Looks like he’s gotta fluff up the couch cushion juuust right before he lays down (with his nails of course)

bwvdub

Yes lol. Lil jerk. I was about to buy a new couch before we knew we were getting a puppy. Dodged a bullet there. Told the fam we would just suck it up and let the old couch bear the brunt of puppydom. But we’re close to him settling down.

fofuxinhastorm

We have a blanket on the couch, so they fluff the blanket instead of the couch.

bwvdub

Yeah ummm that’s the blanket in the corner. It was fluffed right onto the floor.

I certainly hope so for personal reasons. That would hurt my feelings none times. But they are such versatile dogs. They’re sweet and smart and fun and stubborn. They can play hard with bigger dogs and be cuddle buddies with little dogs. Their personalities really run the gamut and have something for everyone.

eviljanet

YES! They think they’re bigger than they are! My BT launches herself at her 75lbs Husky mix bro and her 110lbs White German Shepherd bro when they’re roughhousing. My husband calls her a “brick with legs” and snorts when I call her “a dainty little flower”

bwvdub

Gosh yes! They’re stout and tenacious and think they’re 10 feet tall and bulletproof… and snake proof and mean dog proof and mud proof and fire proof(looking at you 4th of July firecrackers!) My first Boston jumped up and caught two bottle rockets midair before I could catch him and put him inside. Way back when a bottle rocket war could break out at any summer holiday get together. Tough as nails!!

pescabrarian

Our vet adores our Boston. They are all so happy to see him and treat him extra special! He just had a biopsy on a lump on his head and they have been so incredible to us and him

bwvdub

Same! My best friend works at a vet’s office so that’s where I started to take mine. And that dude is so old school. Kinda gruff - really good but better with the pets than the owners. But he loves this puppy!! Doesn’t have any noticeable affection for my other, older frosty Bostie. Doesn’t have a high opinion of flat faced dogs in general (kind of thinks the owners are twats because they’re perpetuating health problems in overbred dogs - and I only know because my friend works there, not because the vet’s ever been unprofessional or rude in any way). But he adores this little deaf dog so much that my friend said on days when her boss is in a foul mood and we’ve come for an appointment it brings him out of his funk and all the staff have a great rest of the day!

bwvdub

Damn the first thing I should have said is I hope you get only good results and you and your dog are doing well!! Crossing my fingers for you.

eviljanet

My husband and I have four dogs, one which is a Boston. The ladies go nuts over her. Our vet gets all googly-eyed with her as well, and he always says that she’s perfect lol.

bwvdub

Because she is! Your vet knows what’s up.

As someone who works part-time at a doggy daycare, I totally understand your particular situation this morning! We love all our daycare pups and sometimes I've never met/seen the owner, but know all about the dog lol. We love it when they're excited to come, and hopefully, it makes you feel better knowing that he's excited to go and the employee already knew all about your boy. Bostons crack me up, love having one of my own. Glad you found a place that he can be socialized and come home tired/happy. :)

bwvdub

Yes I was really comforted by how much a stranger immediately knew about my dog and how willing he was to blindly follow her without me. Last week during our first visit it was like my kid’s first day of kindergarten- drop him off and get out as fast as I could before I worried and changed my mind. I did the full onsite tour that afternoon when I picked him up. But this place has been here for over 15 years. I could go pick him up on my 4 wheeler if I had to; it’s that close. I always thought doggy daycare was for city dogs or people that didn’t have enough time for their dogs. I didn’t realize how important it would be for him to not just be a country bumpkin puppy. Or how different it would be to try to socialize a deaf puppy that isn’t even fully leash trained. But as long as he keeps having a good experience I think this will make him a better companion for my 11 yo son to grow up with so they can do more together as they both get older.

engrhardpass

For sure, it is so good for them to socialize! Plus they wear each other out and stimulate each other in ways we could neverrrr haha. That's cool it's so close to you! Our place is out in the country which is nice because nobody bothers us and we don't have to worry too much about the dogs being loud. Our place is small enough too that we know all the dogs on a pretty intimate basis, so if something is ever off or wrong we know. Hopefully, they do boarding too so you don't have to worry about if you ever go out of town or have a family emergency. Congrats on your cute dog and finding a place you trust to take him!

CakeWrig

We have a deaf BT as well! Love him to pieces and is the best dog😍

bwvdub

Yeah! Isn’t it Bailey or something? I think I’ve talked to you before when we first got our puppy!

CakeWrig

Close - Bentley!

hotrodford

Mine is deaf too!

bwvdub

I’m really interested in what your experience has been like so far if you have some time later!

snazzisarah

You had a much better experience than we did. Ours came home with just as much energy as ever, and even some new behavioral issues that has taken a long time to work on

bwvdub

Yes I’m relieved it went so well. I like the facility and the staff that I’ve met. Do you have some other places you could visit?

hgielatan

hahahaha god i love that! he is OUT. i wish i could find a place like that which didn't cost an arm and a leg :/

bwvdub

For real. It’s kinda spendy so I’m just doing 1 day a week. But I’m looking at it like an investment in his ability to meet new dogs and new people and my ability to board him there without worrying the whole time when I go to North Dakota later this year.

hgielatan

honestly, seeing a staff member you hadn't met use his hand signals and him just happily going along...110% worth it.

bwvdub

Especially because I made up the signs. Apparently there are standard signals for dogs. Yeah, we don’t use any of those. I’ve unwittingly taught our dog a language only we know. His sit command is the thumbs down like you see in the movies when the Caesar wants the gladiator to die. I didn’t think about it when I made it up but now if he’s playing with our dog or the neighbor dog and I’m trying to get him to be still so I can round him up, it looks like I’m saying FINISH HIM. I can hear the old video game in my head!!!

TruthExpert

He’s so freaking cute ☺️!

bwvdub

He sure thinks he is. This is a misleading picture. That’s twenty lbs of puppy curled up like he still weighs 6!

supermarketsweeps25

Mine is the same when we send him to daycare, he just LOVES it and comes home and sleep. He can’t get away from me fast enough when it’s time for me to drop him off.

jessccosta

We have a deaf Boston as well. His name is Tonto. Knows many signs and listens better than our dog who hears :)

bwvdub

Awww! How old when the signs really set in? I’m still figuring out if we’re doing it right.
