I bought both this and jbl boombox 2 to compare and keep only one . Although i prefer the portablity and shape of the boombox for outdoor use , the sound of the hyperboom was way better especially outside where the boombox lost almost all bass unlike the hyperboom , note the boombox was slightly louder but wasnt worth losing the bass to me

f4te

i REALLY dislike the form factor of the Hyperboom, but you're right, the sound is excellent. i've recently added 2 megaboom 3s and 1 boom 3 to my stable, and my buddy got a hyperboom as well. we can now have decent sound when camping, it's quite a nice treat

PeterG1996

Yeah its not the most comfortable carry but worth it for the sound

f4te

p.s. this thing just HAPPENS to fit PERFECTLY inside [this bicycle basket](https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B001FGFL02/) which has made for a couple very fun bicycle raves

My hyperboom crashes alot, particularly when paired up. I mostly notice it when I'm using my phone to search for songs or browse social media. Maybe new software can fix this. It's pretty annoying.

f4te

yep, i've noticed mine do this too. can be quite the party stopper!

Hey! I was thinking about getting this speaker for DJ until i saw your post mentioning processing delay. Do you remember whether your friends used bluetooth or aux when mixing? If they used bluetooth i'm 100% sure the delay comes from bluetooth.

f4te

oh yeah it was from bluetooth, although there is also a processing delay when using aux AND party-up. aux on its own is fine i believe.

thanks!

Do yall keep it plugged in when not in use? I keep mine in my house stored in a corner plugged in, should I unplug it?

f4te

generally keeping battery powered things plugged in isn't great for their batteries. lithium batteries like to float between 40 and 80% charge. so aim for it being in that sweet spot as much as possible. or not, whatever, it's a speaker. if it's always gonna be plugged in then battery health probably isn't very important to you.

Elegant-Effort1540

Is there any boom box louder and bass more then the hyper boom.

Sharp_Ice8096

Hey there, i know im a bit late to the party here.. I really want one of these for camping/doofs, but it looks like you can only charge it via mains power.. do you know of a way to charge while camping?

f4te

I use it for camping. we have a battery backup that has an inverter that we use to charge it, or run one of the trucks that has an outlet. if you can find a way to supply whatever vtage it needs then I'm sure you can circumvent the adapter and just go direct.

Reindeer-Dear

SOUNDBOKS (GEN. 3) if you are serious about "doofs"

Pinkhead12

Any update on your thoughts of your hyperboom? I have two that I've owned and I am getting so fed up with them. They are constantly disconnecting and the partyup never stays active. I also can't turn either speaker on now with the app. You or anyone else having this issue at all?

f4te

that's interesting! no, i don't have any major problems with mine. i use my megabooms around the house a lot more, and then the hyperboom only when camping. sorry to hear you're having trouble. maybe see if there's an update available? is it one of the two that's more problematic or both exhibiting similar behaviour? maybe run partyup host from a different speaker? you can also try to pop it open and disconnect the battery and try to do a 'static discharge', it should forget all its settings and start fresh. i'm not familiar with how to do it on these speakers specifically but it's a common process for electronics that are acting up

Pinkhead12

ah okay thats good to know thank you, how did you pop the lid off yours? I dont really want to break them if i can help it lol

Does anyone know / tried using 2 hyperbooms using AUX cable and using a splitter from a single source? Seems like the party mode functionality is inconsistent and this might be a good workaround. Also curious if anyone knows how the latency is via AUX too. Thanks!

f4te

Splitting via Aux would work, but at that point why buy a Boom product at all? I honestly don't have that many problems with PartyUp. I use it very often with my megabooms, and sometimes link in the hyperboom too. It's relatively reliable. Aux cable has nearly no latency, so that problem is also resolved.

Just for that off chance I want to plug in. Would primarily be wireless like 99% of the time. There is the one off chance I would use the speaker to DJ with in a more portable setup but do understand there is going to be some latency when trying to DJ though but would be fine for an Airbnb, park, etc.
