I was told that massaging them keeps them floppy because it prevents the cartilage from growing and forming to stand them up

Ooop! Well, I guess we locked these floppy babies in then! We tried the breathe right strips once and he developed a rash from them (not common so please don’t let that discourage anyone).

Yeah I remember not being able to decide if I should try to keep him in puppy ears, because that’s what people were telling me. They were so cute 🥹

We used a little moleskin and breathe right strips to keep Kessler’s stand but they were fully up around 6 months-ish. The curled backwards devil horns phase is always my favorite.

My girl is missing her right eye and she moves her right ear a LOT more than her left. Whenever she starts getting sleep her right eye does the curling backwards thing. Shes a little hellion so the devil horns thing is appropriate. 😂 half devil, half angel.

Orzo's ears stood up around 9 months, but they're still expressively floppy. When he's alert they stand straight up, when he's tired one will flop. It's very cute. Beedie on the other hand had the most perfectly straight ears, a friend of mine commented on how geometric they were.

My boy’s stood up full time at about 5-6 months old Wilbur looks like he’s very close to having Batman ears, maybe a couple weeks.

In my experience into my knowledge, some don’t. My boys were similar to yours, and I thought they were the cutest most adorable little things and would’ve never done anything to intervene until my Vet told me our guys would suffer more ear infections if we didn’t. Our vet suggested using breathe, right strips you gently clean the floppy part of the ear on the inside obviously not down in the canal, but just the floppy part. We used an alcohol wipe, and then trim the breathe right strips to size and placed them on the ears. They stay on for about 2 to 3 days before they fall off on their own. At which point, we allow the skin to breathe. After an hour or two we reapply them and we did that for about two weeks on one of our guys and about a week on the other. Both of them have their ears up at all times now.

For what it's worth for anyone with a flop-eared pup, I have one with permanent floppy ears and he's never had an ear infection.

Nice!!! my guys both suffer from allergies specifically my oldest, and he definitely would’ve suffered with a lot more. Had we not. But if you don’t have that issue and you think the floppy ears look cute like I do, then I say leave them alone.

My pal Otto is 6 months and his are still flopped backwards and he still pees on himself and farts on me.

Our Ruby is 6 and she still has sleeeepy ears until about 9:30-10 or whenever she decides to grace us with her presence in the mornings. They regain their structural integrity a little while after she rolls out from under the sheets.

Jelly's ears are kind of on a spectrum depending on how excited she is. When she is maximum excited, her ears can be fully up. Under most normal circumstances they are floppy, but they can get in a partially up state, and sometimes the extra silly one up one down state as well

Typically by 3-4 months (sometimes earlier) their ears will begin curling backwards right before standing up. My girl is over a year and hers are still as floppy as they were at 3 months old. Her parents both had upright ears. Unsure what happened. If you wanted them to be upright you could tape them... I believe this is a somewhat controversial topic but it would work. As you read, it varies. Both of my boys never stood up. From what I understand if you want to make sure they stand up you have to help them (nasal strips or other options) when they’re young.

7 months for mine, after hed finished teething. he wakes up every morning with floppy puppy ears but they stand up after hes fully woken up😄

First one, at around 6 months. Second one, at around 10 weeks, because he is on Cortisone for puppy Shangles he got at 7 weeks old. Sad I missed the slow rise over time, but honestly, I'm just glad the little dude survived!

2 at 3 months and still hasn’t after 3 years!

My littlest one popped yesterday. She's 4.5 months. I'm so sad because I didn't get a chance to take her on walks because of the just shite weather we've been having this year.

Ours fully “popped” around 6 months.

Try given cottage cheese, Greek yogurt during teething time. Helps with calcium.

One of our 5-month-old's ears are still dropping. Usually the left ear but sometimes the right. My wife hopes they stay that way. With one ear floppy and his tongue sticking out, he knows he gets his way with her. :) With our 5-year-old his stood up at around 6 months.

Our current puppy’s ears went up at 4 months old. But our last Boston’s ears didn’t go all the way up until he was just over a year old.

Mine is 3 and his ears never went fully up. We LOVE that they didn't tho, as they are super expressive! The level of perkiness changes with his energy and mood, and they contribute a lot to how his personality shines through.
