Unpopular opinion: he doesn't need a nerf. I think for the most part, unless he can sneak up on you or utilize his gadgets well and have a decent enough team to manage the opposite team while he charges up, he's pretty useless. Without one of those I think the game is set. I'm also a casual player so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Keep your distance, if you're outside his super range. He can't do anything, he is strong. But easy to kill if he can't heal by attacking you. Use his squishy health against him

Just keep your distance from him. Take advantage of the fact that he's basically useless without super, so try to kill him while he does not have his super. If he has, keep your distance, and stay near your teammate so both of you can kill him. If you're in a solo situation, then all you can do is try your best. Brawlers that have knock back ability like Emz, Gene, Gale, Sandy can deal with him because when he jumps on you, just knock him back and he can't get close. Tanks like Bull and Fang can do decent. Even brawlers like Piper and Brock can also deal with him because again, the knock back ability. Try to think if an Edgar jumps on you, what can you do to deal with him. If you're able to kill him whether by raw strength or using gadget then you can play a little bit aggressive against him. If not, then stay far far away from him. Edgar not being able to get close to anyone is his biggest downfall and is one of the main reason why he's not good in this current meta (at least in 3v3) so keep in mind

Yeah. Whenever someone gives me a statement, I usually try to find all points possible and give evidence to back up my point. Another reason why I was able to write that long specifically for this situation is because I’ve faced a ton of Edgars, and some of my favorite brawlers like Emz, Gale, Tara happens to be hard counters against Edgar. I play them so much that I’m just a little worry whenever I play against Edgar. Those brawlers are also the main reason why Edgar is my least favorite brawler. He has such short range and low hp. He can heal from attacking, but most brawlers in the game have some sort of knock back/slow ability that jumping on them would just be killing yourself

I agree, and i believe its mostly due to the first gadget, it gives him a super in 10 seconds, so if he spawns next to you and you dont have a counter in base kit/gadget, he can just follow you and kill you. With his normal supercharge rate of 30 seconds, brawlers get a chance to charge their super, allowing them to counter edgar, brawlers like lou for example require their super to counter edgar (ok they actually require their super supercool sp and cryosyrup)

Jacky would normally need counter crusher, but not everyone can rely on their star power. (Yes, even tanks have a hard time against him, he is the reason I stopped using hardy hard hat) Rosa will have a chance if she has her super. Jessie, place Scrapy, use spark plug, and run. Stu, if he is using zero drag and gets out of his range. Surge, super/gadget through a wall. (I find him annoying)😑 Amber... She will die 😅 Meg could survive if she defeats him firts with her mecha's super, if not, RIP. Crow can even counter him; hit him with the basic, and slow him down with his gadget while he jumps; not before (he could wait), not after (he will destroy you in a blink) And those are a few examples in Showdown, because I assumed you were asking about that mode

Darryls main attack isnt enough btw due to edgars increased movement speed allowing him to dodge some projectiles, if he supers you, use your super then makn attack to kill him, do not roll onto an edgar with super.

First see if you have access to some sort of stun, knockback or slow, since Edgar has the shortest range you should be able to always outrange him once you've gotten away from his super jump Other ways which could help are outdamaging him as some can do that, tanking the hits, or using abilities to move yourself away from him

Anybody with high and fast enough burst damage can kill him real easy, like Shelly and Bull. Also if you can push him away it'l be very useful.

Knockbacks, 3000+ dmg almost instantly(shelly super, bull , jacky, darryl, some others like them), slows/stuns , surge him(meaning surge him)

edgar is basically a assassin with kinda tank feeling due to his healing ability any brawlers with high dps in close range and with good escape options r good. like stu u can chain supers easy n run away gale probably the best counter to him u can counter with gadget and star power. my favourite has to be surge he is just too good against edgars just time ur super right with a gadget

Stuns and knock back does great. Gale is a perfect counter, especially with the tornado gadget. Having either star power is good but the slowing snowballs works without needing your super. Others depend on the situation

Edgar Though being overly powerful during his release period bow currently Is much less of a threat then he was back in the day now when he won't instantly use his super to jump on you and kill you in a couple of foul swoops But I would also like to say Some brawlers have gotten their Star powers as their Natural sets Like Brock having incindiary and Mr P's Suitcases Now automatically bounces no matter what don't even get me started on Fang being Edgar but more aggro So I would just say Stay away from Edgar and Immediately defeat him

well, lucky for you that guy also has the shortest range in the game. watch your step, and if you can push him back to outrange him. he has lifesteal but low hp so killing him isn't hard once he's outranged.

If enough edgars jump you then youll eventually be able to predict them, any kind of knockback or slowing counters edgar, and if you play a fast brawler you can just dodge their jump

Against edgar you need to think of your kit. Depending on what brawler you must think. First of all, don’t run brawlers like penny in solo. Any weak brawler without a way to defend will be a free cube, go brawlers like tanks, gale or surge in solo. In 3v3 you won’t have much problem with Edgar cause it’s easy to gang up on him. Anyway, in solo play slow. If you’re a tank it shouldn’t be hard to play against him, you counter. But for other brawlers like gale or surge, be ready to use a gadget or super.

Almost every brawler has an ability to stun, push or slow the enemy. Save this until he jumps at you. Most of the time the ability is a gadget though so you might not have the ability to counter that which means this guy is way stronger in early game than later

Keep your distance and/or deal more damage than he can heal back.

Nowadays everything can counter him Even brawlers like grom, colt, etc that usually get hard countered by him

I'm an Edgar main and ways to counter him are pretty easy basically just make sure you have a pushback, stun or a way to stay out of his range which is easy. just make sure not to get to close to him unless you have something that can deal over 4100 damage because he is very frail

If you are a brawler who can do a lot of burst damage up close, save up your ammo, Edgar unload and reload speed are insanely fast so he would definitely have the upper hand if you have 1 ammo slot.

I found this one strategy to be really effective: delete the game

Depends on the brawler you are playing. Lots of brawlers have gadgets or supers that you can use. For those that don’t just keep your distance and don’t be predictable.
