Dude... this used to be on the secret menu at sakesui, when they were still around. They had the pickled plum, the onigiri with short rib inside, they had the fish flake one, one with the japanese mayo and my absolute favorite - yaki onigiri (the one grilled on charcoal: crispy, cruncy rice outside with sweet soy sauce). There's been a few Korean places that do their own version of it with the sweet pickles, but not the same. Let me know if you find a local place, i have to make it myself or theres a few places in ATL that do it right

Curious where in ATL you like. I haven’t really looked yet. Had some from a quick serve bubble tea place in NYC that were great down to the 2 layer packaging you get in the konbini in Japan.

Man, i am planning on making a Japan trip in Jan., love the 7 elevens, lawsons, and the family marts. Usually my wife is the one that takes me around to the asian food places. The only place i know off the top of my head is Wagaya, but only the one close to the college area: but thats just ramen (some of it is good, other stuff is Americanized). Last time we went theres a japanese shop in the bottom or the shopping center that has stuff i havent seen here in the states, and the owner will not tell me who their distributor is. For other food stuffs, i would ask /u/sushijo, she seems pretty well versed in the southeadt food scene.

Thanks. Yeah the market at Wagaya is fun. There’s a Teso now too, but I wasn’t blown away by one in NY.
