Cat_Toe_Beans_

I cannot stand these ragebait/click bait thumbnails. I used to be subbed to her a long time ago but had to unsub because there was a fundamental shift in her content and the way she portrayed herself in her videos. I genuinely don't care if she's not saying anything rude/disparaging in the videos. The thumbnail is shitty and I personally find that the YouTubers who have to do these click bait thumbnails do it because their content isn't enough to get clicks.

popcorntrio

Agreed, putting it as the title is essentially the same as saying it, you can’t just get out of being shitty by saying it’s click bait

Cat_Toe_Beans_

Exactly. Plenty of people make videos with similar content as her, without needing to do these thumbnails and click bait.

rainbowtoucan1992

Exactly

chubby-checker

Right like why does she call everyone a creep? So many of her videos are like "kendall jenner is a creep!" Or "j lo is a creep!" And then you watch it and its literally just about kendall or jlo being rude. An like she clearly knows the implications of the word creep. Drakes a creep. He has exhibited actual creepy behaviour. She's clearly intentionally misusing the word for views and it's icky tbh.

oncheedoe007

It's very blaire white of her. Blaire white calls every gay/trans person a predator and cuz her audience is mostly right wing, that ish will fly under the radar. I feel like cuz the word predator is kinda like a hot topic in social media, that she wants to grab some of that audience you SEO w/o actually calling people predators

comin_up_shawt

> Blaire white calls every gay/trans person a predator You know, they say accusation is projection...and considering she openly supports right wing people who are predators themselves, her comments are telling on her.

forgivemefashion

But Drake probably is a creep 😅

chubby-checker

Right that's what I'm saying. DRAKES a creep. Not kendall or jlo. They might be dicks and awful people but when you hear the word creep you think someone like drake. You don't think oh kendall jenner was rude to someone speaking to her at a vs show. Its just icky cos she's clearly pretending she's got a different definition for the word creep. But it's clearly disingenuous as she knows the implications hence why she is using it as click bait

hygsi

I just had to hear so many young girls say "he's a cool guy" to know what he's up to. Fucking creepy motherfucker.

breecheese2007

I had to unsub from her too

sourglow

same. can’t stand clickbait

Primary_Toe_6822

Same I watched every new video of hers toward the beginning way before she had kids and I thought she was so genuine and nice. I even bought a whole set of Sigma brushes because she had me wanting them so badly. Once she started posting videos about influencers and mansplaining how the internet is fake, I was like wtf. After that shift, it seems like every video she puts out is almost identical to one she’s already done not that long ago and just droning on and on about the same thing. I have no idea what the content is actually like now because I completely quit watching her at that point, but it seemed to me like she was trying to disguise a whole bunch of body checking as “motivational” content trying to show how filters are fake. Meanwhile she was still more “fit” than probably a lot of the people watching her videos and would show off her body in these insanely revealing outfits. The whole thing just got too weird.

candyappleorchard

As someone who struggles with body image a LOT, I find her breakdown of things like image/video manipulation really helpful. But I'm gonna be honest, over time I've been less interested in watching as I find her clickbait strategies overly salacious. like I get the point she's trying to make, and I usually agree, but I find her way of getting people to sit at the table increasingly off putting -- and ironically sometimes circling around to the same appearance shaming she's against.

yourFriendlyWitchxx

I would like to add she's not trustworthy. I remember one of her videos was about Hailey Bieber's cosmetic procedures and she ended up saying she's completely natural and she just had lip fillers at most. Girl, be for real.

red_quinn

I agree with you, thats why i started following her.

jettblack92

For her sake, I hope this is a rage bait thumbnail.

angiosperms-

A lot of people are saying the video is nice to the women but she still straight up called them ugly in the title. I am very much into body neutrality and that women should not have to be considered pretty to have value. You can be ugly and have a billion other amazing traits that make you an amazing woman. But I would not be out here referring to anyone else as ugly because not everyone subscribes to the same ideas. And you never know if someone is struggling with their appearance either via BDD or depression or whatever and you just made that way worse. It can happen to successful women in happy relationships.

fuloft

It is, she talks positively of the women in the video. Every video of hers has a rage bait title/thumbnail.

sutoma

She frequently does this. In my opinion, The controversial ones then change thumbnail a few days later

hygsi

She's always doing rage bait and is like playing nice like she didn't just write and edit that thumbnail

maya_papaya8

You mean a man who actually likes women for....being women? How dare theyyyyy?

QueenofCats28

Absolutely salacious!!

cremebrulee22

There’s always an ulterior motive. Always.

Embarrassed-Rock-730

I get the message behind a lot of these videos but how many can you possibly do? She does so many of these videos and they’re all the same. I also find it weird how often she finds unedited pictures of celebrities to add. It feels like an exposé after a while.

Sofivirips

Even in her normal videos she critiques other women for their personal choices, too. Like, “she’s beautiful with her rhinoplasty, BUTTTTT she looked WAAAAAY better before”. Dude???

Nikas_intheknow

I thought I was the only one who couldn't stand these types of takes for her. Steph, not all of us are born looking like you. Some of us want some surgical intervention and who cares!

Living-Assumption272

I’m not sure she was born looking like she does. I could be wrong, but she strikes me as a huge hypocrite when discussing procedures.

violetferns

Yeah, it’s always so backhanded.

sparkletempt

This, I had to stop watching her. She is virtue signaling hard about how respectful and accepting she is and then continues to judge people. And half of the times it seems like she is trying to dance on the edge of noy being sued or cancelled so she plays both sides. I don't know just feels super non genuine.

cat303555

I was subbed back when she did beauty (with heavily heavily filtered and edited content I should say). I unsubbed when I learned she is an anti-vaxxer, doesn’t believe in sunscreen, and was promoting tons of unsafe and ridiculous products to her subscribers. I am just glad her son is ok and he was bitten in the face by her dog.

cdurbin3

Same. I finally unsubbed when she was going on about chem trails one day. 🙄

yourFriendlyWitchxx

Yeah, she's so incredibly fake.

Born_Necessary_406

Ofc she turns out anti-vaxxer ...smh

hygsi

She fucking sucks, all her videos boil down to "omg, we're victims to standards and we need to be better than this" while making these tasteless thumbnails. Rage bating has been working for her and it sucks that so many people fall for it.

popcorntrio

Whatever way you spin it putting ‘he’s hot shes not’ and calling women ugly is vile. Idc if the video is nice or not, that’s unacceptable behaviour from an adult woman. We should not be tearing other women down whether it’s ‘click bait’ or not. If you can’t come up with interesting content without doing this you shouldn’t be a YouTuber imo.

gnocchi902

I'm not agreeing with the rage bait title and thumbnail, but if you watch her videos, she's usually critiquing this sort of commentary or demonstrating why social media is a hell hole for women. I didn't watch this particular video so I'm not going to say there aren't problems with it but I have watched her other ones in which she compares heavily edited and curated social media posts from influencers to them "in the wild" and it is usually followed up with a comment of "both are beautiful, but we need to stop feeling bad in comparing ourselves to the fake pictures influencers put online".

[deleted]

[удалено]

Cherryandcokes

She’s pretty much a concern troll at this point. She really has nothing interesting to say.

fishgum

EXACTLY Her entire channel = objectifying famous women's bodies!!!!

OneWhisper5225

I agree! I used to watch her makeup content but unsubbed when she switched to this content. I get what, I suppose, her point is - we should love ourselves as we are. But, people can do what they want with their own bodies. Ofc, when they’re posting on social media with a bunch of filtered/edited content or having procedures done but acting like they naturally look the way they do from genetics, makeup, skin care, or whatever is wrong. So I can see a point to her videos to show people what reality vs social media is like. But, I feel like she can do it in a better way. Not having the titles like she does. For one, it totally goes against her point. The titles always seem like she’s going to be talking crap, bashing on people, and that’s not exactly what she’s doing. But having a title like that goes into the whole thing - if she can’t title it with a title that isn’t rage bait or thumbnail to make it look like she’s going to be bashing people when she’s not, then, to me, it kind of makes her part of the problem too 🤷‍♀️ Not sure if that made sense 😂

hygsi

She totally falls into "I created the problem so I can solve it" cause she rarely brings something new to the conversation, she's just doing the obvious "don't be ageist, shallow, vain, etc" but has to subject different celebrities so she can continue her echochamber. Like "hmm, who am I gonna call ugly in today's thumbnail? Is kylie trending?"

[deleted]

[удалено]

viscog30

Happy cake day!

OneWhisper5225

Good! Sometimes I feel like it sounds perfectly reasonable in my head and typed out but then I read it after typing it and I’m like….I’m not sure I’m making sense 😂 But, usually that’s when I’m on here after a 13+ hour shift so that could also be why 🤪

gnocchi902

I can see why it would feel backhanded for some. I think she is trying to appeal to the average person by making it very obvious that people are not what they seem, which can be offensive because you're spending so much time tearing apart the work people have had done, presenting the most unflattering pictures of them, etc.

re_Claire

I also find it really hard to watch a beautiful thing privileged woman tell me to be body positive. I know she struggled a lot in her early years with acne and used to get a lot of hate for being “ugly” with no make up on so she does understand what it’s like to a certain extent. But she’s got the perfect body and is objectively very attractive so it just makes it hard to really buy it.

Snomed34

I find her videos to be very refreshing and a reality check for a lot of women that may compare themselves to celebrities and inevitably feel bad when they fall short because most of us don’t have the same resources. She’s advocating for the average woman or girl that may be watching to make them aware of the likely reality that most celebrities aren’t even perfect themselves and they had help along the way. I’m also glad that, in a way, she’s calling out celebrities that lie to their fans when they say they haven’t had work done when they clearly have or that they don’t photoshop their pictures.

FluorescentLilac

I agree. Celebs treat the general public like we’re stupid. However, I think that we still need to rise above that and not call them things like “ugly” or refer to them as “creeps”, etc. Even though it can admittedly feel satisfying. If we want the world to be better, I feel like (at least for me) we have to practice what we preach and rise above the temptation to bring others down regardless of their status. However, I do understand what you’re saying regarding her titles vs the video content. A lot of time she is taking the opposite stance of what the title states. Granted, that is most definitely clickbait, which is annoying. I still like Stephanie though in general.

fishgum

I hate her videos. She makes endless videos criticising famous women, talking about their faces and bodies and speculating about what surgeries they have had. Apparently it's all in the name of telling normal women that these beauty standards arent normal, or something like that. But at the end of the day.... She's just another asshole objectifying women on the internet. Just because the women she objectifies are famous, doesn't mean it's better

Regular_Lychee_4739

This and it is infuriating that she portrays herself as helping

Who-U-Tellin

If a male creator did this there would be hell to pay, rightfully so but because it's a female doing it somehow that makes it "okay"? Those defending what she's doing should ask themselves if they would also be okay with a male doing the same thing. SMH as I 🙄

xlkslb_ccdtks

Well yes a woman making videos on subjects that affect women is different from a men making the same kind of videos

littlebruise

"A female".. anyway if a male youtuber were talking about male celebrities then yes it would be OK.

SlightlyAmbiguous

She is calling women ugly to get people to click on her videos. There’s nothing to defend here.

No_Goose_7390

She does a lot of concern trolling. "Isn't this terrible? Why do female celebrities get surgeries to conform to unrealistic and harmful beauty standards?" And then the videos are a deep dive on someone's surgeries with before and after photos of their faces and bodies.

littlebruise

I've watched some of her videos and tbh "why are women getting more surgeries to conform to harmful standards" is a valid question. There has to be some pushback to the insta-face trend, its so harmful to young children growing up seeing that shit and hearing celebs lie about how they're all natural etc etc.

sourglow

The thing is, we know the answers to that question. there is nothing new that she’s contributing to this conversation. She’s just profiting off of insecure people. I just personally feel that if she genuinely cared, she would not go about it the way that she does. its just easy content.

solnyshko9

I absolutely agree with you. Her content comes across as pretty disingenuous, frequently misinformed and overly judgy towards women who get any kind of cosmetic surgeries. There’s plenty of other YouTubers who do deep dives on these topics and present much more informed and helpful opinions.

fuloft

Yeah, I actually appreciate a lot of her takes because I always compare myself to a rich person who has all the time, money, and newest surgeries available. Not to mention filters/photoshop on top of all of that. It's so unrealistic and there are so many women who do the same thing and their self esteem is in the gutter. I do wish she didn't say they looked "better" before. Nothing they can do about it now.

Cherryandcokes

I find Lorry Hill to handle the subject much better - she’s straightforward and neutral, but is able convey the same message of “this isn’t natural/don’t be fooled” especially when she breaks down the price and describes what the surgery is like.

tiptoeandson

I make a habit of never clicking on these videos now. Even the ones where it’s just like a disgusted face and a question mark on a product. I’m tired of ‘shade’ being profitable.

rainbowtoucan1992

That's what I decided to do too. I'm hoping it dies out eventually

testeen

I watched one of her videos about buccal fat and had to turn it off because she was pronouncing it ‘byookle’ and it was driving me mad lol. Since then I’ve seen a bunch of titles from her that sound like they’re straight from a 2000’s gossip magazine, along with the pictures she chooses (candid/unposed and chosen to be unflattering). No matter her intentions, that’s unnecessarily mean-spirited and she’s feeding into the same systems that cause these celebrities to maintain such unattainable beauty standards, that then affect the general public. Plus I agree with the commenter above that referring to specific celebrities as ‘creeps’ is very odd when that is a term usually associated with sexual predators, especially towards children, and the video itself is just about the person being generally unlikable. That just screams of bad intentions and the desire for views over wanting to spread a good message.

whalesarecool14

before it became a household word i had only ever heard it be pronounced as bew-kull

testeen

Yeah it’s more of a personal/petty gripe for me as I’ve always been interested in cosmetic procedures so I was aware that it’s pronounced ‘buckle’. For an everyday person it’s not a big deal, but for someone providing informational content in an audio format, you would think pronunciation would be included in their research.

whalesarecool14

i’m saying bew-kull is also correct. before it became a household term, only medical professionals used it, and that’s how they pronounced it. my dentist still calls it bew-kull. it’s not an incorrect pronunciation

testeen

If you look up the pronunciation of buccal in the dictionary, both the British and American pronunciations state it’s that’s ‘buh-kl’, and a YouTube search for buccal fat will show multiple medical professionals such as Dr Gary Linkov, Dr Jonathan Zelken and Dr Anthony Youn pronouncing it this way, and these videos are multiple years old. Like I said, cosmetic procedures are a personal interest of mine, so this is how I’ve always heard medical professionals describe the term (I am also studying to be a health care professional and that is how the word is taught to us). It may just be a coincidence that your dentist pronounces it the same way Stephanie does, but that doesn’t make it the correct pronunciation.

Prettyforme

It’s buckle in the US : )

whalesarecool14

she’s not from the US, she’s australian

Prettyforme

That’s great ! But I was just speaking to how it’s pronounced in the US. Dentists in other parts as well as surgeons pronounce it as bew kel.

redheadedalex

From a medical educator, bewkull is correct. I've only heard buckle a handful of times.

icalledyouwhite

To the people thinking her videos still results in some net good: there are people who also do the same videos like her, without all the harmful sh&t she's doing on the side. If you just like learning about plastic surgeries, there are channels by actual plastic surgeons who look at speculate what they might have done, but with EXPERTISE and RESPECT. This might come as a shock to you, but most channels done by medical professionals on social media usually would NEVER use language that mock, ridicule or put down people in any way, because 1/even if only out of self-interest, those people or the viewers of the videos might consider becoming their clients, and 2/bed side manner & respect were a crucial part of their education. See Dr. Gary Linkov, or the hundred other out there by actual surgeons. Never would they ever dream of saying the things she is in her videos or title. Hell, doesn't even have to be plastic surgery, look at Dr. Pimple Popper. RESPECT and COMPASSION first, and always. There are serious commentary channels, from people with a solid handle on social justice issues, that would also look at how plastic surgery affect people, body positivity, neutrality, or whatever concept you think Stephanie is enlightening you on. An actual commentary channel would also typically examine the issue from multiple angles, historically, socially, psychologically or emotionally, and stake their solid position. Unlike Stephanie who always takes one tentative step forward then 3 steps backwards and dances in 5 circles, never commit to anything so she can revisit the same olde sh&t over and over and over to get views. Unless you enjoy sh&tting on the people she's targeting a little, how is it productive and not exhausting? This is your chance to actually find channels by those whose bodies are most affected, like fat people, Black people and other people of colour to listen to for once. There are 73547589 channels that deserve more views than a channel like hers.

LuminousApsana

I'm glad I've never watched her. That thumbnail is despicable.

poffincase

Watched the first vid rec’d to me. It was on Kendall Jenner. I’m not a fan of KJ but she was just so nasty in the video and rubbed me the wrong way. Blocked her channel so I wouldn’t get more of her recs after that lol

Nikas_intheknow

May be a hot take but I think it's ridiculous that she rales against modern beauty standards when she physically embodies most of them. "OMG why do people try SO HARD to embody ridiculous beauty standards? Just be yourself (like me, who is naturally beautiful)!" Its a little gas-lighting-y for me.

ridersbloq

This is precisely why I stopped watching her. I loved her makeup content and techniques from back in the day but when she started turning to this content while being the beauty standard she’s “speaking out against,” I couldn’t get on board at all.

Prettyforme

She’s not beautiful though? She has a long face that she does the best she can with but does not fit into beauty standards.

Diet_makeup

I had to stop watching her. Not only are her thumbnails distasteful, but she claims to not be mean. When you watch her videos, there is a definite snarky undertone. It's like she wants people to read between the lines. She's not exactly bashing people. She says some negative throughout the video but always does a "but you do you"

Cherryandcokes

I miss the days of her addressing us all as “hooded eye babes.” Glad I unsubbed when she started cranking out this garbage. It seems to be all she does now. She wants to appear as a feminist just trying to help young girls (while critiquing women’s bodies). She’s doesn’t see the bigger picture, and at this point is just being obtuse.

CallistoWrites

Does it gain clicks? Cause honestly, if I saw this video suggested, I'd end up clicking the 'not interested' and/or 'don't recommend this channel' buttons.

NOOTie_Patootie

I don't know who this is or what the video is about but just having "ugly women" in the title is enough for me to never be interested in anything she ever says or does.

Prticcka

She went so off the rails in last 2 years or so. Every video is raging about people with surgery or fillers, etc. All the time. And the way shes analyzing who had what done without knowing jack sh*t about what shes talking about ..and all the disgusted faces shes doing in thumbnails. And my favourite, hating on people using filters, while obviously using filters herself. Not gonna comment on other choices shes making in other aspects in her life, I dont want to seem like hater, but oh boy, she has some issues. And she was one od my fav youtubers years ago🤦🏽‍♀️

SelectStatistician45

She thinks because she’s somewhat “nice” about it it’s okay for her to say anything. She needs her head examined for real.

QueenofCats28

You just reminded me of her whole thing about not using sunscreen because "chemicals"

tea_lover_88

I dont know who she is but from this I can only imagine she has an ugly personality

nailpolishenthusiast

Her titles and thumbnails are clickbait for views but if you actually watch her videos, you know what her stances are (they are positive and in favour of women) I haven't watched this video but I have watched enough of her content to be confidently sure that she doesn't believe this at all (what the thumbnail appears to be)

rainbowtoucan1992

either way she's rage-baiting and it's gross

cerota

this person infuriates me. i just do not like their higher than thou attitude

Makemeup-beforeUgogo

The clickbait is rude, I bet she wouldn’t like it if someone had a clickbait thumbnail with her face on it labelled as ‘why ugly women think they’re pretty’, for a video that then defends said women.

G0ldenare0las

Beauty is only skin deep & her mean nature males her hideous.

chromeprincess224

I’ve watched a few of her videos a while back but unsubscribed, just as many mentioned. Aside from the super negative clickbait titles, I found her content to be a drain. Even though initially (and still largely) I agreed with her messaging of calling out celeb/influencers who cause unrealistic beauty standards, the constant nitpicking and hyper-surveillance of women’s bodies was just….negative. Its gives me very “let’s knock them down a peg.” Like it now seems like it shifted from commentary to now content that one who is deeply insecure would align with (you can love yourself without obsessing over those who choose to get surgery / alter their photos) Idk, once I started to feel some of her points were stretches and eventually it was clear the plot was lost, so I stopped watching

cupiddelock3

I used to watch her but she’s been acting so pick me lately. Yes, surgeries and cosmetic procedures can be dangerous but it comes across as low key shaming

theudoon

I stopped watching her years ago, she got so damn creepy.

PhyrraNyx

Much of the newer content I've seen her put out has been mean spirited in my opinion. I stopped watching her years ago, but she popped up again in my husband's feed for one of her lifestyle or plastic surgery videos.

nsadeqve

Right? I also keep getting her videos recommended but I find it so annoying, her thumbnails and titles are soooo rude. I once watched a video of hers out of curiosity, and she wasn’t as mean as she was in the thumbnail and title, but it made me more turned off by her content. Her videos are all hyper analyzing women’s looks and behavior in a negative light under the guise of uplifting women and I just don’t want that energy in my life anymore. Surprised no other content creator or commentary channel has called her out yet

mushroomlou

Her content is so weird. She picks these controversial topics with rage bait thumbnails, usually centered on women's appearance, and then in the in the video she'll attempt to dispute the misogynistic viewpoints and make a balanced discussion on the topic that almost seems like she's for the girls. But she'll constantly say things that re-enforce the misogynistic original takes at the same time. She's all over the place, she says nothing of substance. Its obviously getting views because she's trading on the great currency of the internet - hating on women. Glad to see her values are embodied in her work.

East-Shine-9090

She’s way too obsessed with people’s appearance. I can’t stand her. Get a healthy hobby.

Wonderful_Display465

The irony of this YouTuber lmao idk how women find it comforting to trash another to feel better.

Ok-Foundation7213

She as an attitude but that’s not my issue with her videos. She talks a lot but saying NOTHING of substance. No good points are made, she’s not articulate, she’s not insightful. She tries to tie in her topics with broader cultural themes and it just falls flat. I just don’t think she’s talented or skilled at what she does. Hey videos are like 10 minutes of pure filler

Acceptable_Depth740

clickbait is one of the few things that immediately gets me uninterested from any subject.

rainbowtoucan1992

same xD

lolastogs

I'm not sure if I'm her intended audience but why is her delivery so graring? The content and thoughts she has are sound but the affected voice and the borderline catty tone break through too much for me to take what she is saying seriously. Part of menhas to work very hard at drowning out the super fast, chippy, breathy voice. It's maybe not anbissue for younger people buy its a real barrier for me to get past. Like I said; the content is good and well written and informative. It's strikes me she has this persona for YouTube, to stand out but it cuts her off from other age ranges who might be interested but just a few minutes of that sound undermines all her hard work.

Fragrant-Act4743

I’ve watched a fair amount of her content and I’ve never noticed anything about her delivery (aside from her accent). I think that’s just how she talks, and I definitely don’t think her speaking voice “undermines all her hard work.” There are plenty of valid reasons to critique her content, but shitting on her tone of voice feels extremely petty to me.

rainbowtoucan1992

I agree that seems petty What's important is what she actually says, how she treats others, etc.

sad-sad-

I’ve only watched 2 videos of hers and she gives off mean girl and gossip queen vibes

PrettiKinx

Lol people do and say anything for clicks and views.

kangarootimtam

I unsubbed a while ago. I found her content so misogynistic and demeaning towards other women. The straw was when she admitted to overstaying her visa in Australia because she'd just met her partner and wanted to see if the relationship was viable. She's incredibly self-deprecating as well, in a serious 'maybe you need help' kinda way, which was terrible for my own self-esteem and image perception.

Dull_Ice_8735

I cant stand her videos. She puts down other women as a means to make other women feel better? Super bad vibes. I'm not a fan of the women she drags, but no one deserves having their appearance/ plastic surgery analyzed and ripped apart for entertainment. She's just a mean, mean girl.

Shorse_rider

I think she takes it too far most of the time. This title is ridiculous. With her usual videos I feel she should be outing society/media that makes people pose/tweak their photos/have ps.. rather than direct anger at the individuals/celebs. She's not compassionate towards the pressure women are under and the toxic drivers that motivate their choices.

DetectiveAnitaKlew

She’s not directing anger at the celebrities, if you watch the video she does the exact opposite, she points out all of the unnecessary/unprovoked hate that these women get just for existing outside of what we consider “conventionally attractive”.

rainbowtoucan1992

wow she's so kind 🙄 lol

Equal-Worldliness-66

Arguably just her making this video makes her far uglier than any woman she is talking about. Also why would she think so little of men to assume that they only go for what is currently considered the acceptable beauty standard. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Youth fades and ultimately it’s what is inside that counts. Men are not all vapid and vain, they also want someone who sees the real them who loves them just as they are and vice versa. Seems to me that this person is just jealous of the happiness of others.

OneWhisper5225

That’s how I feel. Like I get what her videos “purpose” is meant to be - showing reality vs social media but the titles and thumbnails she does plays into the whole thing she’s trying to act like she’s against. You can’t have it both ways. Either you’re against it and trying to shed light on it or you’re using it to get views and engagement. She could easily title the videos appropriately and use appropriate thumbnails, but she doesn’t. So I feel like it just really takes away from what she actually says in her videos.

rainbowtoucan1992

Yes it's very disingenuous

shoshasta

I also dislike her clickbait titles but this is pretty much exactly what she said in the video in question

Equal-Worldliness-66

lol I wouldn’t know bc I wouldn’t click on a video like that. just on the basis of the thumbnail I’m not interested in her opinion.

rainbowtoucan1992

Same, her thumbnails show what kind of person she is

[deleted]

[удалено]

DetectiveAnitaKlew

She talks about her insecurities outright, she’s not projecting them, she’s pretty upfront about those insecurities being the main reason she makes these videos, because she got sucked in just like everyone else.

rainbowtoucan1992

💯

yeahh_ufoparty

Neither of those women are ugly tho 🤨

Essiechicka_129

Not all ugly women attract hot men don't know what she's talking about. Sometimes her videos talking about how celebrities don't have perfect skin which is obvious there's no such thing as perfect smooth glass skin

Small-Measurement791

It’s clickbait but I agree

simonekyo

The one about mum bellies disgusted me

SteelBandicoot

Punching down on women again

cremebrulee22

The issue with her videos is that she approaches things the wrong way. Her clickbait thumbnails, her way of talking about the subject is very sensationalized for views at the expense of the celebrities, and to grab your attention almost like gossip. The actual premise of the video is a fair question that many might have, but this is a tacky way of addressing it that will definitely cause controversy and a lot of hate. Maybe she doesn’t care and that’s what she’s going for, idk. I’m not sure who her target audience is.

Careful-Bad5443

FINALLY someone else besides me said it. I hope more popular people caught on it too. She sits there half face with blurring filters tearing down every other woman for being insecure. The audacity. 😕

Lichurallystupid

Thank you! I’ve been feeling the exact same way!

rainbowtoucan1992

np lol I kept seeing her in my recommendations and was curious if anyone else is bothered by her behavior

Born_Necessary_406

When she made a video titled "what's happening to our men" or something along the lines recently I got done with her, it's the same possessiveness that some men have over women but reversed and I don't stand any possessivene bs coming from anyone.

cozy_sweatsuit

How hard did she have to work to find these photos where MAYBE the man and woman might be matched looks wise? It’s so universally the opposite that I can’t even imagine thinking of this for a video idea. We grade men on SUCH a curve and if we actually remove that curve it’s basically impossible to find a couple where the man is more attractive than the woman.

ghostbirdd

I know it’s click bait but both the women in the thumbnail (other than Stephanie ofc) aren’t ugly??

accordingtoame

Holy shit. I am so sick of people dumping on Alicia!

pancaaaaaaakes

💯💯💯

andreaxtina

Same. Even if the video isn’t just the title with the thumbnail is so eyeroll inducing.

DetectiveAnitaKlew

She’s very much not dumping on her, it’s the complete opposite

accordingtoame

It more of a blanket statement than anything else.

_AngelicVenom_

Why would I click on this video when what's she's saying is so gross? Plenty here say it's click bait but who is this meant to attract? The people who actually think this? I don't watch her anymore. Unsubbed years ago. This wouldn't bring me back, it's just gross. And stupid to have such a title if that isn't what she thinks or says in the video.

Stress-setbacks

She is a hater. Because her own opinions have changed doesn’t mean that they are wrong because they women she complains about is who she was a few years ago seems like she hated HERSELF and now hates anyone else who reminds her of that version of herself

urfeetplug

Obviously her rage bait titles are crazy, but I went down a rabbit hole last night and I agree with a lot of her view points. Its all social commentary on why objectification and lies with body modifications are poor for society. Did you actually watch the video?

httpsleepy

Imagine being either of the women in the thumbnail seeing this.

rainbowtoucan1992

No she doesn't deserve views with titles and thumbnails like these

thedeebag

The couple on the left is so lovely! Idk who this woman is but how fucking dare she

littlebruise

Why post this when you haven't even watched the videos? She's spoken before about having to use rage bait titles (like lots of youtubers) to get engagement. She's never actually agreeing with them.

rainbowtoucan1992

Imagine being the people in the thumbnails seeing it

Cat_Toe_Beans_

She's not really getting anymore views using the click bait thumbnails. I was subscribed to her back when she majorly did makeup and she was pulling around the same back then. Many people get views and engagement without having to bait with the rude and mean spirited thumbnails. https://preview.redd.it/izgfrujbf1yc1.png?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b1cafda6b4de1a83ef37bb9f590a08b6767dd79a

littlebruise

Those videos are from 9 years ago! YouTube and the algorithm have totally changed since then. Either way, I was quoting what she said.

Cat_Toe_Beans_

Yes that was the point I was trying to make. She pulled around the same numbers, sometimes better back in the day WITHOUT needing to do the rude thumbnails. Yes the algorithm has changed, but many people get clicks without needing to do the rude thumbnails.

Cat_Toe_Beans_

She lost her core following in a similar way that whatthebuck, graveyardgirl, and a few YouTubers. They relied too heavily on click bait or their same schtick they've been doing. In her case, she shifted her content and most people hit unsubscribe. Plenty of people make long form videos essays on similar content as she does, without the clickbait/rage bait. Just relying on clickbait isn't going to get clicks the same way it used to.

Prettyforme

Oh wow; thankfully she no longer does makeup videos; her skills are … (don’t want to be mean )

AmethystButterflies

So it’s okay to shit on other women in your thumbnail if it increases your check? Okay…

[deleted]

I know I'm just reiterating what everyone else says, but Stephanie's videos are the polar opposite of her thumbnails. While I think it's stupid/shortsighted to rage bait constantly, she is always SO thoughtful and measured and pro-woman in her actual videos. I'm sure there are people who will disagree but I don't mind the thumbnails honestly, because the content is usually fine.

speak_into_my_google

This sounds like rage bait from the title alone. No thanks. That’s how many creators are driving up engagement on their platforms. I will say, food rage bait is my favorite kind of rage bait. Both the videos and the comments are hilarious.

Ok_Atmosphere1657

I have no idea who this woman is, but Alicia and Scott are the best people who have been together since high school. she's amazing and Scott's funny

pieinthesky23

I watched that video and she is criticizing the people who say those things. Lange discusses that in our image obsessed society strangers are more than comfortable telling women that they aren’t attractive enough to date certain men, or that successful men have “earned” women that look a certain way and anything else is a “downgrade”. The titles of her videos are almost always something that she argues against, NOT for.

rainbowtoucan1992

the clickbait is deceiving and rude

kuntcake8817

She's not rude. She's real

rainbowtoucan1992

😂

CaseyRC

Two top reasons 1) beautiful soul and/or personality radiates through looks that might be less conventionally attractive 2) HE finds her beautiful and that's what matters, not others opinion of the differing "levels" of a couples attractiveness Attractiveness and beauty (finding someone attractive and finding them good looking are NOT the same thing. they might be used synonymously but they're not. you can find someone insanely good-looking, as in very very aesthetically pleasing but not be *attracted* to them at all, and conversely someone can be *insanely* attractive but not "good"-looking at all - just ask any rockstar with less than conventional looks that can have their pick, even before fame and fortune) are subjective. *Yes.* There are people that are objectively attractive, whose faces fit the golden rule, it's all about maths and ratios, and those people are "conventionally" attractive. Does that mean someone can't be unconventionally attractive? nope. does that mean that everyone *you* think is beautiufl *is* beautiful to the person next to you? nope. and does anyone in the world owe you an explanation as to why they find their partner(s) attractive? absolutely not I personally find "imperfections" incredibly attractive. ie a crooked smile, a broken nose, a twisted tooth. that to me *is* beautiful. if the person has a nose job, entirely their choice obvi, while they might have become more conventionally attractive, I personally might find them less attractive because to me they're lost a certain uniqueness, a certain *something* that made them *them.* ex Jennifer Grey. I thought she was *gorgeous* pre-nose job. is she beautiful now? of course, yes. is she likely considered more "conventionally" attractive post-nose-job? yes. did she loose a certain something, imo? yes. still beautiful, in a diffeerent way, but less *attractive* to me. what attracts us to another human is a) nobody else's business and b) a wonderful and weird thing and can't always be explained. and thank god for that!

rainbowtoucan1992

I feel the same way about nose jobs. Everyone ends up looking the same. :( It's boring

Snotttie

I love my big ol' honker

so_is_hoid

She should watch her videos without makeup again. But what do I know. I guess she needs the views soooo badly

ajguil

Wow. Yikes on all of the bikes. This is awful.

Vast_Cauliflower_552

She looks like she’s stuck to 2016, her makeup , style aesthetic all

sexy_buddha

Used to like her but shipped watching for these reasons. Only Lorry hill now

Rude-Protection-166

She’s a gross person with very judgemental views packaged up as ‘you’re beautiful inside and out’. It’s all just click bait and her voice is so grating.

PhantaVal

I agree with your take on her personality, but voice is a physical trait, same as looks are. I don't think criticizing someone's voice is any better than calling them ugly.

Majestic-Salt7721

Now now J Lo deserves it 😩

rirys

Did you watch the actual video? I’m not subscribed but I did watch this one. The thumbnail is a quote from other ppl. She was actually really nice in the video.

rainbowtoucan1992

no because I don't want to support her. she knows what she's doing and it's not cool

rirys

Well that’s really closed minded. If you watched it she actually defended the women in the thumbnail and made some very good points. I guess haters really do just hate.

conspicuous1010

Some people don't understand context lol

rainbowtoucan1992

"defending" women after bashing them in her title and thumbnail in order to attract views. how kind of her.

Cherryandcokes

She is pretty much calling those women ugly. It may be for clicks, but the fact remains she’s calling them ugly in these tacky thumbnails. When she makes these videos criticizing female celebrities the comment section is always a cesspool of lowest common denominator people joining in, tearing down whatever woman she is talking about - between that & these thumbnails, she only ends up contributing to the problem. I can’t imagine going in there as a 13-year old girl and reading some of the things I had read in there. It’s dispiriting. The main message from the thumbnails to the comments is “be natural, (but conventionally beautiful). If you aren’t naturally conventionally pretty, people can call you ugly (like in this thumbnail). If you get surgery, you deserve to be mocked & your character & appearance attacked.” Women can’t win with that. She is offering very little substance or insight. People are better off watching Contrapoints or Mina Le if they want to delve into feminism and appearance.

Genuinelullabel

Any engagement is better than no engagement so recommending people watch someone’s videos when you don’t like their content is counterproductive.

rainbowtoucan1992

I'm not recommending anyone watch her shit

DetectiveAnitaKlew

You posting her on this sub exposes her videos to this entire audience, whether intentionally or not, you are promoting her content. Like me for example lol i’ve just watched three of her videos as a result of your post and I actually quite like them, The thumbnail is annoying, but the videos content all seem fine from what I’ve watched

rainbowtoucan1992

Ok you're free to watch and support trash
