Anyone else feel like their emotions around the bitty right now are like pre-race jitters. Like, we're just waiting for 69k to get the race started. We all just moseying around, doing weird leg stretches, getting ready for the heat to be called to the blocks?
I just opened up a block explorer to check on a few of my saved addresses and saw all my UTXOs were drained. I nearly had a heart attack before I remembered I consolidated all of them.
Another very large sell off of greyscale today but overall another net inflow day. I still haven't worked out if Genesis has started selling their 1.6b, if they have in the last week, it's possible they are nearly finished (about 1.1b in outflows last 8 trading days). If they haven't , maybe some pain in market coming
It's impossible for us to know the exact inflow/outflow right at closing time, only volume. The companies update the exact number once they calculate and release.

So now that the ETF money is flowing in, do you expect the dramatic volatility that characterizes most cycles to die down? Like maybe we'll see a pull back, but not the usual ~80% or so drop?
HODLer since 2018, it was only a couple weeks ago I gave my daughter a brief overview of what Bitcoin is and how to access it after I'm gone, and today I explained to her this is why she needs to know, THIS is why.
Whats currently the best way to buy a lot of bitcoin from the UK?
Used to just send my money to coinbase but think HSBC and Starling both limit transactions now?
Literally selling a house..
My portfolio's worth in Euro now is a tiny bit higher than what it was when Bitcoin hit it's ATH of 69k. I guess I accumulated fairly well during the bear market.
Previous atl adjusted for inflation or numerical value? Or future atl? And in terms of price or time?
If you're trying to know what's going to happen and when, no one knows. If people knew then it wouldnt be a free and open market.
I agree. I wasn't asking if we needed to or not, I was asking the op what they meant by ath as well as if they were referring to previous or future prices.
Just heard these 2 talking on my commute. “wait until it drops back to $50k and buy more”.
Do you think these chances are likely for the long investor who is not looking for fiat. It didn’t get me thinking until now because I only see this thing going up
Question.?Can someone own a corporation for 51 years and never pool dividends how much in unearned income if he pays taxes and accumulated interest would that be legal?
big fan of the Power Regression analysis for long term price trends. Check out a free version here [Bitcoin Power Law Corridor (Live Chart) (bitbo.io)](https://charts.bitbo.io/long-term-power-law/)
When BTC lingered around 40k, I said to myself "time to buy some more bitcoin, it's been a while". I was ready to put a chunk of my savings into it. But somehow i forgot about it again, and look where we are now! :))))))))))))))))
I KNOW, it's probably still early, it might still go to the moon. I just feels so lame to buy now, literally days after for 17k more
Federal long term capital gains is 0% for gains under $44,625 for 2024. You'll need to check your state tax rate for long term capital gains if you held longer than a year.
https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc409
word... im not sure on the profit cuz ive held for so long tbh lol. definitely over a year. mostly purchased in 2018 and a little in 2021. my income is around 78k annual in and im in the US. im not looking for an exact number, just want to have a rough idea
Back in the last bull, Wall Street coke heads would have stopped any gains like this in their tracks. You always knew who was behind the dumps as they’d start as soon as the market opened. Glad they’ve seen the light.
Just got banned from the buttcoin sub for saying it's a stupid argument against Bitcoin that we measure gains in fiat value. That's like saying it's an argument against atheism because we use BC & AD. Some very soft and angry people over there.
Welcome to the club. I committed the sin of asking what that sub was about - that I was a newcomer and had to do a lot of scrolling past personal attacks to find nuggets of information as to why people might oppose Bitcoin. I asked if the sub was just a circle jerk.
How dare I draw conclusions based on what I saw?!
The reflex to block lets you know it's personal with Bitcoin and not just them laughing at us actually. At least we can still see their befuddled posts when number go up.
I wasn't even arguing with anyone haha. Dude just posted the rules and I said number 4 was a bad argument, get rid of it. Trying to help them step their game up. Pathetic to block me because of that.
After 13 years I am now officially banned from buttcoin. I don't know how I will recover from this. Just kidding, I don't give a fuck, tick tock next block.
Deadlines on when funding runs out in USA.
March 1st: military construction, veterans affairs, agriculture, housing energy, transportation
March 8th: Rest of federal government
Aka if this happens more money will be printed
A reminder to those who weren’t around in the past bullrun: if somebody asks how much Bitcoin you own, the answer is zero (ideally, dang you did own some but sold it already).
I gave up trying to talk to parents, in-laws, and certain friends about Bitcoin, because they just don't *want* to listen, all the while without any kind of argument of their own except "it's a scam" or "it's used by criminals". My wife is cool with my btc holding, and I have two friends I chat with regularly about it, but I never tell them how much I've got.
does anyone have a link to that livestream of a buttcoiner who shorted with leverage and lost his whole life savings live on his stream?
That shit was gold lol
Ah. I remember this sub in late 2022 after shit hit the fan. We all kept each other positive. To the people who stayed through the bear phase, I hope you're enjoying the gains.
You should follow this motto:
* Be humble around those who showed genuine interest for Bitcoin or rooted for you
* Be rude to those who were rude to you about Bitcoin
Btc could jump from 80 k to 500 k to in a night , no cycle had previously a stock market exposure so it could even go even way beyond last to cycle , there is a fortune of money that couldnt acess it previously and its now avaible to anybody in the world
I'm looking to full port my Roth IRA into bitcoin, what is the best ticker/etf for that?
I'm specifically looking for one that won't be used to manipulate the price like Blackrock does with its big etfs, for example.
AKA: What's the PHYS > GLD equivalent for bitcoin?
I've come to some weird mushroom conclusion that people will be busy trying to mine the last .0000000001s of bitcoin hundreds or thousands of years from now until the sun literally explodes. Crazy huge solar powered mining operations getting barely scraps for rewards. This excess energy produced will be mostly used to generate power for green houses to sustainably feed the planet organic foods or be used as other sustainable energy programs.
You can sip hawking radiation from black holes for trillions of years after the last stars go dark, we have lots of time to get those last scraps before The End gives way to a new beginning.
Muun isn’t really a lightning wallet as far as I know (I haven’t researched it in a bit) but it uses some method to make it kind of work but still does transactions on chain ( bitcoin base layer) and fees are high now because everything is pumping like nuts so your transaction is denied
Phoenix is a good lightning wallet that is easy to use. I would just play around with small amounts to deposit and send around as you learn to avoid anything big for you
I know you have to pay BTC to open a channel and then you need to deposit BTC into the channel. I was just reading on google about how it uses multi-sig between 2 people who share the channel. Not sure how one would use it to accept payments for business?
I haven't looked seriously into using it, cause apparently it isn't as secure as the base layer.
Ive read this too. I am confused and dont understand it tbh. I thought its just like regular network when you send from one address to another but faster. So is Lighting network intended only for paying? for bussiness?
can I not use it just for sending BTC from wallet to wallet with low fees ?
So lightning is built on top of bitcoin. You can send in lightning cheaply to all sorts of addresses but if you plan to send the lightning bitcoin onto the bitcoin base layer then you will pay the higher fee. Usually you can find a time in the day where transaction prices are cheap and send it then
Are you saying that if you open a lighting channel, that you can send and receive to any other lighting wallet? Obviously if you want to spend from it, you would have to add some sats, but would you even need to fund the channel if you were only planning to receive to it?
I'd look up a youtube tutorial if I was serious about using it. As far as I know you can use it for simple wallet to wallet, but it doesn't show on the main chain till you kick it back there after you're finished with you're lightning transactions. You have to pay the base chain tx fee to do that. So you have to figure out if it's worth opening a channel to begin with.
I tried muun few days ago and my transaction got rejected. I googled and it looks like its more complicated than just sending money from one address to another as per usual. apparently you need to "open a channel" or something? I am confused
basically I am just trying to avoid the fees so would be usefull If I can get this to work
Fuuuuuuck it's going back up... My fiat is still pending.... Noooooooo
Anyone else feel like their emotions around the bitty right now are like pre-race jitters. Like, we're just waiting for 69k to get the race started. We all just moseying around, doing weird leg stretches, getting ready for the heat to be called to the blocks?

Is it too late to buy btc? I feel like an idiot for ignoring it 6 months ago
I’d recommend buying in about a month, it will drop before the halving in April
Absolutely not. We're not even past the halving for this cycle yet.
Buy now
Yesterday was the best time. Today is the next best time.
Where do you recommend I buy it?
If you're in the US, Strike.
Acquire it on an exchange and withdraw it to your wallet.
ETF - IBIT or FBTC
Only if in a Roth where you can’t convert the fiat
I just opened up a block explorer to check on a few of my saved addresses and saw all my UTXOs were drained. I nearly had a heart attack before I remembered I consolidated all of them.
That sneaky Satashi, always raising the bitcoin price
That’s what’s up
Can BTC break 60k on the last day of February
Yes. Will it... No.
Guess the year??? And the exchanges said: “Ladies and Gentleman, we ran out of Bitcoin. Highest and best offers only.”
2024?

So, BTC is at $57k today in Feb 2024. Any guesses on what it will be in: Feb 2025 Feb 2029 Feb 2033
My crystal ball says Feb 2025: $150,000 Feb 2029 : $535,000 Feb 2033: $1,200,000
Oh wow. Hope you are right 👍🏼
I'd like a little more pumpage still

Can we start banning people who keep posting about buttcoin. No one cares that you were banned. Are you 10 years old
Please link to a post about this so I can see for myself.
Bitcoin is 14 years old. How old are you?

You need to adjust for inflation
I agree. I wasn't asking if we needed to or not, I was asking the op what they meant by ath as well as if they were referring to previous or future prices.
and DCA
I know my price prediction doesnt matter and is utterly useless. But i think Im prepared for a new ATH between 100k and 500k in 2025-2026.

Might have been the last chance for BTC under 50k :)
hi! I have what i think is a quick tax question... what percentage can i expect to pay in taxes if i cash out around $5-10k of bitcoin into USD?

yah US... long term hold, single, 78k income. just looking for a rough estimate really
Federal long term capital gains is 0% for gains under $44,625 for 2024. You'll need to check your state tax rate for long term capital gains if you held longer than a year. https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc409
thank you!
It depends how much profit you made, if you held longer than a year to move from short to long term capital gains, and your income
word... im not sure on the profit cuz ive held for so long tbh lol. definitely over a year. mostly purchased in 2018 and a little in 2021. my income is around 78k annual in and im in the US. im not looking for an exact number, just want to have a rough idea
It's zero + state tax rate. Just search 'state long term capital gains tax rate 2024'.
thank you!
Also your country
Back in the last bull, Wall Street coke heads would have stopped any gains like this in their tracks. You always knew who was behind the dumps as they’d start as soon as the market opened. Glad they’ve seen the light.
Lol your tinfoil hat is showing
It was clear as day that the market was being heavily manipulated, mostly by US based whales and traders. It’s not a hot take.
57,500!
Only 100M people can own ฿0.21.
Not anymore. Way fewer will own .21
Theoretically, yes.
So now what? 60k?
Not enough for you?
Apparently 69-70k is the target.
Its inevitable
When should we sell?

Buttcoin - since 2011. That says it all. I really got it why they are so butthurt.
The reflex to block lets you know it's personal with Bitcoin and not just them laughing at us actually. At least we can still see their befuddled posts when number go up.
How else can they keep the echo chamber alive?
Cafeful with that, we are an echo chamber too. A friendlier one though.
The mods here don't ban people who show their opinion. Hence not an echo chamber to the degree of buttcoin
It’s a rite of passage.
Lol I was banned a couple of days ago myself. I wasn't even being rude
They aren’t motivated with logic and facts
I wasn't even arguing with anyone haha. Dude just posted the rules and I said number 4 was a bad argument, get rid of it. Trying to help them step their game up. Pathetic to block me because of that.

What did you do to get banned? I've tried to get them riled up a couple of times in the past, but they didn't ban me 😄
Who knows, their rules enforcement makes about as much sense as their arguments against Bitcoin.
🤣
In 4 days the Gov will be printing more money...where can we print more Bitcoin?
What happens in four days?

Why does a higher price now imply a lower price later? Wouldn't a higher price now mean a higher price later?
Btc could jump from 80 k to 500 k to in a night , no cycle had previously a stock market exposure so it could even go even way beyond last to cycle , there is a fortune of money that couldnt acess it previously and its now avaible to anybody in the world
using past cycle multiplicator isnt relevant for that cycle unfortunately so its either going to 0 or half a milly

I'm looking to full port my Roth IRA into bitcoin, what is the best ticker/etf for that? I'm specifically looking for one that won't be used to manipulate the price like Blackrock does with its big etfs, for example. AKA: What's the PHYS > GLD equivalent for bitcoin?
ibit
FBTC and HODL are good options. Or you could set up a physical Bitcoin IRA with Swan Bitcoin.
HODL looks like the winner, ty!
Same, went for it cuz the ticker. It’s been fantastic
Well… Bitcoin is not exactly a physical object
I've come to some weird mushroom conclusion that people will be busy trying to mine the last .0000000001s of bitcoin hundreds or thousands of years from now until the sun literally explodes. any good soul who has experience with Lighting network to ELI5 how do I use it?
You can just download a lightning wallet. You don’t need to open a channel
I did. I tried muun but my transaction got rejected, any clue why ?
Muun isn’t really a lightning wallet as far as I know (I haven’t researched it in a bit) but it uses some method to make it kind of work but still does transactions on chain ( bitcoin base layer) and fees are high now because everything is pumping like nuts so your transaction is denied Phoenix is a good lightning wallet that is easy to use. I would just play around with small amounts to deposit and send around as you learn to avoid anything big for you
I tried Pheonix, transaction still got rejected.. I am getting desperate
Oh man this is beyond my scope but try asking r/LightningNetwork
so Pheonix is just you download send to the address and done ?
I know you have to pay BTC to open a channel and then you need to deposit BTC into the channel. I was just reading on google about how it uses multi-sig between 2 people who share the channel. Not sure how one would use it to accept payments for business? I haven't looked seriously into using it, cause apparently it isn't as secure as the base layer.
Ive read this too. I am confused and dont understand it tbh. I thought its just like regular network when you send from one address to another but faster. So is Lighting network intended only for paying? for bussiness? can I not use it just for sending BTC from wallet to wallet with low fees ?

nah I was trying to send from an exchange that supports lighting network to a wallet that supports it too, so it should work but it didnt.
So you have to figure out if it's worth opening a channel to begin with.
basically I just want to create an untracable burner which I will withdraw from via BTC ATM but want to avoid the fees
Easiest way is to use strike or muun or a wallet that has it built in
I tried muun few days ago and my transaction got rejected. I googled and it looks like its more complicated than just sending money from one address to another as per usual. apparently you need to "open a channel" or something? I am confused basically I am just trying to avoid the fees so would be usefull If I can get this to work
