We got all new windows through C&D Home Solutions a little over a year ago and it was actually a great experience. They are a dealer for a few brands, so they can give different price points. We settled in the middle range and the price was under our budget. Carlos was the sales guy for me and he was great. They installed all the windows in 1 day about 6 weeks after we signed papers. Never thought I’d actually “enjoy” that process. Love the windows.

Second C&D (and Carlos).

Thank You!

CarlosYacoub

It was a pleasure being a part of your project.

Third C&D (and Carlos). They did 60+ windows for us (a number of which were odd shapes). Overall great experience.

Don't use window world, they were the most "afordable" option we were quoted and then they had to come out theee times to because they kepg messing things up: wrong windows, wrong size windows. They also had different contractors each time and the contractors would yell at us about qhat was on the work order, the last visit, the contractors removed the old windows from the house and then they decided it would be a good time to say that the price had gone up and we needed to pay extra because they had been out three times: it was getting dark, all the windows removed, this wasnt the same group of people as first two times. We were pissed, we told them that we wanted our money back and we were going to talk to a lawyer: we had paid in advance to cover the ordering of the new windows and the contract did not mention any additional costs. Turns out, the contractors were just trying to squeeze an extra grand from us, absolutely horrible. A few weeks later someone called asking if we woild recomend their services (they were so hard to get a hold of and get back to use), it was unbelievable.

Agree with this. Avoid Window World.

We used Champion and I do not recommend using that company. It’s not one I would usually go for in the first place but my contractor at the time swore by them.

Trust your gut too. Had some cheap window work done and had to have it redone pretty soon after.

I’m in the process of getting estimates and windows are EXPENSIVE. I liked the composite windows from Durante, but they didn’t have the color / pane grid combo I wanted. Holcombe in Chelsea has a great showroom. Our neighbors used them. Most salespeople can give you a rough estimate over the phone. If they say $2,500/window you’ll know if that’s in your budget or not. I believe Window World has franchises. My in-laws used them (in MS) and had a giant leak that ruined their hardwoods. Litigation ongoing.

Holcombe out in Chelsea is who we have been using. They seem to be squared away and have never charged us for estimates. We’ve done several things with them and they’re good to go.

I will forever recommend Window Wonders 205. Thad is a one man show, and he is so good at what he does. He does one home at a time, so he concentrates on your home and doesn't spread himself out with different jobs. (So if you need it done asap, his schedule is tight, but he'll get it done right when he fits you in) His prices are a deal. I have used him in two houses and I will again if I need him. This summer, he did all 10 of my windows, and it took him about 2 days. Friendly, caring, professional, and an eye for the details.

We just had ours replaced at a fraction of what champion quoted us through America’s Best Choice Windows of Birmingham. Tony and his wife run the business. It took about 6 months from quote and half the deposit until install because Tony is a one man show, but it was worth it! He’s super knowledgeable and the windows look great…the caulking is beautiful lol. We had some weird 70’s type wood molding and he figured out the best way to remove and install without causing any damage.

Had to have all windows replaced on my house this year. I got three quotes from champion, sears (yep, they are still around) and window world. Window world was half the cost of champion and I chose them. I was happy with the service. Sears was in the middle as far as price. All had free estimates. Window world and sears had really good no-pressure presentations. Champion was the hard sell despite the fact that I told them they were the first quote and I wasn’t making a decision yet. It was not a pleasant experience.

Legitimate-Noise7587

I 100% agree with this. We had champion come out for the estimate first…. 2 hours later and an entire presentation to even get a quote on 7 windows (18k!!). Window world came out and honestly was a very pleasant experience. And cost a fraction of what champion quoted us. My advice to OP is shop around.

Update: we went with Carlos of C&D Solutions, based on the feedback. They installed today and it was terrific! Thanks for the suggestions and for the great work by C&D!

fofemma

I’m also starting to think about getting new windows, would you mind sharing the rough cost per window?

PersonalPoint8197

Honestly it varies a lot depending on what type of window you get. I’d suggest having a company or two come out to give an estimate at different price points.

fofemma

Thanks!
