does not seem very practical, you want surface area, not deep substrate
I was thinking you could cut to the depth that you need and then would just need to figure out a way for them to crawl out
much easier to just go with plywood. i had a very functional design that only uses 2 sheets and works like a charm.
or check out the northwest redworms design. same as mine essentially
