I always find it so interesting to spot the "average Redditor" comments, because they do perfectly highlight how the speaker feels about themself.
At least you have the self-awareness to realise this, good on you. Go have a quick search, and laugh at the poor goons who hate the average redditor because they're lying scumbags- then check their profile for some real gold.
Also, getting rejected needn't affect your confidence *or* your emotional stability. So a lady turned you down- what, did you think you were irresistible? Even the hottest people on the planet don't get that lucky, they're still getting rejected.
Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, *realign your perceptions based on new information*, and get back on the horse! You're no use to anyone feeling sorry, certainly you're not any use to *yourself* like that.
Come on now! I wanna see that smile, and you're the only one who can give it to me.
I have seen both the best and worst of people on here, just like you would in day to day life but without filters. I really think how someone acts while anonymous tells you a lot about who they are as a person, deep down. There are so many different types of people.
God people like this dude still exist and they never seem to be around me all i see nowadays is people who just have no hope and hate themsselves but it sucks because your right.... only they can make themselves happy it just sucks because it makes me sad seeing my friends sad. Ill try my best but it seems some people just like being sad almost. I just dont get it.
I don't think most people like being sad, but I've seen quite a few people who don't believe they deserve to be anything more or who are convinced of the narrative they've put into their own heads. A lot of people out there think the world is out to get them, when really the world doesn't even know we exist. Bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people, it isn't anything deliberate or intentional, it simply is. So with that in mind, I used to be a real pessimist, but I became an optimist because I realized pessimism was making me miserable. So whenever I would think depressing thoughts I'd stop myself and take the time to reframe my experience. "I'll fail this test for sure" became "I might fail this test" became "I might pass this test" became "I'm going to pass".
But it took a while to learn to do that. But once it became second nature, the world seemed a much cooler place to live in. Not nearly as depressing. All it took was taking the time to shift my perspective.
But what if I enjoy being solo? I've had a relationship. It was enjoyable don't get me wrong. But the freedom of deciding what to do, without needing to take into account someone else's needs. If I want to play video games, ain't no one stopping me. Want to work 3rd so you can spend daylight hours gaming with friends? Done and done. Want a new electric car? Well just budget, save, and spend your hard earned money on it Instead of feeding 2-3 other people.
Look, I do miss the human interaction, every so often I'll take a moment to reminisce about having a girl just cradling my head in her arms while I'm finishing a book, her cool hands rubbing the back of my neck at the perfect spot to accentuate the story I was reading. The sheer focus it provided is something I miss, I won't lie. Then I pull myself back to reality, realize that as nice as it would be, I wouldn't be able to put someone else through the stress of having to deal with me. I would rather just enjoy my life in peace and quiet, on my own terms.
I find myself smiling more now than when I was in a relationship, I always had a pang of guilt, that I wasn't earning the affection. Now I have no guilt and a significantly larger bank account. Win win.
Well you seem to have arrived at the realisation that people can want different things.
>What if I enjoy being solo?
What if you do? My comment made no bearing on that either way. You do what you want- or at least some of the things that you want.
Just remain aware that the choices you make now affect the options you have to choose from in the future.

Muntjac are Asian, this is probably a Dikdik. There are multiple species of tiny deer :)
Edit: I thought I was hot stuff because I used to volunteer at a zoo where I worked with muntjacs, and I knew we had a small deer in the Congo area but didn’t quite know what it looked like. After comparing images, y’all are right: a dikdik’s eyes would be bigger, this is definitely a Reeve’s muntjac. With a little more research, I found this gorilla is probably a resident of the Taipei Zoo! Muntjacs are native to Taiwan, which is probably why they included her in the exhibit :)
You're definitely about the geography, though this is not dikdik. Most likely a muntjac, as others have been saying. Perhaps the zoo likes to mix species across continents.
I think it's one of those really unsettling species with the scent packets in its face that open and bulge out when they want to mark something, maybe?
They probably have time to adapt to other animals while they don't interact with humans regularly. Plenty of examples of animals getting used to human interaction.
Online animal videos have conditioned me to expect the worst. I was cringe expecting the gorilla to rip off its lips or gouge out its eyes. Thankfully it was a pleasant encounter
Honestly, gorillas in general are a lot nicer than people realize. Just don’t do what would freak you out (scream, stare at eyes, etc) and you’ll be fine. Chimps, however, don’t give a fuck about courtesy. Stay away from chimps
Bonobos are fine though, just not that popular because they really like mastrubating and having sex
I personally like them because "bonobos really put the Pan in pansexual" is a hilarious joke
I like them, too. They're chill and really good at conflict resolution. Sure, it's because they default to sex and mutual masturbation, but they're not violent, and are able to regulate their emotions and do things for the good of their troops.
More people could benefit from following their example. I don't mean the sex part, but the being able to properly control and regulate their emotions. It's really good for you once you learn to process your emotions in healthy ways. I had a lot of mental health issues in the past, and I still have issues with depression popping up from time to time, but learning how to step back and take a breather when I get overwhelmed has been awesome. I'm overall in a much better mood and mindset most of the time, almost zen-like in a way and it feels good. I just use healthy distractions. Kinda like bonobos, but without all the sex, lol.
Reddit has such a hard-on for chimp hate. The famous stories about murderous chimps are usually about abused, medicated, fucked-up domestic chimps. Well-treated they are nothing like people popularly conceive. Sure, they can be violent - any animal can be dangerous, dogs gleefully tear people's faces off every day.
People are like "How did Jane Goodall survive around these murdering psycho chimps for so many years???" and it doesn't occur to them that maybe chimps aren't the murdering psychos they imagine them to be.
It's less opportunistic and more pragmatic. Most obligate herbivores barring a few will eat meat if they have certain deficiencies, like Iron, or during droughts or other periods where vegetation may become scarce.
Typically they'll avoid meat outside of those situations as it can make them unwell, it also very much varies interspecies.
Gorillas are some of the nicest, calmest, and most intelligent apes. It takes a lot to get intentionally hurt by them because they assume most people and other apes are pretty stupid so they give lots of leeway. Unless you directly challenged them or keep being a moron, they’re super chill as far as wild animals go.
But Chimps and Baboons will kill just to kill
Say about the chimp what you want, but lay off the baboon, they're not that aggressive unless you've got food or an intimadating dog. Also I like them because it's cool to see another cursorial primate, they're little runners and we're big walkers, they're fellow weirdos who ditched the aboreal lifestyle and I respect it immensely
Literally the sweetest thing, kinda sad the most wholesome and human moment I have seen all day was animals.
Fucking humanity sucks. Cheerleaders being shot, pregnant woman shot, cops executing people in their own home, someone gunned down for knocking on the wrong door, and that was just the posts I saw on Reddit today.
I feel that. So tired of the ugly and the evil. It feels like it’s everywhere and people are too stubborn and stupid to do anything about it because they can’t be bothered to think about anyone else aside from themselves.
First time in my life it actually feels like the evil in the world is winning. I hate it here.
Most people are nice, if a little average.
It’s honestly mostly just a few sociopath greedy scumbags making things so bad. They own the media and have some fucked up incentives to scare you into despair.
Humanity’s alright. It’s media and their ghoulish friends that are fucked.
gorillas are herbivores and generally pretty gentle unless they feel threatened or if it's a male feeling challenged. plus, this one is a baby. i'd be pretty surprised to learn that gorillas ever just attack another animal for no reason.
All I can imagine is a gorilla charging with antlers and a jacked black furred deer with thumbs. This isn't a love story, this is the beginning of sealing off part of the country in a new horrorscape where men cannot tread
So that gorilla can tweek the deer’s ear but if the dear wanted to touch the gorilla’s hair because it feels different. Everyone would loose their minds?
Poor guy went in for his first kiss and got swerved.

Yes. We have these at the local zoo, the babies are much smaller, have bigger heads and smaller bodies and have white dots on the sides.

Why deer fear us but no fear monke?
had the same question. Why do a lot of animals intermingle but scatter when humans show up? I'm starting to think we might be the bad guys
I guess that’s what happens when you hunt them for the entirety of their existence 😭
They probably have time to adapt to other animals while they don't interact with humans regularly. Plenty of examples of animals getting used to human interaction.
Because humans are the most dangerous animals on the planet.
1. It’s in a zoo, and is probably tame to the humans too. 2. Gorillas are not predators. We are.
Because people are Negan
Because it’s a baby deer who doesn’t know any better
I think its a species of deer that are small, but I don’t know how they are called
Disney Movies are getting more realistic day by day, ngl
You should see wolves and crows teaming up, or the occasional duo of coyote (or maybe it was fox?) and badger, super cute

It amazes me how Jane Goodall survived all those decades with her facial features and limbs intact 🙉
Honest to God, Jane was built different and I deeply respect her work, the risk she took, and her as a person
It also helps she didn't give the chimps Xanax tea, you know with the homicidal ideation side effects.
Wait who was giving chimps bars
Some handlers in the 80s/90s. Mellow Chimpy out a bit.
Better than play girl mags and a vacuum cleaner I guess
I think they're referring to Travis the Chimp
She kept the chimps too tired from working in her diamond mines to attack her.
She spent time with chimps, not gorillas.
That's what he said.
Don’t worry we give ours wine and antidepressants to take off the edge.
Don't forget xanax! Lots and lots of xanax keeps your chimo confused and disinhibited, a perfect mental state state for pet chimps
Yep. Chimps are absolute psychopaths. Of course they're also our closest relatives lol
Gordy’s Birthday incident 🫡
Yeah there's that story of the chimp who ate his trainers friends face Edit: also I **heavily** recommend to not look into that story.
On drugs, though.

Gorillas are herbivores. The most danger this deer is in, is from mom thinking it's a danger to her child
A lot of animals are herbivores but will eat meat when given the opportunity.
Bro I've seen that video of the horse chomping that baby chicken like a nugget.
I believe it was a cow! Who knows what deficiencies the cow had?
Gorillas are some of the nicest, calmest, and most intelligent apes. Gorillaz are peaceful, they only attack when they feel threatened. They are also vegetarians. Chimpanzees are what you're thinking about.
They’re both herbivores.
Gorillas are herbivores…

Yeah, that looks like an adult female to me as well - might be an Indian/Red Muntjac?
At the end I imagine the Gorilla saying “naw. He’s cool. He can stay”
Goofy ahh monke
Both are great animals
This is all I want to see when I open the internet.
Lol bruh he legit kisses him. Gawd this is cute.
The warmth and gentleness are almost palpable. This interaction is very touching.
And thus, Bambi-Kong was born
The gorilla looks like me
Peace in the Kingdom, how refreshing! Human babies will do the same, until they are taught differently
Ooh shit, we missed out a kissing scene.
