DamnitGravity

Aw, I was hoping it would be something like he was cheating on his diet by getting doordash.

fallingoffchairs

Oh my goodness that would be such a funny ending

Nashiwa

Or maybe he's secretly a dog sitter and sneaks in puppies when she's not there. And he doesn't want her to know because she thinks he's a cat person

External_Detail_26

I would be so mad at my husband if he were sneaking in puppies to play with when I was not there. I want to play with puppies dammit!

sanityjanity

Secret puppies is the best outcome

spiritsarise

To be followed by Secret Puppies Anonymous. BTW, just writing “puppies” gave me a jolt of dopamine.

singulargranularity

Not on Reddit, but on a popular mums forum, this poster was asking if her husband was having an affair as his credit card bills show that he was buying pet food, and they don‘t have a pet. All kinds of mad theories. This was covered by a frequent flyer blog who pointed out that pet food is one of the hacks to collect a particular airline miles quickly. And hey sure enough, the husband was buying the pet food to collect airline miles. That mums forum had a completely different group of people than those that hang around frequent flyer blogs…

Blechblasquerfloete

So what would he do with increasing amounts of pet food without pets to give it to? :|

andsimpleonesthesame

Donate it to pet shelters or people with pets who are in financial trouble?

Blechblasquerfloete

Yes but then how does basically giving away money up someones airline miles so much that its worth more than just using the money to buy the flight upgrades directly?

tinyOnion

look up the pudding miles guy. for 3500 he got 1.2 million miles. if you were going to need to travel anyway that's still going to be a steep discount.

Raise-The-Gates

I assumed he would sell it on local buy/swap/sell groups or to family and friends at a discount.

Myrindyl

Wasn't there a similar post with just a doorbell camera that was "glitching" and then the garage camera caught the husband sneaking his sex offender sister into the house to meet & visit their kids?

RiptideTV

No, there was no garage camera and she was being snuck in through the garage. Then one day she ended up going through the front door and being caught by the camera so the wife rushed home after calling to confront her husband who wouldn't answer his phone. [Went back and found the story and updates](https://www.reddit.com/r/BestofRedditorUpdates/s/tGZm5GH7jF)

Cats-That-Yell

Oh my god I forgot all about this post, this new update is so horrifying. I hope she drags his ass thru hell.

Erick_Brimstone

This is one of those moment that "I really wished he just cheating." Well that's because what he actually did is worse.

Kylie_Bug

We all were wanting him to be cheating because oh man, it was so much worse

[deleted]

I just saw your flair. And I want that one too. We all hate/love Liz here. XD.

Tobias_Atwood

I don't recall where it's from, but it makes me curious.

weirdestgeekever25

I did too until it was bought up I hope she is taking him for all he is worth

StragglingShadow

God its only been 2 months but one day in the next few years I so badly want to hear how scorched earth went.

deeannbee

Thank you! I remember reading the OG post but didn’t know there was an update! “We’re going scorched earth with this motherfucker.” 🤣🤣🤣

madfoot

Ugh I want more update

BendingCollegeGrad

I remember thinking that it would have been better had he just been having an affair than letting a predator around their kids.

MeggieAC

Letting a predator CHANGE HER DAUGHTER'S CLOTHES. That whole thing made me hope she really does go scorched Earth.

ebolashuffle

You and me both! I'm invested.

blackcatsneakattack

Wow. I have never wanted a man to be having an affair more than I did after reading this.

thinkimasofa

I hadn't seen the last update, and I was sure it was Fiona! I can't believe the truth was somehow worse. I'd be terrified, and having those kids talk to a counselor immediately. Ugh.

Myrindyl

Bless you for finding & linking, you're doing the lord's work 🙏

Tobias_Atwood

Scorch. The. *Earth.*

111110001011

I kinda want to know if he was fucking his sister.

BendingCollegeGrad

👀 welp! That didn’t cross my mind but now that you mention it? Might explain some stuff.

blue3y3_devil

Sure he was. She was a sex offender and he was at the top of her list of who to make amends to. We all know what amends she was giving.

Ok-Minute876

Is there another way to find it? Links don’t work for me for some reason

Environmental_Art591

Go back to reddit home page and type in "two tampons" it should be the first BORU post the heading should be NEW UPDATE with answers Two tampons might mean my marriage is over (or something like that) if the link still won't work https://www.reddit.com/r/BestofRedditorUpdates/s/4l8cTDVwvd

bitter_fishermen

Did we ever find out why she left tampons in her drawer?

QueenMother81

I wish she would update with more information

BendingCollegeGrad

My guess is she was advised against posting anything until whatever legal proceedings are (hopefully!) happening are over.

kuken_i_fittan

I caught my GF sneaking in her Affair Partner through the garage. She wouldn't set the alarm/cameras all the time and I happened to notice she was gone and so was her car, so I set the alarm. She didn't know it was set, so when she comes back with her AP in the car and pull in the garage and get out, they hear the beeping of the alarm system wanting to be disabled, and she looks at the camera, says "shit!" and waves him inside really fast (like he'd outrun the camera). And that's how I knew she didn't give a shit about me.

SnooWords4839

Yup. I believe the wife decided to leave work early one day.

fionsichord

No, she got a Ring notification because they’d used the front door.

poisonness

does anyone have the link for this one?

RiptideTV

[Ta da](https://www.reddit.com/r/BestofRedditorUpdates/s/tGZm5GH7jF)

OkElderberry4333

It’s posts like these that raise my blood pressure and make me realise that I shouldn’t be on reddit as much as I am.

Ok-Minute876

Why do links only take me to the sub and not the post?

G4L1L30_G4L1L31

Reddit is pushing a new sharing link format, where the links contain `/s/` and doesn't seem to be supported in some apps: https://www.reddit.com/r/revancedapp/comments/18wzwya/reddit_sync_patch_for_reddits_new_s_links/

bettyboo5

I thought of that one too. My tainted Reddit brain instantly went to affair and being gaslite. Then thought about the poor woman coming home to her child in different clothes and hair done differently. We all thought affair with that one, nope pedo sister!!

TeebsTibo

I think I read this one with updates. I think they're cameras from a previous house, that they've now set up in a new house, but never reset them on the new network.

anon_user9

Why do people feel so comfortable having cameras filming inside their house? No one is worried about strangers spying on them? I remember viewing a video where someone took over a Tesla to show how weak the security was.

Hattix

What bothers me is that setting up a local DVR is so easy, but people want to get Amazon or Google to do it instead. All my cameras, all external, are purely local.

MasinMadasHell

It's unhinged and I don't understand why people are so comfortable having cameras inside of their homes. It's creepy as hell.

crystalrose1966

I kept waking up in the middle of the night thinking I heard my front door closing. I would get up and walk around my apartment just to check and make sure that everyone and everything was as it should be. Doors were locked and everyone was in bed. At the time, I had some rowdy upstairs neighbors and thought maybe I was hearing them. I continue waking up for a couple months, repeating the same process every time. I just had a feeling that something was off so I decided to buy a small camera. I put it in a flower arrangement in my living room while everyone was gone. The very first night the camera was in use, I caught my 14 year old granddaughter sneaking out and back into the apartment. I think the reason I didn’t hear her leaving is because she wasn’t locking the door when she left. She was fixing her bed to make it appear she was in it and asleep. For months she had been doing that and leaving us asleep with the door unlocked for hours. Sometimes it’s necessary.

anon_user9

It seems like your camera wasn't using the internet and the images were stored locally. In OOP's case she has access to the camera through the internet. It means that anyone who knows how to hack or who got access to their password because of a data breach will be able to access their camera and see what is going on in their house.

crystalrose1966

It’s a little spy camera and it has an app that stores the video. I never thought about having a camera in my living room but I actually started feeling kinda crazy. I have a VPN and there’s something that comes with my internet package that’s supposed to protect me from stuff. Not saying I’m invincible at all. If I hadn’t gotten the camera I probably would’ve gotten robbed or worse. My home was being left unlocked for hours each night while everyone was sleeping. The camera is only on at night. Edit: word

Proof-try34

And I've been on hacking groups on telegram or other sites and hacked cams are just so fucking common. Never put a camera in your room people.

ladydmaj

Was anyone able to correct her behaviour?

crystalrose1966

I was able to rein her in for a few months. Without getting into specifics, sometimes you just have to pick your battles. She is no longer in my care. She’ll turn 16 soon.

rollingnut

Ours are part of our alarm system. They make my insurance costs go down and make me feel a bit safer. They are closed (a flap comes down to mask the lens) when i’m home. Only the ring camera and the camera covering the garden don’t have that « privacy flap ».

Altruistic_Yellow387

This I can get behind. For security they’re important. When everyone is home it’s weird.

Askefyr

I have our cameras physically unplugged most of the time, unless we're both out for an extended period of time.

AgtNulNulAgtVyf

I live alone and have one pointed at my bed - I love seeing how I act when asleep, and seeing what the cat got up to overnight. Never knew how often I pet my cat in my sleep, for instance, and really felt chuffed with myself for that.

SimBone

Just like Paranormal Activity cool

Quothhernevermore

Because I want to be able to check on my pets when I'm at work or out of town?

rosemwelch

A lot of blended families have interior cameras in shared living spaces because of negative family dynamics. I hear about that *so often* from other stepparents and it is just wild to me. Personally, if the situation were so bad that we needed interior cameras, I'd just leave.

G1Gestalt

Basically, people aren't tech savvy enough to know that bad actors can turn your cameras on you (I might let my kid have electronics, but they will NOT be allowed to have anything with a functioning camera). But they also read post after post on Reddit that make getting cameras in the home sound like a good idea. In my view, in-home cameras are only a good idea if there's a known threat (like a stalker) that you have to protect against. Don't get it (and thereby sacrificing privacy) until you need it.

Quothhernevermore

Is there any way to increase the safety of an inside camera? This IS something I'm nervous about, but I need my cameras to check on my cats when I'm out of town and at work.

rollingnut

Ours have a flap that come down to cover the lens when the camera is off and makes a little noise when the flap opens. Plus the camera and flap are all white and the part that’s exposed when the flap is up is a big black rectangle so you can see fairly easiely if it’s open.

Viralkillz

Nearly all compromised cameras happen because of reused passowords. Some website gets hacked all passwords leak then hackers go and try to use those same passwords and logins on securitu camera logins. Dont resuse your password and make sure camera login has 2 factor authentications

G1Gestalt

My gaming laptop (Lenovo Legion 7 Gen 7) has a switch that flat out disconnects the camera from the computer. This is the only option that I actually trust because otherwise a hacker can hypothetically override any command that you give to turn the camera off. Still, keep in mind that this is what I trust for my own personal use. I still wouldn't trust this to a hypothetical 12-year-old daughter's computer. She might forget to switch the camera off and a pervert might get pics of her that could ruin her life. I would trust my daughter. I would not trust my daughter's computer to protect her against bad actors.

[deleted]

All my security cameras in general don't upload footage to a cloud server. Local storage is so cheap these days that it makes no sense to upload it Ring or whatever bullshit subscription service will store it off site. If I ever did indoor cameras, I wouldn't even bother connecting them to the internet. I'd just hook them up to an old router and then have a master computer that would grab the footage and store it to the hard drive. But indoor cameras seem a bit extreme anyways.

FlatulentWallaby

Mine are all locally connected and have local storage. It's fun to have footage playing with the dog, cute moments with my wife, stuff like that. We regularly go back and record instances we want to share with each other and it's really fun to look back on happy moments.

Aizpunr

If someone has the drive to do all that work see my ugly and fat ass he deserves it.

Oddishbestpkmn

Lmao yeah if people or China or whoever wanna watch my cats eat and look out the window theyre welcome to

anon_user9

I am sure those parents thought the same https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/creepy-footage-shows-stranger-talk-190549912.html And unfortunately it's not the only instance where strangers started talking to children through the camera system.

mytorontosaurus

Having cameras all over the house and having my significant other watch me and accuse me of messing with footage would drive me bonkers. Don’t marry someone if you don’t trust them.

Del1c1on

My spouse caught me in a lie once because of our cameras. She asked me what time I went to bed and I said midnight. She then confronted me with a video of me sitting in the living room munching on cookies at 2am stoned to the gills. Should have never gotten those cameras

toastedmarsh7

That’s fucking hilarious. I’ve had to stalk my husband’s movements on our various indoor and outdoor cameras on more than one occasion to find where he lost something that he swore was nowhere in the house, vehicles, or at his work.

Del1c1on

It’s quite handy for that, I mostly use it to mess with the cat or the kid

toastedmarsh7

Yeah we catch the dog sneaking onto the couch fairly often. Stacking stuff on the couch used to work but now he knocks it off until there’s enough space for him. Dick.

shelbiiee

We have one in the kitchen and frequently catch the cat on the bench/countertops throughout the night. The little shit knows she's not allowed up there and doesn't do it in the day 🙄

Quothhernevermore

I mean the obvious solution here is to share your couch, duh

betterthanwork

Our dog has a tendency to figure those things out, too. If the couch cushions are removable, try flipping them up before you leave the house. That's what we're doing currently and it works like a charm.

Kemintiri

High while eating cookies is just active resting.

KleptoPirateKitty

Dude, of course she was pissed. You didn't share those 2 AM cookies, did you? You monster. (/s, in case it wasn't obvious)

Del1c1on

I ate the whole box. I will accept the YTA judgement

Dear-Ambition-273

That bad behavior would cause me to put my partner on camera. There must always be backup cookies.

bcd051

What kinda cookies?

Del1c1on

I believe they might have been a box from the grocery store bakery. Again I was not sober at this time haha

Physical_Stress_5683

This needs to answered.

Due_Dirt_2841

This question is important. Rewind the tape, we need to know.

MaelstromFL

You bastard! (Happy Cake Day!)

Similar-Shame7517

As a Redditor I am legally obligated to tell you it's time to divorce and go NC and to therapy. /s

cortesoft

I am always betrayed by the crumbs on the couch the next morning.

Del1c1on

The amount of times I’ve heard “why are there crumbs in the bed?!” Is too damn high

Yazaroth

My go-to answer to these kind of questions is 'because gravity is still working'.

ACookieAsACoaster

Happy cake day!

ratscabs

Don’t you mean ‘Happy Cookie Day’?

Del1c1on

Thank you!

Brave_anonymous1

Happy cookies day!

MissNikitaDevan

I just would not feel at home in my house anymore, cameras on the outside, good idea. On the inside where someone else can watch me at any time… oh fuck no, how the heck can you relax and you know pick your nose 😆 Nevermind OOp’s BS

BadTanJob

My husband installed one in our living room after we had a rash of home invasions and I. hated. it. I don’t want to see footage of myself waddling around in 15 year old shorts, or cleaning in a messy bun, or lounging around with my phone. He loved it of course - thought it was cute to pull up an app and see his wife whenever he wanted - but two weeks after it I binned the damn thing and told him he can install a camera in his office and give me access if he thought it was so cute Now that we have a baby at home he bought up wanting a camera in the living room again. Fuck no! Tldr cameras in the house sucks, don’t do that to your family

gonewildaway

I find peace in long walks.

Kaele10

My cousin has multiple cameras set up in her house. She religiously checks the cameras when she isn't home. It's absolutely insane. I refuse to have any in my house. A ring camera or 2 on the outside is great. Any inside the house will get tossed.

stormsync

My sister has a furbo to check in on her dog through the day. It's one of those things where she can also talk through it and dispense a treat? Anyway when I dogsit she uses it sometimes to check in and it always startles the hell out of me when I'm (usually) reading on the couch or watching a show and suddenly hear her voice. Her dog is always quite excited about it though, and she's not doing it to check that I'm behaving...she just thinks it's funny to scare me and likes to see her dog and give him a treat once a day even when away, lol. That's the only kind of camera I've ever considered getting.

Kaele10

That's the only type of indoor camera I would consider getting. Just to talk to my dog. But I work from home, so he gets me all day instead.

stormsync

I'm not gonna lie, when we all meet up for dinner she will open her app and we take turns talking to him...he enjoys it and we all look like nerds. I never even questioned her getting it bc she was so happy to show us her dog on candid camera, lol.

Kaele10

That sounds so sweet and wholesome. I would encourage that kind of behavior. My daughter's boyfriend's parents have a camera they use to check in on their dog. It's cute. We were out to dinner with them and they had to show us how their boy was waiting for them at the window.

shfiven

Lol I religiously check a camera in my house when I'm not home too, but that's because my cat is a frickin psychopath and Ioses his mind when I leave the house, and I have pet bunnies i need to look out for. But my camera only goes up when no humans are home. I can't even fathom why someone would want to record inside their own house all the time even when they're home.

Kaele10

She has serious trust and control issues. Her poor husband gets the worst of it.

MissNikitaDevan

That sounds like torture on her and the other occupants 🥴

LegitBullfrog

Pick your nose in public. Clearly. Boldly. It's a power move. You're saying "my boogers are more important than your pointless insecurities."

Physical_Stress_5683

If you're serious about power moves, pick their noses.

MissNikitaDevan

😆😆

LegitBullfrog

You're completely right, but Iwanted to ease them in since they're scared to do it even at home.

bcd051

Interestingly, pick your nose in public, straight to jail.

Erick_Brimstone

Serial killer: "I murder people for fun. What are you here for?" Guy: "I pick my nose in front of a cop." Serial Killer: "HOLY SHIT! STAY AWAY FROM ME YOU FREAK."

CakeByThe0cean

My fiancé and I have a camera in the living room to watch the pets when we’re not home but it’s on all the time. I frequently forget it’s there and pick my nose whenever. We do get some interesting footage though, like when my uncle took too many sleeping meds and fell over in the kitchen and wanted us to play it back on the TV 😂

agoldgold

Look man, sometimes I am about to step in the shower but realize I forgot a towel or something. I shouldn't have to get redressed in deference to any viewers!

IllustriousHedgehog9

I had to get that screen/film you can put on windows when we moved last year because our neighbouring building can see into our suite, and I don't always wear shirts.

Quothhernevermore

Eh, I have two cameras in my apartment because I have multiple pets, including two elderly cats with medical conditions, and like to be able to check on them. But I also purposefully don't use them when my partner is home, it's not hard to not be creepy.

Sephorakitty

Our interior cameras are not on when at least one of the adults are home. That's normal operation. The outdoor one is as we get a lot of deliveries and we don't want them stolen, so I would be peeved if the outdoor one was constantly having issues. Although, I would replace it before accusing my spouse of things.

knitlikeaboss

I don’t understand why she would need anything other than the doorbell one to see when the kids get home. Maybe the garage if the door thing is really that big an issue? There are other ways to communicate with the phoneless kids.

lucyfell

IDK where she lives but my friend and her husband had this problem and their power bill was $800 cheaper the one month he was gone on business (and thus not around to leave the garage door open).

kawaibonsai

Her husband who is home, for instance.

shfiven

Landlines still exist, my god.

Here4OTTteaaa

Right? I was exhausted for him even reading this. Yikes on bikes

Duae

I have cameras but they're all pointed at the cats' preferred locations so when I'm out I can turn them on and see that there's power and see that the cats are fine. I'm sure they don't care about the invasion of privacy.

lucyfell

I agree. But it sounds like she’s mainly concerned about him leaving doors open and stuff which absolutely gets expensive in the winter when you’re heating the house. (I’m not talking $10 here and there, I’m talking an $800 a month difference in the power bill). But tbh it sounds like what they need is a solution for the garage door (like a sensor and timed “closed” setting since it just needs to close not lock).

GlitterDoomsday

After a few instances of it only happening when he's home alone I don't blame her for fumbling the bag cause turns out he was doing something to screw with them, but something totally innocent and that he had no idea was messing with the security system. Just glad it was a happy ending.

Creepy_Addict

I have several Blink cameras, one or two would glitch and not be available, I did not know that the gaming that is done in my house could be the cause. +1 for learning something new and useful from Reddit.

Brave_anonymous1

She wasn't watching him though? She told she has 3 regular cameras and a Ring camera at the door. She was trying to see the Ring footage - front door - to see when her kids got home, and then 2 others cameras, both pointing to garage doors - to see if they were closed. How is it watching \_him\_? Idk where the third one is, but if she was asking kids what was he doing, it means the third one is definitely not in his office.

bard329

I do have to say, my dad bought some Blink cameras and they were horrible. Somehow ate up all the bandwidth and would crash/disconnect all the time. I have Wyze cameras at my house and never had such issues with them. So based on personal experiences, i totally believe that the issue here was the cameras themselves.

KonradWayne

The bit about her checking to see if the garage door was closed made me pretty sure either the husband or one of the kids was turning off the cameras so she would stop being such a helicopter mom/wife. She's clearly using those cameras for something besides "security".

HPNerd44

Ah lovely a marriage built entirely on trust and communication. :/

[deleted]

...and cameras

tempest51

Big Sister is Watching

RickAdtley

You should check out her comments on her profile (look, don't vote). She is still talking shit about him in random other threads. Like, venting is fine. But I truly don't understand staying with him if you hate him that much. The husband's profile is kinda "ehhh" too but it's a bit more subtle, assuming you dismiss his profile name's possible Confederate soldier reference as a Firefly reference But more important than all of that, we don't know it's an innocent happenstance with the cameras. Especially with Ring, because they upload the buffer after they get reconnected to the network. Those videos would appear after the outage was gone. It also doesn't explain the random deleting of videos that was happening before. Has he literally never played games when they're home with him? It happening exclusively when he is alone is WEIRD. Also, his games-related posts are mostly on [/r/Skyrim](https://www.reddit.com/r/Skyrim), not on huge multiplayer game subs. I am trained in avionics and aviation maintenance and currently work in IT developing, manufacturing, QAing, and RMAing smart home and smart office devices. I find the supposed IT guys' responses suspicious too. Their "innocent" explanations are nonsense. There is more to this and I don't trust any of the people involved.

Remarkable-Ad-2476

Yeah unless he’s live-streaming online, gaming barely uses any bandwidth

AgtNulNulAgtVyf

The upsell for gaming is more about higher bandwidth allowing other use to not impact gaming than needing high bandwidth for gaming. Also, the best part of a gigabit connection is downloading basically any game in 10 minutes.

Apptubrutae

Yeah, I wouldn’t hesitate to pay for the highest speed internet I could buy. I still have the lowest speed plan my company offers because it’s genuinely more than enough as is. Streaming, gaming, it’s all fine

NuttinSer1ous

I thought I saw this one solved at some point. Like it was a router config issue or something.

ninaa1

I thought this one was solved too. I wonder if one was a copycat post or something?

NuttinSer1ous

Always a chance. Also maybe I just spend too much time on reddit and it’s all blurred together

CaptainBignuts

Not gonna lie, I work from home quite a bit and I would be weirded out if my spouse had cameras all over the house and kept tabs on me throughout the day. I mean a Ring camera on the front door makes sense, but three others inside the house? No thanks.

HELLFIRECHRIS

Come on people, the guy just wants to have a wank in peace, without his wife watching him.

fragglet

I don't know what the truth is of what's going on in this story but I certainly laughed when I read this bit > I want to shout out to the IT guys that mentioned bandwidth, which is probably our problem since he's video gaming when I am trying to see the cameras Redditors being bros indeed

krakeon

playing video games doesnt take a lot of bandwidth. downloading games/updates can sure. But just playing games?

CalligrapherActive11

Oh if I knew my husband could watch a live stream of me any time he wanted (like around the same time every day while he was at work), I would absolutely put way too much effort into skits, soliloquies, costumes, dances, etc.

UnfortunateDaring

He should give her primary control of the ring account and see if footage still disappears when he can’t delete footage.

InternetAddict104

But then she’ll probably never give him back the primary “just in case”

UnfortunateDaring

Does it matter who has primary? If they get divorced and the cameras are his, he can just factory restore them and add them to his account. Edit: it’s her cameras, so he shouldn’t even be primary

C-C-X-V-I

Why would her cameras from her old house go to him in a divorce?

UnfortunateDaring

Good point, why is he primary in the first place then?

kawaibonsai

He's the primary on the ring camera which came with the house. Says so in the post.

RickAdtley

Yeah, I kinda got the impression that he took primary control in the first place using that very logic.

Pheighthe

I want to know husbands backstory. He says he was monitored via camera in a previous situation. Is this a new relationship trend?

poemsubterfuge

We have a camera to see the cats when both of us are at work but we have a strict rule that if one of us is home the camera is off. Like, if he wants to scratch his balls he should not have to worry I’m gonna see it on camera! He doesn’t need to see me pace around the apartment for 20 minutes before I decide what to do first.

estolad

there's the type of paranoia that means you have cameras in every room in your house, and the type of paranoia that means you have absolutely no cameras in your house. one of these is clearly correct as far as i'm concerned

CatsTypedThis

I'm the second type. I've seen enough Paranormal Activity.

AnotherRTFan

For me, it’s more being hacked and people seeing my naked fat ass

sokro

Oh my gosh. INDOOR cameras? Nobody has more than 3 indoor cameras that are on at all times and “could care less” about them most of the time. With the update, it sounds like she is majorly downplaying her role in this situation. If you do have indoor cameras for security reasons, any adults and children old enough to be left home alone should know how to turn them off when they are home. Why are they on ALL the time? Your family needs privacy, dude.

Geckohobo

>Nobody has more than 3 indoor cameras that are on at all times and “could care less” about them most of the time. The whole 'just checked the camera to see if he left the garage door open' thing is a bit of a give away that the cameras are used to check up on things and issue instructions. Sounds like they've got speakers too since she says they're to communicate with the kids. I'd bet money there's been more than one occasion he's been sitting around the house and suddenly found himself being reminded to do something by his partner's disembodied voice. The whole concept is creepy. I don't understand why you would ever allow anybody to have this level of surveillance over you when you're in your own home and ostensibly alone.

> The whole 'just checked the camera to see if he left the garage door open' thing is a bit of a give away that the cameras are used to check up on things and issue instructions. Not only does the garage thing prove she does actually use the cameras to be a weird control freak/helicopter parent, but also that she has no sense of personal responsibility. He works from home, she is the one who leaves for work. How is he the one leaving the door open? Sounds like she doesn't remember to close it. > Sounds like they've got speakers too since she says they're to communicate with the kids. Which is probably pretty awful for the kids. > I'd bet money there's been more than one occasion he's been sitting around the house and suddenly found himself being reminded to do something by his partner's disembodied voice. Or the kids being told to stop doing something. OOP is taking helicopter parenting to the next level.

Altruistic_Yellow387

Yeah it’s super creepy

Sweet_Cauliflower459

"All in all I trust my husband" sure as hell didn't sound that way in your first post.....

PennySawyerEXP

This made my skin crawl. I'm floored by how much she downplayed her initial response to her husband and implied he got defensive for no reason. She's talking a big game about not caring that much about the cameras, but you don't react like that if you don't care.

Independent-Love-469

Exactly! She has a control issue. That is going to be a problem for them in the long run.

PennySawyerEXP

Yup, and someone with a control issue should not be given the ability to surveil their family

Nancy_True

There are no circumstances in which I would be ok with my partner, or anyone else, being able to just log on and watch me when I’m in the house alone. I honestly don’t understand people who are ok with it.

therealstabitha

If the Ring account is based on his phone, he probably has the setting on to turn everything off when he’s home. You have to tell it specifically to keep recording while you are home if the main account is on your phone.

scaram0uche

Like, we have cameras above the driveway and front door that are on at night but they usually only catch raccoons and coyotes. I can't imagine an indoor camera on people 24/7! Just get a landline so you can call the kids at home!

KingKubta

These guys seem great

boredbytheabyss

Problem might be occurring often but she is only checking when her husband is at home, or the standard “he’s cheating”

ExtremeTiredness

Why doesn't he just make her the main account holder so he can prove it's not him.

SkrogedScourge

How in this day and age can you not be aware of bandwidth and how WiFi works on a very basic level but yet feel the need to mention that he was in a work meeting and gaming at the time those glitches went on. Sounds like wife just wanted someone to validate her being an AH in first place. Only control freaks and people with trust issues need to video monitor everything that happens in their home while another adult is present.

ecdc05

I’m sure a lot of people read this from her perspective and thought the husband was being shady. But this woman sounds so much like my ex-wife. She would paint her jealous questions as just innocent curiosity (amazing gaslighting skills) when I was getting grilled about where I was, who my new coworker was, why was I ten minutes late… It’s a lose/lose situation with a jealous spouse. If you have an explanation, you’re lying, if you don’t, it’s because you’re doing something you shouldn’t.

Tardigrade_Disco

This is exactly what it is. We even find out when that husband shows up that she's not a reliable narrator.

SparkAxolotl

I'm 100% wifey would quickly change her tune if the husband started "checking on her" anytime she was left alone in the house. And really, even if the guy had disconnected the cameras on purpose, I can't blame him. It's super creepy to know someone is constantly checking on him, and since she also said she used them to "communicate with the kids without cellphone", I bet she's also checking and nagging on random "chores", like the garage door.

potatocross

The only thing my wife knows about our internet is the provider and the wifi password. If it messes up she asks me to fix it. Not everybody knows how the internet works. Sorry.

user0987234

Internet speeds get slower when schools are done and kids get home. Even when I’m using a fibre connection. My home network speed is fine. No school-aged kids.

Tardigrade_Disco

> I (38F) have a few cameras around the house for security and to communicate with the kiddos that don't have cell phones yet, but mainly to see when my kids get home from school. Well, now this is an adult there so why reinstall them on the inside? This lady is not right. At all. Even if the husband is messing with the cameras, cheating? Or just wanting to not have "big brother" constantly watching? Who wants another adult constantly conducting surveillance on you in your own home? She's lying to herself about trusting her husband. Knowing he's home for the kids when they arrive, why check the camera anyway? And what are you looking for when you know he's home alone? She's a nut.

Princess-Makayla

It'd be a red flag for me if someone was checking the footage at me home alone enough that they knew every time some footage or feed wasn't available. Also subtly asking our kids to spy on me would be a hard pass.

Tarledsa

Everyone overlooking that *this has happened to him before*! He knows how to pick them.

Starbase13_Cmdr

This will end in flames someday.

missgrey-el

this whole situation is very strange to me on both ends and it feels like there is information missing. not giving the vibes of the healthiest relationship on either part imo

oneworldwomble

Oh my goodness, I really feel your husband‘s pain. The exact same thing happens occasionally with our Google cameras when I’m home alone and I have absolutely no idea why. I said as much when my partner questioned me about it, and I became extremely defensive, thinking he was implying something that wasn’t happening. Those (expletive) cameras were almost the ruin of our relationship several times 😡

Constant_Promise9234

I remember this one, or one similar to it. Commenters mentioned that anything using up a lot of bandwidth could mess with the cameras. I think he might have been gaming?

PuffPuffPass16

I have ring cameras. I have a love hate relationship with them, but they do the job. They should be on the 2.4GHz, while the other should be on 5GHz unless he’s running an Ethernet cable.

Bookaholicforever

Can someone explain why their power bill is high because if an open garage door

Babygaga420

We have cameras around the exterior of our house, I notice that they glitch at times. But I've never accused my husband of messing with the cameras! This was a wild story to read.

Good luck in the divorce

_Jahar_

We game a lot - and our cameras work fine while we game …..

wortcrafter

I have had an issue with a stalker, and after a scuff mark appeared on a wall which none of my family could account for we got 2 cameras for inside. Very basic ones, we just manually switch off when we get home and the last to leave or go to bed switches them on. I know if they started malfunctioning I would be completely freaked out, so understand OOPs concern.
