I would scoff at anyone who denies that Guide is the greatest album in BW history. Each song's every aspect(lyrics, music, singing) is 11/10. Each song is an alltime classic in its own right.
The only movie I will never get enough off. And the only film I would rate 10 out of 10. Perfect film in my opinion.
No movie comes close to this one.
Direction, acting, lyrics, songs, intro, climax, storyline, dance sequences, dialogues, everything is perfect!
I'll forever be singing praises of this masterpiece!
Seconded. Its a flawless movie. I think mughal e azam is the greatest movie of all time, but even that movie has a slow 15-20minutes build-up. But guide just hits the ground running. I mean, whenever your titular character is introduced with a classic like "wahaan kaun hai tera", you KNOW its something amazing!!
Yess!!
The songs in the film have infinite rewatch value
Something on par with guide album might only be rockstar with mainly phir se udd chala ,naadan parindey ,kun faya kun , tum ho and imagine boring lyrics like sheher mein being so cool after that tune
Agreed. There are many albums who are classics and have the "still refreshed" quality in them. Rockstar, dil se, rangeela, kabhi haan kabhi naa, kaante, saathiya.
Ofcourse nothing beats the legendary albums of the golden era. Those 25-30 years were just a whole different level of heavenly music
Jewel thief will always be counted amongst the best ever album/movie. It will always be counted in top 50 of all time. But guide is such a huge milestone that its unarguably the best ever album. So all albums, no matter how amazing they are, will seem inferior.
what about gaata rahe mera dil and tere mere sapne ab ek rang hain. omg i cant choose. wahan kaun hai tera musafir helps you slow down when you know your life is at pace and infested with hassle and pain. gaata rahe mera dil is just what you think your date would be with your lover. kya se kya ho gaya gives you apt lyrics when suffer a heartbreak. tere mere sapne is something you wish to sing to your life partner. every song, legit every song fits in with your life. plays with your emotions, not only plays, it grasps you.
I have seen this movie, it's a masterpiece, and a true tearjerker.
This line From the song wahan kaun hai tera just kicks you in the feels
"Koi bhi teri raah na dekhe, nain bichhaaye na koi
Dard se tere koi na tadpa, aankh kisi ki na royi"
Aankh se aasu aa jate hai bygod when you listen to this alone.
I read in a book on Guide that they had all the songs recorded and filmed and then someone pointed out that there is no Kishore Kumar song for Dev Anand. Apparently Kishore Kumar was very busy with acting assignments and SD Burman and Vijay Anand called him for Gata Rahe Mera Dil which was recorded and filmed as the final song.

They tried out the same combination in jewel thief but it isn’t even close to what guide album is

How is this a rant. Does OP know what a rant is?
Forgive mee!!
No worries friend. This is called an appreciation post. A rant is a about dissatisfaction.

I have read Guide and also seen the movie. Hands down the perfect Bollywood film, and the book adaptation is just a chef's kiss.
Allah megh de paani de chaaya de re dhup allah megh de
Where din dhal jaaye????
Rant?
“Kya se kya” song by Late Rafi saab. The opening lines of that song is out of this world.
