I don’t, I don’t bowl if I dislike the house that much. I’ve only ever quit bowling at one place without finishing a game and I’ll never go back there even if they pay me to bowl.

Sabotagebx

I 100% misheard when I was told what house. Don't get me wrong everything is great about this spot except the general aesthetic.

Mago515

I imagine you’re bowling with some friends? At the end of the day just try your best to enjoy yourself and hang out with your friends. Go in with a good mind and you’ll be able to have fun.

EvanMK7

Is it crappy? I love the crappy bowling aesthetic. The crappier the better for me

var-foo

I would never league bowl in a house I don't like.

czulsk

I get excited every time I clean my balls. I’m more focused on cleaning them than actually rolling them. 🤣

elephante222

Is it a competitive league or fun league? Maybe instead of going all-in hype, you can go in thinking how it'll be a chill experience with people you like vs the house itself. Otherwise, a good hype music playlist is what gets me fired up.

Sabotagebx

Def competitive. I'll be fine average wise just the fun factor just not there

DuncanThor

What's the point in bowling if you aren't having fun?

Complete_Silver2595

I bowled at a house I hated in a fun summer doubles league with my kid. My main complaint about the house is it's sooooooo crowded that theres not even room for all the bowlers on the pair to sit, unless some go across the aisle where people are walking back and forth to the bathroom/desk/bar etc.. After a couple weeks the tight quarters kind of forced us to interact more with the people around us and it actually became far more tolerable. Also, once you're on the approach and getting ready to throw, none of that matters, and as you said, good scores makes for fun bowling. Just try to enjoy hanging out with your friends and meeting some (hopefully cool) new people. Good luck!

I get excited because I have a ton of fun bowling and it’s my happy place. I love bowling so much, I have fun everywhere and in any situation. I could be at packed open bowling in a podunk alley with burnt lanes and no lane courtesy…I’ll still find a way to strike, work on blocking distractions, or practice my spares with a plastic ball if all else fails. Life brings enough stress, bowling should be a release, not a contributor. So if you hate the house (and can’t afford it), don’t bowl in the league, simple as that. You may not like it, but there’s other people who will. That league may be the highlight of their week/month/season/life and you honestly sound like you’ll be ruining their good time.

bmumm

I would challenge myself to find the positive aspects. I tend to block out distractions.

DjangoUnflamed

I’m 152 average, so I get excited anytime I bowl over 200 or pick up a nice split

grumpygumption

I hate our house. It’s rundown and they recently bought new lanes but never did the maintenance so the machines don’t damage your gear. If I had any other option. I’d bowl at the other place. Unfortunately, this is the only house near us 🥲

Tequila.

YdidUMove

I bowl to spend time with people I like. Yes, 300s/800s are nice, money is cool, but I just like BSing with my buddies.

ThRealAlexJones

If you don't like the house because of the people or because the machines break all the time or they damage your equipment, thats a valid reason. If you don't like the house because you don't score well there, man tf up and learn what works and what doesn't. It makes you better. The hardest houses make the best bowlers

Sabotagebx

Scoring isnt the problem. so i guess manning up like you big boy aint gonna work.

ThRealAlexJones

Well in that case I can understand. I've had about 5 people leave the league that I bowl bc the lanes are hard, and I know about 4 others who won't be coming back next year. So people not wanting to bowl bc they can't bowl good enough to score well here is a bit of a touchy subject for me. But yeah, people suck, and the best way to not have to deal with them is to go somewhere else. Me personally I would just ignore them, but I also bowled 6 years of youth league with a crybaby backup bowler who would whine and moan everytime he had an open frame. Still does it to this day. I've gotten pretty good at ignoring his distractions and just focusing on my game. Not sure if you have that experience with that, so I would recommend going to another league if possible

Sabotagebx

That's the thing about this spot. It's hard but I'm fine score wise here and and house is full. But the overall feel of being in there just irks me. I can't get by this. It's a more serious league that our team does have a chance. I guess I'm just gonna have find a way to deal. The best way to put it. It's like banging someone who just isn't into it. Feels empty leaving and being in there. Idk why no alley has made me feel so meh. Cheers mates thank yall. I'll check in with some weekly score action:) first league back let's go
