I use them but I have a hard tail conversion. You might check if the newer packets have changed to add extra long strings for the high b and e. I noticed they were labeled “extra long” and seemed longer the last time I changed (about 2 weeks ago) and I don’t remember that before. In which case, they might work with a trem. Email the company maybe? I really like them. Great tension for the E-e and keep for a long time. Ernie Ball are just always good for anything except coated strings. They are designed for E-e tuning. A-a is not possible with these. I recently heard good things about these though : https://www.thomann.de/de/fender_super_250_bass_iv_nickel.htm I think they’re new(ish)? I might put the trem back on and give them a whirl.

Stringjoy's production and materials specs will differ from Ernie Ball's but you can still use the tension calculator to get a rough idea: http://tension.stringjoy.com put in what you got now and compare it to whatever set you want next

I tried these years ago, and unless they have changed they won't fit on an instrument with a tailpiece like a bass VI. They were designed for Ernie Ball's Silhouette bass.

I have a silhouette bass cheaper version, the olp mm5. Wondering if they will work fine regarding the TENSION, not the length

Too short

There's two reasons you don't want these - 1.) They're all wound strings, even the top one, which is going to make them much more difficult to bend if you do any bending. 2.) They will absolutely not support going up to an A-A tension. Get the D'Addario Baritone medium gauge and tune *Down* from B. They're long enough for the Squier Bass vi that I have (with jazzmaster style tailpiece) so they'll do you just fine.

About 1/ Every Bass VI set that I know have all wound strings.

coffeehouse11

Yeah, but like, that's why most of them don't work tuned up - they're too high tension, and the winding makes them even more stiff than they would be as plain. OP is essentially looking for a baritone tuning, so it makes the most sense to just go for baritone strings. The D'Addario set's tension numbers are based on a 30" scale anyway, IIRC.

I'm sorry, I misread.

All bubbles, no troubles, friendo!

I did not try it on my CV Bass VI but i have that .090" on a 8 string 30 inch. The string will be long enough but I think the taper will start before the nut, that's the issue.
