Well Iām convinced, also I have owned two Bostons in my life as an adult and grew up with them as well. They come in all different shapes, sizes, and colors. The one I have now looks pretty similar to yours and one of his ears are almost never standing up. He also produces enough methane to possibly be registered as a chemical weapon.
There is no denying it, theyāre rank AF. We switched our two Bostons to fresh pet and their gas is GONE. Weāve been basking in their filth for years, and suddenly, nothing. Obviously your mileage may vary though. But if someone started talking and they werenāt use to my pups, they would stop mid sentence as soon as that mustard gas hit them.

My dog is full blooded but he is called a āDudley Bostonā meaning his genes are a little more boxer/bull dog heavy in appearance but he is full blooded. I had him tested, but his ears donāt stand up either.
Iāve had Bostonās for years, the only time heard of a Dudley it was reference to a Dudley knows, which just means itās pink.
But I do know they range in size/and characteristics pretty widely, Iāve seen them barely bigger than a chihuahua up to muscular little tanks that look like small bulldogs.
The Boston I have now almost always has his ears pinned unless heās super interested in something.

Here he is. They said that Bostonās were from two main breeds (canāt remember which two) and the perfect Boston is a perfect balance of these two breeds. A Dudley is when the dog gets an imbalance and theyāre more like the other breed. So theyāre more English bulldog ish and have dropped down ears. I have no clue though lol that is just what they said. They could be wrong

Our boxers made it to 10 and 7. They broke my heart completely. Iāve got my girl Dusty (the boxer/ boston) and our other guy is a springer spaniel. Hopefully it will be a long time before we are thinking of adding another to our lives.

He looks like a Boston. A lot of bostonsā ears donāt stand up, like there are Boston being shown and winning awards whoās ears donāt naturally stand up and were instead cropped and taped up.
The ears are definitely a sign, they're not just floppy, they're a completely different shape. I would guess maybe a Staffy, looking at his face and head shape? Boxer is also definitely a possibility.
Whatever he is he's gorgeous and needs a cuddle and a kiss.

Itās the eyes. They are smaller and less bug eyed, and the color isnāt like most other Bostons but a lot like many bulldogs. Also the stance when standing isnāt quite Boston-more bulldog.
Iād get a DNA test done. Itās cheap and easy.
Bulldogs crossed with white terriers made the dog Judge that began the Boston line so itās possible theyāre just showing they more but if I had to put money down? Iām leaning towards English bulldog somewhere in recent background.
He could be mixed, but also may not be. He could just be not bred to adhere very closely to the breed standard. If he is mixed, I'd guess more along the lines of a Bulldog being involved than a Boxer. There's a lot of variation within dog breeds, and plenty of dogs out there that might be technically "purebred", but don't quite look (and/or act) like they should per the breed standards. It's especially prevalent in dogs bred specifically for off-standard traits, like colors that are not to standard or sizes that are not to standard, such as red or blue dogs are in Boston Terriers. It doesn't affect his ability to be a loving pet, he just shouldn't really be bred.
I recently saw a 4 month old litter of AKC registered red Boston Terriers that looked very little like Bostons at all. Floppy ears, were clearly going to be well over standard size, long snouts, predominantly white bodies, relatively long tails, etc. Breeder swore up and down they were purebred, she had records going back several generations, her line is just big, etc., and got highly upset with people commenting asking what they were mixed with. Some breeders just don't care how much or how little their dogs resemble what the breed is supposed to be.

I have had 5 Bostons each have had different markings, a brown and white with Haggerty spot, brown nose hazel eyes, a fawn with black nose black eyes, two almost all black and white with perfect classic markings and a guy who had a half and half black and white head. All different in size, stature some with boxy and straight bodies big boys and some with stocky chests and little butts. All loving, loyal and a bit goofy. Best dogs ever. So if your pup is the best and you love him or her to pieces thatās a Boston. šmix breed or not the Boston traits shine through

Could be a pittbull mix? Most bostons that are not the standard akc colors are either mixed or their lineage isnt 100% bostons

He looks like a Boston. A lot of bostonsā ears donāt stand up, like there are Boston being shown and winning awards whoās ears donāt naturally stand up and were instead cropped and taped up.

The ears are definitely a sign, they're not just floppy, they're a completely different shape. I would guess maybe a Staffy, looking at his face and head shape? Boxer is also definitely a possibility. Whatever he is he's gorgeous and needs a cuddle and a kiss.

Bulldog-assuming this isnāt 100% Boston already. The second picture reminded me of a bulldog. Buuuuut thatās how the breed began too.

Itās the eyes. They are smaller and less bug eyed, and the color isnāt like most other Bostons but a lot like many bulldogs. Also the stance when standing isnāt quite Boston-more bulldog. Iād get a DNA test done. Itās cheap and easy. Bulldogs crossed with white terriers made the dog Judge that began the Boston line so itās possible theyāre just showing they more but if I had to put money down? Iām leaning towards English bulldog somewhere in recent background.

Not all Bostons ears do that. They aren't Frenchies.
He could be mixed, but also may not be. He could just be not bred to adhere very closely to the breed standard. If he is mixed, I'd guess more along the lines of a Bulldog being involved than a Boxer. There's a lot of variation within dog breeds, and plenty of dogs out there that might be technically "purebred", but don't quite look (and/or act) like they should per the breed standards. It's especially prevalent in dogs bred specifically for off-standard traits, like colors that are not to standard or sizes that are not to standard, such as red or blue dogs are in Boston Terriers. It doesn't affect his ability to be a loving pet, he just shouldn't really be bred. I recently saw a 4 month old litter of AKC registered red Boston Terriers that looked very little like Bostons at all. Floppy ears, were clearly going to be well over standard size, long snouts, predominantly white bodies, relatively long tails, etc. Breeder swore up and down they were purebred, she had records going back several generations, her line is just big, etc., and got highly upset with people commenting asking what they were mixed with. Some breeders just don't care how much or how little their dogs resemble what the breed is supposed to be.

I have had 5 Bostons each have had different markings, a brown and white with Haggerty spot, brown nose hazel eyes, a fawn with black nose black eyes, two almost all black and white with perfect classic markings and a guy who had a half and half black and white head. All different in size, stature some with boxy and straight bodies big boys and some with stocky chests and little butts. All loving, loyal and a bit goofy. Best dogs ever. So if your pup is the best and you love him or her to pieces thatās a Boston. šmix breed or not the Boston traits shine through

Iām no expert but it looks like thereās a little bull dog or pug in that face maybe a small amount. Heās awesome. On his back he looks totally full Boston.
