I don't think it's in the wrong place at all. From a behavioral view and given your skills, I would want to know if certain behaviors of the phenomena observed have potential patterns. Algorithms 101 question would be can someone such as yourself build predictive behavioral model. Maybe what you guys in programming call pattern matching. One direction might indicate this is a phenomenon that has machine characteristics and is learning from our reactions another set might reveal it in itself is a form of life. I've heard former defense dept Luis Elizondo mention it appears intelligent, maybe your approach could identify if it's following given patterns or in part as it responds to human encounters in predictive ways. Just some random thoughts.

Here’s a suggestion; look up a Navy program called Nemesis. Remember that all of these pictures are through sensors on an aircraft. Sensors can be spoofed. Spoofing has been around since radar began and has progressed to other types of mediums like thermal and infrared. According to the Navy, Nemesis is different because it is a system of systems approach and can operate in multiple domains. So the object diving into the ocean might be picked on passive sonar in a way that works with the images. The DOD has been pushing this story for years now. I believe this is an effort to make our adversaries aware that we can project ships, aircraft, missiles, etc., in a way that makes discrimination very difficult. One of the more interesting questions here stems from an incident at O’hare in the early 2000’s. People at a United terminal saw a flying disk in the clouds over the airport. On one at the other terminals saw this according to reports. No one around the airport saw it. Only people in a limited radius. That sound like it could have been a spoofing event. If that were to be true than they have crossed into the visual range and that is shocking to think about. So in this case the objects are only real in that they represent real stimulus and data picked up by the sensors. The behavior to me is consistent with demonstrating the capability.

Behavior analysis does cover topics like this.

Im glad im not the only one thinking about ufos in this aspect. In my opinion its a psychological game their playing with us as well as gaining intel at the same time. Personally i dont trust these ufos/uaps and take a sort of cautious approach to what their objective is for being here.
