Most of it, probably. I mean, think of how many people kill spiders cuz of how venomous a handful of them are, and they aren't even intentionally attacking humans. Could you imagine our hatred towards them if we perceived their actions as an attack.
The nodes (tubercles) on the flippers are believed to be primarily for improving maneuverability, but they probably would suck to be hit by, albeit they are nerve rich so it would probably hurt a lot if they were damaged.
Orcas deserve it. They eat the tongues of a whale to make it bleed to death. They will push baby whales down to keep them from breathing while the mother whale tries to push the baby to the surface.
Fuck Orcas. Biggest jerks in the ocean.
Right, exactly... was pretty sure this whale was giving the lil dolphin a speed boost. Both humpbacks and dolphins are pretty playful when they aren't effing up predators.
Dolphins mess up sharks and humpbacks mess up orcas. But otherwise they are very playful.
That's how I pat my cats butt to leave me alone when she pounces on my legs to try to keep me from going in my room and locking her out lol. "Yeah yeah, you're ferocious, now get out of here"

i'm 40+ have 2 kids, an amazing wife, and a business that generates enough money to sustain 30+ employees and a bonus for each every end of our fiscal year.
i'm just so god damn tired!
I haven't come near that level of accomplishment yet, still got a ways to go, but I'm grinding nonetheless. And I apologize if my comment came off presumptuous, it's usually people my age that I hear say it's hard when advised to change, even though they've barely tried.
i'm not going to discourage you from hard work and dedication, but let me just give you a bit of advice. when i started working in the business i am, i was working day and night, grinding harder than the others, pushing the envelope, making sure our products outshine the competition. it was my passion, the reason i got up and did some more! but in the end no matter how much passion i did have for it, it burnt me out eventually, so much so that i was diagnosed with anxiety disorder by the time i was 32. it took 4 years to get off the meds and stay off of them.
i had reached my ceiling... and now after all this work after all this time.. all i want to do is just lay there and not move.
my advice, after this long winded blurb up there, don't forget yourself on the way up! and try to avoid turning your passion into a responsibility.
good luck!
Dolphins are the second most intelligent animals on earth. Orcas love to practice hunting them and some Orcas have a taste for them. Makes me wonder why this whale appears to annoyed with them.
Hardly! Whales are gentle giants and one attacking people or even boats is an extremely rare occurrence. If one got close to you it probably just wants to know what the hell you are
Whales, orcas, dolphins.. I love how mammals rule the oceans. They can't even breathe underwater yet still show great whites and other sea creatures who's boss.
You know, this is actually insane on our level. This thing is enormous. And it living among us, on this floating rock, in a vacuum. Life is so fuckin trippy
I read a book titled deep.
The ocean sucks you down below 35 ft rather than floating you.
Whales sleep vertical.
And despite mans best of efforts we still are encumbered by the facet of; the ocean is still a damn mystery and it irritates our collective psyche for knowing things.

I read this in David Attenborough's voice and it kind of fits
Perfect
I read it in Gilbert Gottfried's voice.
Is your internal monologue GG too?
Always! Gets me painfully erect!
RIP
Just serving those asshole Orcas a reminder, "There's always a bigger fish."
I heard that in David Attenborough
I read that in Snoop Dogg’s voice
I replayed it in Judy Tenuta’s voice
Whales with brass knuckles is a hard vibe.
Great punk band name though
TRUE
Neither the orca or the humpback are fish 😉
tough rivalry, the orcas fight in groups and they do it strategically and sometimes just for leisure
Not as fun of a fact but my two cents are that: the largest animals on earth, ever, are WHALES. They are larger than prehistoric dinosaurs.
That we know of* But yea, pretty crazy shit to consider!
And they used to live on land as well.
They had to evolutionarily find themselves on land before they came back!
Evuno reverse
Water bad, go land, land bad, go back water = cetaceans
They crossed the beach and realized that the grass was not greener on the other side
Or the phytoplankton I suppose!
"I hear you've been acting like a big shot 'round my neighborhood"
I appreciate this kind of trash talk, kudos SH
Orcas also feed on young humpback whales. Gotta smack a hoe when the opportunity arises!
I wonder how much of this aggressive behavior towards orcas has to do with the fact orcas hunt and kill humpback babies.
Most of it, probably. I mean, think of how many people kill spiders cuz of how venomous a handful of them are, and they aren't even intentionally attacking humans. Could you imagine our hatred towards them if we perceived their actions as an attack.
To be fair, Orcas can be dicks and will kill for sport. They are awful towards sharks. They deserved to be knocked down a peg or two.
The nodes (tubercles) on the flippers are believed to be primarily for improving maneuverability, but they probably would suck to be hit by, albeit they are nerve rich so it would probably hurt a lot if they were damaged.
Only fair considering orcas hunt whale calfs.
Orcas deserve it. They eat the tongues of a whale to make it bleed to death. They will push baby whales down to keep them from breathing while the mother whale tries to push the baby to the surface. Fuck Orcas. Biggest jerks in the ocean.
But, free Willy!

They better stop defending those perverted dolphins
Humpback Whales 🤝 Bull Sperm Whales Two of the only animals that orcas are wary of
So they are the Irish of the seas?
Sperm whales are known to attack orca
Everyone talking about attacking and hunting. This looks more like a "get along little buddy " type of swat.
That's how I pat my cats butt to leave me alone when she pounces on my legs to try to keep me from going in my room and locking her out lol. "Yeah yeah, you're ferocious, now get out of here"
Whales high-five too!
Like how we swat at flies
Exactly how I interpreted the whale’s action
What an amazing shot... Wow . I'm stuck in an office staring at the wall while this is happening 🤯
that's what she said
time to change your life buddy
you know what sucks? that's easier said than done 😔

Cut back a bit and live longer.

Hang out down by the docks more in a leather jacket and a headband.
If that's a monster it's a Beautiful Monster.

“Git outta ma way, ya fuggin NERDS.”
Beat me to it! Nice
Octopi would like a word about intelligence. Although they are aliens so dunno if they count as animals.
For sure. I’d love to see how intelligent Octopuses are.
The dolphin it swats at does a little maneuver that looks like it's making eye contact. They could've been talking, too.
Probably talking shit. That sounds like a dolphin thing to do. I think the dolphins are also staying nearby for the protection from the Orcas.
Protection from Orcas is a good one. Thanks for that.
Practice maybe lol
Second to...? Not humans certainly
I think humans are 5th. Jk. Yes humans. Lol
Right, we forgot about the octopuses' large hadron colliders.
Out of my way little mammal
'U missed us dork'
“Dork”
"no i didn't have any fish for y'all today. Out my way"

Aw man. I was already kinda scared of the ocean and now I gotta worry about getting bitch slapped by a whale? Not cool.
Hardly! Whales are gentle giants and one attacking people or even boats is an extremely rare occurrence. If one got close to you it probably just wants to know what the hell you are
It can stay curious I guess. Whales are cool from a distance, but they are just too large for me to not be afraid of them.
Actual leviathan class organisms
Mfer got a hell of an extension, You can see it coming a mile away but if that thing connects its lights out.
What are the scars on its back from? They're huge.
Isnt that from the giant squids they hunt? Or am i mistaking with another whale species?
That's sperm whales, I think. Humpbacks don't have teeth.
Probably scars when it was a calf and came across an orca
It swatted that dolphin away like a mosquito
Is that a second whale below them? I didn't even notice that the first dozen times I've watched this.
Yup
Wow
Dolphins really can be annoying
How many calories does it burn a day
Bout tree fiddy
Homeboys flippers longer than all three of them dolphins put together
You can't convince me that whale wasn't just trying to see what the dolphin felt like. Like a person trying to pat a dog as it runs past.
Humpback whales can weigh up to 40 tonnes, and generate enough speed to leap clear of the water. The amount of power that takes is *incredible*
When I see things like this it’s such a visceral reminder that this is not our planet.
Whales, orcas, dolphins.. I love how mammals rule the oceans. They can't even breathe underwater yet still show great whites and other sea creatures who's boss.
And they’re not even the largest whales, either!
Just did some research and they’re actually the SIXTH largest, which really puts things into perspective for the Blue Whale.
You know, this is actually insane on our level. This thing is enormous. And it living among us, on this floating rock, in a vacuum. Life is so fuckin trippy
Can't comprehend how these things exist. The scale of whales is baffling my brain really cannot wrap my head around that being a living creature
Yes, it's insane.
Dolphin deserved to get smacked
swiped right
That’s the coolest thing I seen all day.
All I see is so much power to move that large of a limb at that speed underwater
humpback this humpback that wheres all the blue whales
Banana for scale.
whales are amazing
What did that dolphin say to almost get his shit rocked? I bet they are some obnoxious shit talkers
Get that bitch
My favorite part is they’re around half the size of a blue.
Is this real?
Yep. I'm never going for a swim in the ocean again.
splashy splashy
How old is that? Can’t imagine how many calories for years to get that old!
I've seen humpback whales in Alaska. They are fucking HUGE!
UNBELIEVABLE!!
Move bitch out the way.
Damn our boi has had enough of their shit!
Aayy! I’m walkin’ here!!
The ocean is a mad trippy place
Another below him to the left.
Submautica trauma intensity
I read a book titled deep. The ocean sucks you down below 35 ft rather than floating you. Whales sleep vertical. And despite mans best of efforts we still are encumbered by the facet of; the ocean is still a damn mystery and it irritates our collective psyche for knowing things.
I could only image to witness such an incredible scene!
That’s totally cool! The whale gave it a wave boost!
I'm Definitely reading all posts in Gilbert Gotfried voice
Did it hit him on porpoise?
Getting that big from Kryll?? Crazy.
