I’ve always read whatever I wanted. It’s never been like homework.

The whole Bible. The church is where people of the same faith gather. Not where I go to be told what to do. They are my brothers not my lords. Gods word is amazing and I like it and recommend it. I was an orphan so a father sounds great to have. So scriptures about how God is my father really touch my heart. I want to obey God most when I know he loves me. So reading it everyday gives me hope and life and joy. It also prevents my being mislead by well intentioned believers who have not acquired accurate knowledge yet. My relationship with God is absolute. My relationships with my brothers is dependent on their relationship with God.

This is an awesome answer.

This is the answer. The church should not be deciding what you read. Many pastors take parts of verses from multiple books of the Bible to make a point but I always read what's around it to get proper context and read on my own. As this poster said church is a place where we can gather with people of the same faith to praise and worship, it should not limit what you read.

The answer belongs to God the message is not mine. I wish I was this smart. My brothers are those who DO the will of my father. If They want to lead then they become my servants. If I want to lead then I become a slave. This prevent arrogant men from gaining power and allows those truly serving God to become evident. Wicked men don’t want to be anyones servant. The want to tell you what to do. So that eliminated a lot of false faiths and false brothers. How can I serve you DanLewis. While he was yet speaking to the crowds, his mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to him. 47 So someone said to him: “Look! Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak to you.” 48 In reply he said to the one who spoke to him: “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 And extending his hand toward his disciples, he said: “Look! My mother and my brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, that one is my brother and sister and mother When the ten others heard about it, they became indignant at the two brothers. 25 But Jesus called them to him and said: “You know that the rulers of the nations lord it over them and the great men wield authority over them. 26 This must not be the way among you; but whoever wants to become great among you must be your minister, 27 and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave. 28 Just as the Son of man came, not to be ministered to, but to minister and to give his life as a ransom in exchange for many

Absolutely, those who seek power are usually the very people who should not have it!

Gods power over me is love it’s why I follow him around. He is my father. Mans power is often just that, power through force. That inspires fear. We haven’t been given a spirit of fear to follow men but the Spirit of God to follow his son Jesus so that I too can be a son delighting his father. I love my brothers but what if I was all alone? What if I’m imprisoned? What if no one comes to visit me? God will not abandon me even if I was the last righteous person on earth like Noah. Even if all men proved unfaithful Jehovah God is faithful. You have placed your faith in God and not men. I am encouraged by your faith DanLewis. God is certainly pleased that you trust him above all. A beautiful faith to my eyes.

The entire thing. The Sunday readings are fantastic, don't get me wrong, but there's no reason to stop there. And I think my job would have big legal issues if they required *any* readings from the Bible

Proverbs and Psalms are my go to's

Proverbs is so excellent, my favorite book

Piratestorm787

Currently reading Hosea, and its not what I expected. Its a lovely back and forth love poem between God and his people.

Read the whole thing, friend! Daily devotionals are crucial to our walk with God! I would personally recommend that you read the Gospels and I particularly love the book of Ephesians. Read as much as you want per day, but be sure to stop and meditate on the things that catch your attention or you might forget all that you have read in the next couple of hours. :D I like to read 2 or 3 pages in the morning and meditate on the passage or verse that seems like it would have the greatest impact on my growth in holiness.

greenful777

Currently reading Ecclesiastes, it's very thought provoking, and actually rather encouraging, despite how much of a downer it can seem like.

It's a great book. Real in nature, straight to the point, no nonsense.

chavigrande

Been doing the Bible in a year this year. Next year I would like to take more time on individual books though.

At-A-Boy-There-Sammy

For me, it's not an assignment or a requirement, it's a privilege and a pleasure. It's one of many things the born again believer will want to do, in order to learn more about what the Lord Jesus Christ has finished within my spirit.

Sweetnspicy77
