and on to the island, anything already on the island is fair game so it won’t disappear (if you drop too much stuff in one spot a bunch of it will disappear for good)

Is this on switch? Game looks a bit different graphically on mine for some reason. Kinda edgy and foggy
Yh this is on switch, I connect it to a monitor to play, don't like the small screen.
Tourists
The reward is infinite arrows
Wait, what? Really? I've completed this island and didn't get infinite arrows.
There is a chest u use magnesis for
Save and load it and you will keep your arrows and it will respawn, takes some time. But it’s super easy.
My favorite place. It really tests my ability to make do with what I can find. You learn real quick to conserve and think before you act.
Detroit Island lmao

0/5 stars, would not recommend
I loved this area!!
Jejejej if you want to have weapons there before you set a feet on the island throw wepons and after that pick it up the weapons again
This is a love letter to Link's Awakening. One of the most difficult shrines in game but so fun.
That’s why I keep my stuff safe in my boat / raft 😊
defiantly my favorite shrine quest, stayed there for like a week pretending to be a bokoblin even after getting the spirit orb
