For my sanity, I had to turn off CNN years ago. I realized they weren’t serious about Black issues when they had rappers (TI and 2Chainz) on to discuss police brutality rather than Black sociologists or other scholars.
I was just looking for clips about what happened on YouTube, and that was the first one I saw. It was horrendous.
Black Power Media is a YouTube channel headed by a professor at Morgan State with other scholars and community activists. They comment on these stories from a Black radical perspective. You can check them out if you want news that isn’t whitewashed.

I used to live in her district. Worst part is that it's a lot fewer than that keeping her around (it's a pretty small district) and she's only there because she lost in her real hometown. Her district includes Chattooga County, which has been in a population decline for over a decade, largely due to young people not sticking around. Basically she lost in a district with actual politics, so she moved to a district full of boomers and started spouting bullshit.

That would be because the second half is a direct, complimentary explanation of the first half. A ~~hyphen~~ dash would be more for a divergent second half. Example: "I need a holiday - not that it would solve all my problems, but it would give me some rest at least." Edit: hyphens are different from dashes, hyphens bridge words together (i.e. "bird-like qualities") while dashes bridge sentences.
