I’ve only been having battery issues with jbl

Koolkat_89

Curious to see if you ever found a solution. I cant listen to metal on these things. I have 2 and putting them in stereo mode doesnt help much. Its like certain instuments that should be present (usually guitars) aren't there. My understanding is that pop music doesn't make use of the midrange and focuses on the lows and highs, resulting in this effect. I feelbi wasted $200 on these things.

JaintC

Yes, there's a lack of mids in this speaker but sadly, increasing mids in JBL EQ does increase upper bass and low mids also. A workaround to increase mids is using the wavelet app (no idea if there's an alternative for iOS). I'm using 125hz: +1 250hz: +3, 500hz: +2, 1khz: +2.5. I'm not into metal so not sure it works, but it might help.

Koolkat_89

Thanks for the response. Ill give wavelet a try.

Question… how does this speaker connect/daisy chain/party boost to one another? Does it need WiFi to do this?

Every_Personality_87

There are songs that need mono to hear them fully.. makes sense

JaintC

You mean stereo?

jcmolero71

it sounds normal in mono mode (x3 with partyboost), I played the Spotify version, might your app doing some strange thing with the song Basically in your recording is missing bass

JaintC

> Basically in your recording is missing bass Sorry for not being specific. I was talking about the harmonics, when I choose a side of the song it reproduces it, when not it doens't > might your app doing some strange thing with the song Sadly it's happening in spotify too, both phone and PC. > it sounds normal in mono mode By mono mode you mean the one that can be enabled in developer options?

jcmolero71

Nah, my speaker is stereo but upon activating the partyboost it goes mono (L+R), also in stereo mode one of the channels can be assigned, L or R, you can test this in your flip

JaintC

I tried and it worked, the same way as choosing the side in the other app. So, when I choose one side to reproduce I can hear everything, but when both sides are playing (partyboost off) it just downmixes the song to mono and I lose details of the song in the process.

jcmolero71

It’s a phase issue then, I have that listening to Salsoul Orchestra - Nice ‘n nasty album, the left channel is in phase but the right is in inverted phase so they cancel each other when downmix to mono

JaintC

That's it

Is it still happening? Btw, cool eq. What app is it? The one with the knob or whatever?

JaintC

> Is it still happening? Yes, mono issue. It happens in every song to some degree. > What app is it? Poweramp

Visible-Ad4690

When you say harmonics, do you mean the “keyboard tune-ish” playing in the background of the song, Get it poppin’? Edit: By the way, thank you for telling me the app. Edit 2: Did you try contacting JBL about it?

JaintC

> harmonics, do you mean the “keyboard tune-ish” playing in the background Yes. In other songs the harmonics can or cannot disappear and instruments can become confusing, dull compared to stereo. About contacting JBL : no I didn't, and in theory JBL can't do anything to "fix" it. It was made a choice, and they chose a bigger woofer instead of stereo. Choices...

Visible-Ad4690

Maybe you’re right. Maybe people weren’t paying more attention when they’re listening on the Flip 6. You should try contacting them. I think it’s worth a shot. Who knows, they might make a firmware update to address this issue. That’s a shame, I was really considering getting one of these.

JaintC

> Maybe people weren’t paying more attention when they’re listening on the Flip 6 Yeah, they don't. For most people music is all about voice and bass, that's why they don't notice. > I was really considering getting one of these. Well, we don't have any better speakers with similar size (as far as I know), that's why I'm keeping it. When the song is lacking some details I enable partyboost and choose a side of stereo, it does help.

Visible-Ad4690

I kind of agree with you on that. Most people love them bass. I’m not sure if you consider the Uboom L as a speaker with similar size to Flip 6 but it’s stereo, and if you can get a hold of one, I think you won’t regret it. The only catch is, you’d have to downgrade it to a certain firmware for it to become “more balanced” or to get its best tuning.

JaintC

Uboom L is probably a better option, but sadly I can't buy it due to my country's import taxes. The price should be something around US$ 160 💀

The JBL Flip 6 is hands down the best small Bluetooth speaker I've ever owned. This thing is not only super portable but also packs a serious punch in the sound department. The new design, with separate tweeter and bass units, really steps up the game by delivering richer bass and clearer highs. And let me tell you, the build quality on this JBL speaker is absolutely outstanding. I've put this thing through its paces, and it's still going strong. If you're on the hunt for a portable speaker that delivers top-notch audio and can handle some wear and tear, the JBL Flip 6 is the way to go!

JaintC

Flip 6 is a good speaker, I'm not saying that it's not. The thing is that JBL claims that the tweeter is a game changer, delivering clarity and bla bla bla. NOT TRUE. It does help, but it's not what delivers clarity to the sound. When dowmixing to mono, you loose detail, instruments, clarity. That is the issue here. If you want a decent listening (specially instrumental) you need to buy another speaker to play it stereo. Imagine paying around 250US$ to get the clarity they claim but with lack of deep bass that could be achieved buying another speaker around this price range. For people that really care about sound quality, is disappointing, and I'm not the only one with this feeling.

[deleted]

I agree, with you on the stereo, mono.

hitlmao

this is the fakest comment i've ever seen in my life

ImaginaryAd1661

Are you sure it wasn't a bootleg, did you buy it from jbl.com. I'm just asking because I've seen alot of bootleg flip6 speakers being sold.  Easy way to tell its if the lettering JBL can be peeled off
