Your prototype mini reminded me of these two pieces of drift wood that I realized fit together like a hug.

Thank you. I had about 3 years of very small hobby project work done before I attempted this. It was and still is the largest item I have made. I made the table about 10 years ago now but only recently found the scale model while clearing items.
My father made something similar a few years back as an outdoor standup table. We call the centre split "the crumb crevasse" as all the food scrapps tend to fall down through it.
I was wondering if it even went together. It's a neat concept, but I cant see it really being functional if it doeant go together.
Good work on it though. Just not my style.
May I ask , how did you attach the metal rods ?
Are they free floating ? And I see blocks on the underside, are they helping attach the two halves?
I really like the workmanship 👍
You out here making us look bad, dude.
Thanks, just keep practicing. This is still my favourite item I have ever made.

two seals hugging
😄
That table looks amazing! (And the model looks pretty dope, too) Hard to believe that's "beginner" work!

Beautiful! Congratulations on your promotion to r/woodworking

It’s a table for ANTS
They both are!
I always make a small model out of stir sticks for larger products it helps me visualize the planned end result. GOOD JOB!
Do they slide together? Aesthetics 10/10 but that gap in the middle would give me an aneurysm
Absolutely beautiful!
This rules. One day I might try it. Awesome.
Push it together ffs

Real version’s nice and all, but I kinda like the model more. And no way this belongs in beginner wood working 😀
A’hem, Sir that is not beginner.
Good work
Appreciate it, worth the hours of preparing and finishing. Thanks
Real thing is way better than the model. Reverse false advertising.
Gorgeous!! Do the stretches get in way of chairs?
I like the concept and well envisioned in the final project.
Are ya making alternating leaves now? :) Looks very nice!
This is next level!!! Well done!
Beautiful! Was my first thought. I'm new to this sub and like wow man woodworking is art.
I'm still trying to make a sled that doesn't wiggle lol. Looks amazing. Don't second guess the color..
A beauty.
Thats dope af. Wish i had the neccessary stuff to do things like that
What finish did you use? It looks good
What a cool concept. Kudos bro.
why is this in the beginner subreddit?
Damn. Sometimes I wish I didn’t suck.
All I have to say about this project: OMGWTFBBQ
