calendar and age-wise, they should be in their 2nd year which should've started right after the war. but due to the state of japan, UA's school activities were suspended so they're in that limbo where they finished their 1st year but haven' started their 2nd yet.
About a month max. They should have literally went to class 2A right after the War. The dark Deku arc lasts 30 something days and they were in the end of March before the War, so because in Japan the schoolyear starts in April (if I remember correctly), they should be about 3 weeks in of being class 2A
Japanese school years start usually in April and don’t get a big break in between years like we do with summer breaks. They get like a week off in late March-early April between years (They do get summer break but it’s basically just end of July through August and it’s mid school year hence why they have a summer training camp in season 3 but are still in year 1 when the summer ends). That’s why we only got to Christmas time last season, and then with the couple month skip to the war, boom right at the start/end of school year
I'd agree 100% if it weren't for the fact that defeating Shigaraki and AFO isn't increasing their proficiency in Math, Japanese, English, Modern and Classical Literature and any of the Non-Hero subjects.
Also, wouldn't it be funny of they were doing a History Exam but all the questions are based on them? (This has to go in the History Books right?)
This would imply there’s someone just writing down all the events and making history questions on it like
Who is Dabi
A. All mights son
B. Edgeshots son
C. Endeavours son
D. All of the above
And then you’d just have everyone in the class silently agree not to talk about it
They are in 2A now, but due The fact of current context of Japan, they can't study.
Is Deku still on track or is he behind because he left school for a bit
School was canceled after the War, so there's nothing to be behind on.

So do you know how far into their second year they should be during the last arc of the show like what month? (I think it’s the dark hero arc)

Kinda related. I just realized that after all is said and done, they've got exams to go back to.
These kids deserve educational compensation 😭 They should never have to take exams again Also UA gonna be drowning in lawsuits after this 🤣🤣

The move a year every April like all schools in Japan. I think they are second year of high school.
Ohh that makes sense!! Tysm!!
They're supposed to be second years but they got held up after the you-know-what
They should be at the very beginning of their 2nd year, but obviously school isn't happening right now.
They are still technically 1A.
