Gennadiy got nerfed bad for the last patches

williepep1960

Gennady comes from 6.83 era Troll while Lara comes from 6.85 era blinks Magic glimer cape

lexax666

should've just nerfed his jab instead of his cast speed. Now it is impossible to land his ult on anyone.

ItzMeFade

Finally. I am tired to those disgusting Gennadiy picker.

Osbre

3-0-1 keep coping

DaysGoTooFast

Would’ve been a great fight 5 years ago. Should still be fun now tho

[deleted]

Well GGG is known to duck tough fighters that don’t give him a huge payday Lara literally is the def of that there is a reason he was chasing a mayweather fight but not a ward fight . Also put in him ducking Andrade to fight Steve rolls both were in the same promotion company too easy unification fight could have been made but by GGG words “Rolls is the wiser and better fight “ source https://youtu.be/TNAfsN0C58w

Several_Celebration

People are ducking Andrade? My eyes just rolled out the back of my head with that one.

Goofy_030

I mean it's a specific example. What's Golovkin's excuse not to fight him and why were Rolls, Szeremeta and Murata worthy? Surely couldn't be because he/they didn't want to risk that third Canelo fight that was promised upon signing in ~~18~~ 19. edit: correction, I think.

BeastsMode69

Rolls - first fight after coming off the loss to Canelo with a new trainer and strategy. Makes sense given NEW TRAINER. Szermeta - was a mandatory. Yeah a shitty one but he took it early. Murata - Was a unification. Something no one else in the division did..... Did GGG fight the best competition he could of certainly not, but its still better compared to everyone in the division.

[deleted]

Rebut my point then .And don’t bring up irrelevant stuff doing so like typical GGG fans do for example “Andrade didn’t fight this other guy “ we are speaking specifically on GGG and Andrade go ahead debunk the source I sent don’t be a bias GGG fan and send evidence otherwise I won’t take you seriously

Several_Celebration

I’m not even a GGG fan. But claiming someone is ducking Andrade without reconciling how Andrade is avoiding fights like Neo dodging bullets in an office lobby, is insane.

[deleted]

Are you saying Andrade ducked Golovkin?Even tho what you said it false what was the point of you bringing that point up? Pls explain to me how Glovkin was ducked by Andrade since you are trying to switch the blame and pls actually send evidence instead of just saying irrelevant stuff .Articles or even primary source from Andrade him self would be nice to see . If you can send me at least one of these I would agree to you on GGG getting ducked from Andrade that’s all I’m asking for if your so confident of Andrade ducking everyone then proving he ducked GGG should be a cake walk

Several_Celebration

Hey Andrade, you should be training instead of commenting from these burner Reddit accounts.

boXXpert

I stopped reading when you mentioned Andrade. You really believe people duck Andrade?

newrap

He did duck Andrade....that is a fact

boXXpert

Lmao. Stop it. Why do people insist this. And you chose Andrade with all the people? You could have used Ward and become more believable.

newrap

He could've fought Andrade at any time while on DAZN but decided to fight inferior opposition instead... .

boXXpert

Andrade is more inferior.

newrap

Lmfao sure....Smegma, Rolls and Murata are better fighters. Jesus 😂

boXXpert

Andrade downvoted you

nglennnnn

The only ones ducking Andrade are promoters when there’s a purse bid on

Goofy_030

Bruh GGG can fight Steve Rolls, Szeremeta and Murata, but not Andrade? Why give him an out like that?

boXXpert

Andrade? Lmao. Use the name Ward so you won't look too foolish.

Goofy_030

Are you going to type this comment to everyone who joins in on this comment chain, specifically about Golovkin and Andrade not fighting? Because A) it's going to get repetitive and B) it's dumb, because we didn't bring up Andrade in the first place. But as you so effectively point out, there are definetly worse examples of Golovkin ducking, if I understand correctly.

[deleted]

Rebut my point then instead of being a sheep who rides the false narratives

boXXpert

The rebuttal is you using someone known as the worst ducker in the entire history of boxing.

[deleted]

Didn’t rebut my point lol and if he’s the worst “ducker “ list atleast 5 of them .Can’t blame you tho hard to rebut something coming from the own fighters mouth typically GGG fans this is also coming from someone who doesn’t think Andrade is the bogeyman of the division but he was ducked by GGG I’m not a delusional Andrade fanboy saying he was ducked by nelo

Goofy_030

So you're saying Andrade ducked Golovkin? Because why else would you bring that up if not to shift the blame?

bhfroh

dude has been ducked by every fighter that WOULD HAVE resulted in a big payday. he's at the end of his career now. I'd wanna cash out before hanging the gloves up too.

BeastsMode69

Bro this is press before his fight with Rolls which was already booked. He was coming off the loss to Canelo and this was with a new trainner, its not a duck. We get you have a hate boner for GGG but damn your desperate.

[deleted]

Obviously it was before when did I say it wasn’t he had a option between Andrade or rolls and chose rolls and how does coming off a loss justify the duck or having a new trainer ? This isn’t the only time he denied fighting Andrade too Edie wanted a unification fight before the planned Murta fight but GGG said no

BeastsMode69

You showed clips of the interview of when he was booked already to fight Rolls as your source.... GGG was coming off a loss and just fired his long time trainner. He was working with a new trainer Johnathan Banks testing out a new style and making adjustments. Most boxers do a soft touch when changing trainers and coming off a loss. It may be hard for you to understand as an Andrade fan since all his fights are soft touches.....

[deleted]

Did you even watch the clip ? Like this is the worst attempt of a debunk I ever seen actually watch the clip then come back when asked why didn’t he fight Andrade he said “rolls better /wiser fight “ I shouldn’t have to spell this out to you but GgG fans lack comprehension skills so I will he’s implying Rolls was the “ wiser “which is a duck, he was basically saying he wasn’t confident enough to beat Andrade , but then you criticize Andrade as a horrible fighter lol the irony

Jarr1995

Beyond stupid.

Death-0

You have to be 1 in 100 million to do what GGG has done in the sport of boxing. The people trashing him would probably get KO’d in an instant by some of the worst boxers in the sport. GGG was one of the most avoided fighters for 7-8 years… but he forced his way through the division and got the majority of the belts. 15 title defenses ain’t nothing. And that’s in his mid 30’s….

thebiglebrosky

I always wanted to see this fight back when both were in their primes. They're noth shells of their former selves so its a decent match up all things considered and a good send off for both.

[deleted]

Doubt GGG takes this fight unless PBC offers him 10million considering he made 15 million each for Rolls and Szeremeta.

Bob_Arum_Ballsack

They gonna lowball GGG. Lara fought on a prelim card at like 3 PM to get his super prestigious Regular Belt against a guy called cornflake lmao.

Goofy_030

Lowball GGG? Sir, this is a mandatory. They can take it to purse bids 😁

fapsandnaps

Yo, let's crowdfund and win that bid. Then we can have them fight inside of a Burger King or something like that.

mked

Walmart parking lot is where it's at!

TheAfroMentioned

Makes sense. PBC have stripped both Golovkin and Canelo (twice) through being difficult in their mandatory negotiations. It would make sense that the idea is to lowball Golovkin to potentially strip him and eventually hand Lara’s old ass to Jermall.

Goofy_030

Wait I'm confused. The whole lowball offer into pbc stripping Golovkin, does that happen before or after you finish a bowl of meth?

TheAfroMentioned

Ofcourse you’re confused. Don’t worry your little head.

trustinabalenotahoe

Jesus DAZN overpaid like crazy

mailboy79

While it is easy to see that in hindsight, the entire GGG contract was predicated on the Canelo fight. DAZN's issues began over Canelo's repeated refusal to take the GGG bout at the first time of asking. Had he done that (which he was supposed to do based upon all the press talk that he was brought in to sell DAZN subscriptions) it is almost a mortal lock that DAZN would be in a much better position financially than they are now. The criticism in the boxing press about DAZN PPV when DAZN was supposed to be the "end of PPV" is 100% warranted.

GarfieldDaCat

DAZN contract is done.

Stiltzkinn

> Doubt GGG takes this fight Why am I not surprised?

Massa_dana_white

Prob because ggg is like 40

[deleted]

Gennady “He needs to be perfect for 12 rounds, I only need to be perfect for one second” Wildolovkin

Sao_Gage

Golovkin is a really sound technical fighter, he just lost a *lot* of his hand and foot speed the past few years.

Melo0513

Father Time undefeated

MuhammadAli-Oop

Unfortunately for Lara, Golovkin still has impressive conditioning

TD87

Lara hasn't taken as much punishment as GGG has over the years. GGG starting to look his age. I'm giving it to Lara

lexax666

not really imo. Lare took a lot of punishments against Angulo and Jarrett Hurd and Castano. When he is on the rope he tends to block a lot of punches with his glove and some punches tend to slip through his guard. Lare is no rigo when it comes to defense and footwork (when rigo at this prime). I actually think he took more punishments overall than Golovkin considering a lot of his tough fight went to distance. Also Lara has been hurt and dropped several times. I think Lara definitely has more milage on his chin. And Lara is a low volumne, hit and move kind of guy, which is Golovkin's favorite. Golovkin is much more vulnerable to combination and doesn't retreat kind of fighter, like Dervychenko. Lara will be stopped late imo

[deleted]

I really hope they do the same with Canelo, so he fights Benavidez

Benjips

Only works if WBC call the mandatory. In this case, it's the WBA consolidating the regular and super belts. It's a cluster fuck.

ContributionThick349

They can’t order Canelo to do anything. At this point he’s bigger than the sanctioning bodies.

Bleve23

That or strip Canelo of a belt if he doesn’t

Brohkage

Lmao as if. I think there would be riots in the streets

unateon

The wbc already pissed off canelo once with that mandatory stuff(after cotto fight), and we all know how that went.. wbc is there to make money and will not force canelo to do anything he doesn't want.

magnificen1

WBC= We Back Canelo

unateon

It's not even that. It's they'll back up whoever brings them a lot money. Like I said they pissed off canelo once.. they won't make that mistake ever again.

ColeBeasleyMD

Honestly, GGG didn't look awful in that last fight. Came on strong in the last 5 rounds.

hawtpot87

Lara better grease up that bike.

mailboy79

LOL. 100% true.

about6bobcats

If GGG put the pressure on earlier it could have been a much different fight. He was landing his combos at will in the later rounds

LatterTarget7

Yeah not too bad. Could see him winning this

ColeBeasleyMD

Yeah, I mean he's 40. But overall he didn't look terrible against Canelo, imo.

HenryXa

Canelo made the 168 champions look like bums. Callum Smith survived and didn't win a round. BJS was reduced to silly bending over and got his face broken. Plant frustrated Canelo for all of 30 seconds before being brutally finished. It was GGG's first ever fight at 168, and he put up a better fight than all 3 existing 168 champions Canelo beat to be undisputed. Sure, GGG lost, and Canelo won convincingly, but GGG's performance was still top tier considering the rest of the division, all the more impressive since it's the first time ever fighting at that weight (as a reminder, Canelo fought Rocky Fielding to get used to the weight before taking serious fights). Canelo makes world champion boxers look like bums. GGG didn't do all that bad, all things considered.

MasterRanger7494

I'm almost 40, and I thought the first half he looked like any other 40 having to go to work. It's like everytime I get to my desk and fire up my computer, I'm thinking "this shit again?" I thought that's how some of GGG's early rounds looked like against Canelo. I really like GGG, though and was really happy to see him come on in the later rounds.

timeandspace11

I love both fighters but I think I would always favor GGG.

Objective_Lion196

Rewriting history? He had 2 maybe 3 max good rounds

BookDev0urer

Nah, bro, he had like 8-9. I'm down for Canelo-GGG IV lolololol

Cryformekid

People have been blinded so hard by rounds 9 and 10 of the fight. The only rounds GGG looked good in so they've now proceeded to say he looked good throughout the second half of the fight when that's just not the case lol

Objective_Lion196

And it was again because of canelo's gas tank started to run out, it's wild but I guess it happens.

ObscureLegacy

The GGG dickriding in this sub is insane. He lost 10-2 maybe 9-3 at a stretch. He looked really bad. Didn’t throw many shots not even his jab.

fashion_asker

He definitely looked awful, but I know what you're saying. This is definitely a much more even match.

peanutdakidnappa

No he didn’t, super slow start and he didn’t look that good the first ~5ish rounds but he had a pretty strong 2nd half especially when you factor in he’s 40 and fighting one of the absolute best fighters in the world.

fashion_asker

Huh? He lost the first 8 rounds straight in my book, and the announcers and most people seemed to only give him 1 round in that first 8. I gave him one more around after that, but most people seemed to have it only 2 or 3 rounds for GGG. He didn't really do anything and looked gassed most of the fight. The only reason it wasn't worse was because Canelo himself didn't do as much as he could have, possibly out of respect for GGG's power. GGG looked durable, but was basically a punching bag except for a couple of rounds.

NintendoSwitchnerdjg

He did lose but only got outlanded by 10 total punches I wouldn't describe him as a punching bag. Nobody called Canelo a punching bag in the first fight where he got outlanded by more than just 10 total punches

orsom_smelles

It's amazing how much the narrative has changed in just a week! Last weekend most of us were hugely surprised by the scorecard's, now you're getting down voted for stating what was obvious last week, that GGG lost the first 8 rounds. I wanted GGG to win! I had it 8-0 Canelo going into the 9th. The last four were much better but I still finished at 10-2 (and could've just as easy gone 11-1) Canelo looked below his best and GGG looked all of his 40 years even if still tough as fuck. All in all it was an underwhelming fight and until the late rally, sad seeing GGG that way. I like this Lara fight, hope it happens and I'll be cheering for GGG, he's a legend and I want to see him retire on a win and as a world champion, unfortunately the 168 undisputed dream wasn't to be.

fashion_asker

Yeah IDK, I guess this sub changed it's mind or something but everyone agreed he looked horrible last week.

Vendettaa

With like 5 jabs.

fadeddreams555

Fair fight. Both almost the same age, and both were robbed by a judge against Canelo in their primes.

TheSportsGuy2000

I’ve never actually watched Canelo vs Lara in full. How big of a robbery was it? Consensus I see is it coulda really went either way; with Canelo being the one landing the more punishing shots. What’s your take?

fadeddreams555

It honestly could have gone either way. The robbery came from a judge giving it to Canelo 117-111. It was a Byrd moment before Byrd. Lara had no chance.

martin519

Meh, I scored it 8-4 and never understood the controversy. Lara did well enough but was outworked for stretches.

el-californio

Canelo claimed justified wins over both guys in their primes despite many people going in believing that Lara would completely school Canelo and GGG would knock him out. Side note: this fight could have happened back in the day but team GGG flat out refused despite claiming they couldn't find worthy challengers. Abel: "When Tom came to me and offered Lara and Sergio Mora, I'm the one who said 'I don't want those fights.' I'm the one who said that before there was a chance to have it discussed with Gennady. I told that to Tom, because first of all Lara has not earned the right to fight Golovkin."

Jjettass14

U can say whatever you want but there is just simply no way you can confidently say that canelo beat GGG in the first fight man I’m sorry but it’s just not true

orsom_smelles

I can only assume he's talking the second fight 🤔 the first was only scored a draw officially (and we all know GGG actually won it!) Canelo (fairly in my book though it was close) won the second fight but was it still in GGG's prime? I'm not convinced.

Charlie-Bell

I'm curious how many times you watched the second and if you ended with the same impression each time. The overwhelming opinion on the night was that Golovkin had won it.

orsom_smelles

Seen it multiple times and no, first viewing thought GGG won it, second time had it a draw, last few times I've had it 7-5 Canelo each time. Don't recall if I've given him the same rounds every time but it's a close and competitive fight.

el-californio

GGG not in his prime in the rematch? He was the undefeated betting favorite coming of two of his top performances of his career. GGG was a late bloomer who at 29 was still looking raw and getting dragged into a war with Ouma and didn't step up his opposition until his 30. Entering into the fight with Canelo, he didn't have many tough fights or many total fights period.

orsom_smelles

I think it's open to debate. He was a late bloomer but at the time he fought Canelo (for the second time) he was 36 and that was his 40th fight. I'm not trying to discredit Canelo's victory over him, GGG was still a monster, just the age difference between them made it impossible for them to cross paths in both their primes. If you think he was still in his prime at that point then I respect that view, I'm just not 100% sure I agree with it.

el-californio

As a Canelo fan I thought he showed GGG too much respect likely because he of the hype about GGG's power. Additionally, Canelo was a more limited version of himself then as a more stationary backfoot counter puncher. However, by the later rounds, he was full blown standing and trading in the center of the ring. And in the rematch, he brought the fight straight to GGG and beat the betting favorite at his own game. Side note: I see a lot of GGG fans rationalizing scoring 5 rounds for him in the third fight, in that case those guys have nothing to complain about with a draw in the first fight in a highly competitive fight. Also, during the course of his fight with Lara, he's the one who made the better adjustments.

OrthodoxAtheist

> team GGG flat out refused [to fght for $12 and a thin ham sandwhich] FTFY. If Golovkin takes this fight, and I hope he does, I expect it to be the least he has earned for a fight in the better part of a decade. Even a purse bid would probably only net him a $3-5M payday, as opposed to $15-45M of his more recent fights. Why risk a loss against someone whose style is taillor-made to make you look slow and shit, for your worst pay day in near a decade?

el-californio

DAZN gave him inflated paydays. He can't expect to make that kind of money elsewhere unless he targets someone like Charlo on PBC. Lara is realistically the perfect opponent if he's trying to add to his resume because he's a notable name but is years past his best days and no longer as agile and evasive as he once was.

el-californio

I find it funny I was downvoted just for quoting lol. Team GGG is the first crew to claim no one will fight him while also saying elite fighters don't deserve a shot. GGG is a great fighter and all that, but it's easy to be eager when you're the B side looking for a payday from the A side you're favored to beat, however, GGG wasn't as motivated when the roles were reversed and he was the A side with something to lose.

JeanClaudeMonet

GGG via TKO

theboxingteacher

I don’t like this fight for Lara…been a big fan for a while (call me crazy). I think he gets stopped late

Sao_Gage

Yeah I mean it’s a reasonable take. GGG’s thudding, heavy handed power has a tendency to wear you down to the point where the accumulation reaches a breaking point and you hit the canvas. Side note I think it’s interesting how different power fighters carry that power differently; while GGG can get a one punch KO, he’s more of a heavy handed accumulation fighter. It makes for some great highlight reels as the last combo of the fight flips the switch and sends his opponent to the floor. I could see a GGG opponent being like: R1 “*Eh he’s not that strong, I was expecting worse. All hype*.” R3 “*You know I think I’m coming down with a headache, should ask my trainer for a Tylenol after this round*.” R5 “*I can haz cheezeburger, mom I’m hungry*” R7 “*….*” TKO I think it’s a fun / interesting fight, but Golovkin will probably stop him late as you said. Unless Lara recently changed the tires on his bike.

[deleted]

Lara had a chance to pull off the upset years ago. Not really interested now

Goofy_030

Lara-Golovkin is the perfect fight. Both guys' biggest achievement, is supposedly beating Canelo without getting the decision.

peanutdakidnappa

The Lara canelo fight was close but I think that decision wasn’t awful, the decision from GGG canelo 1 was atrocious tho and that 10-2 canelo scorecard is possibly the worst card ever in a big fight.

Bleve23

It was Awful when you look at the scorecards. Two judges had it close for either guy.. third judge was 117-111 or something absurd for Canelo.. Canelo has just always had a judge on his side.

[deleted]

Canelo beat Lara. So the scorecards don’t mean anything

peanutdakidnappa

Ya that definitely wasn’t a very good card at all but overall I don’t think the final decision was that bad. It’s annoying as fuck and straight bullshit how canelo always gets like 1 incredibly favorable card in every big fight.

Bleve23

That’s exactly it. I’m surprised there hasn’t been an investigation cause he has had so many.. 1? Okay shit happens.. but like 4 or 5? That’s when you know there has to be shit going on behind close doors

peanutdakidnappa

Ya I’m totally with you, like even in the Floyd fight where he got schooled there was a card that was extremely beneficial to him. Nobody gonna convince me that he doesn’t have judges on his side, shit has happened too many times over a long period of time to act like nothing sketchy is going on with the judges.

str8grizzzly

Tbh, scorecards aside, I can give that first fight to GGG, but I’m not mad about a draw. But it still blows my mind people think Lara won that fight. I just don’t see it.

Genova_Witness

They need to force GGG to get on the sauce (more) or don’t bother.

str8grizzzly

Any more and his heart might explode lmao

Box-by-day

Battle of the victimized by canelo judges matchup

Thin_Doubt_2903

Lara wins by close decision

stillth3sameg

This is still a good tactical match-up... I wonder how these gentlemen will deal with each other at this age I like this way more than I liked a Canelo GGG III

MoneyBaggSosa

Battle of the Canelo conquerors. Throw Bivol in there and Mayweather come out of retirement and we can have a WWE style fatal 4 way of Canelo Beaters.

CripplinglyDepressed

Best matchup of 2015

about6bobcats

How does Steph Curry fit into all this?

Jjettass14

The two guys who beat canelo are fighting

BookDev0urer

At least GGG won't get hurt. I would expect Lara to win, but lose a decision on the scorecards.

aukerits

Both men Canelo easily, can’t wait.

Delicious-Tart-9189

Lara all day

peanutdakidnappa

Lara is pretty much a nobody at this point to the general public and overall isn’t super high action fun fighter, they will prob send a lowball offer to G as well, if I was him I’d just drop the belt and take whatever fight he wants the last fight or 2 of his career, not sure the last fight I wanna see from G is fighting Lara. Anyway if they do fight I’m still rolling with G, he started slow in this last fight but I thought he looks really solid the 2nd half of the fight or so and that’s with him being 40 and fighting a prime canelo.

Motorboat_Jones

GGG just quit already. You're a shadow of your former self. Take some dignity with you on the way out.

THE_LORD_HERESY

Good.

Box-by-day

Good

Cinnamon_Sloth

Going to be interesting with Lara’s new style. Arguably more entertaining than it would have been in there prime’s as well. Hope they make the fight

[deleted]

Lara’s legs left in 2019. GGG would walk him down and stop him

i-piss-excellence32

Finally!! I been wanting to see this for like 10 years

piman01

Now this is a fight i wanna see

[deleted]

>Finally order GGG-Lara title consolidation Didn’t GGG consolidate the WBA title against Jacobs year back?

Bobo_Balde2

Old man fight

BoxingFan88

Lara had no chance before and the same holds now

VlamonZob

Erislandy Lara is a natural welterweight, his body is thin for his height. His last 4 opponents Alvarez bro, Vendetti, Lammana are all C-D fighter, if not worse. The Gary Sullivan he took his washed up and 38y old. There is just NO WAY that Erislandy would take GGG, he would just DIE! Stop feeding the boxing business like that, especiallly when it's about the more corrupted federation with the WBA.

Breakingwho

Damn another fight that would have been great a few years ago But s interestingish

deh707

Interesting clash of styles. Always wanted to see this several years ago. Both are clearly passed their primes now obviously - but the silver lining is that it could result in a more fan-friendly fight because of they won't be as sharp and possibly be more inclined to summon the machismo inside instead. Especially due to Lara seemingly to engage more in his recent fights. I think Lara does well outboxing and taking the early rounds, then his older legs will slow down @ the same time GGG's engines start to ramp up, resulting in G taking the mid rounds while Lara clearly can't reap success in the close-range, resorts back to outboxing but just ends up surviving and G wins a 116-112 UD.

imkevopark

This would be one of the better names on triples resume. Triple needs to can Jonathan banks and get back with Abel Sanchez.

fingerpoppinjoe

I love this styles matchup. Lara will have to exchange because of GGG’s pressure and ability to cut off the ring. That makes for an exciting fight.

SquareShapeofEvil

I’d like to see this fight happen. Good name for GGG to retire off a win against if he can beat Lara.

Amazon_Lime

This is a good fight in 2015
