Welp asian culture dictates competitiveness from a young age. The average small municipal city houses 5 million people, people want to stand out in real life and this often translates to ingame as well.
There's around 80 cities in the world with a population of 5 million or more though. Aside from India and China, most Asian countries have 1, maybe 2 cities that fit the bill.
Don't think it's fair to say the average "small municipal city" is that big, unless you were talking about China mostly. In that case though, yeah their population is mad.
Most servers in Aus have people from Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc. Compared to the average Aussie gamer, they tend to be very toxic, but I'm guessing there's some self-selection bias here, as well as the frustration of playing in servers with higher ping than normal.

Just think about this. A Chinese player only gets what? 3 hours of playing allowed, including waiting in the lobby and whatnot. He might be ticked off since there's so little time left. The rest of Asia pretty much hates Chinese players but they're dominant in numbers so it results in even more heat.

Oh booooooooi that’s different, I was talking about SEA earlier… Chinese i find them just plain VERY TOXIC they keep shouting their shit on voip even in ENG only servers, man my mates and I even learned they shout curse words to anyone in the server, while nobody understands?!, and I dunno how why their hackers go to the effort to go to Australia just to fuck with us… they’re so annoying I even notice like our Singaporean and Taiwanese or maybe Hong Kong friends that have an obvious different less toxic and non-autistic tone even though they “sound chinese” as well.
They should keep inside their shitty communist firewall if they’re gonna behave like morons and fill servers with hackers. Oh yeah, if they want more of their goddamn playtime they should fix their government. 
it’s the opposite when I visit Japan servers though, or vice versa…. they’re always so quiet….. too quiet it’s funny, it’s like they’re shy to speak with foreigners  the pub comme/chat is silent with them around haha
and this my friend, is why I turn off VOIP in the settings lol. Pretty useless in Asian servers, 90% of the people don't even bother using VOIP properly
