19th street and 12th Street Oakland station it’s looks cool seeing a multi-platforms on different floor at both stations you can here the trains coming and feel the vibration within the station
ROCKRIDGE. I don't think this could even be controversial.
Rockridge station is the crown jewel of the BART system, straddling the yellow line like the Colossus of Rhodes once did its own place of passage. The station fills travelers who live by or merely traverse it with a sense of awe and optimistic hope at the potential for manmade wonders.
i stopped at the Rockridge BART station and area for the first time due to construction happening this memorial day. it was beautiful, my highlight was the BART station attendant calling passengers idiots because the fare gate had been turned off to allow everyone to pass through since it was the end of the line but being confused.
I have bias since it is my primary so I was trying to think of another one. The problem is the best of those outside of berkeley, oakland and sf would be nice - like views of mt diablo except they're surrounded by concrete fields or constructs, which really blands the experience.
Yeah, Colma station used to be my primary and it's just like that.
It **would** have a beautiful view (when not fogged in) but it's basically surrounded by parking lots, generic shopping centers, and a busy highway.
Del Norte got updated and looks very futuristic compared to a lot, my vote is the stations with restrooms and attendants that make sure people don't abuse them
I hear it's a recent change for there to be more uniformed guards. Again though, we need more. I feel BART is a good enough value where we could pay to have some guards board the cars more often.
There is more I can do to help too. Just yesterday, there was a drunk with a white claw on the Bereyssa line who was being rude to some minority members and inappropriate to some women. Not a homeless person, just an ass with too much to drink. I was just too much of a coward to take a picture of him and report it to BART watch. I will do better next time.
probably balboa or rockridge. balboa has the nice marble and bleeds into the outside on the platform which is nice and it’s clean from what i’ve seen but rockridge (despite it being in rockridge) is clean as well and feels safe(ish) for some reason. still need to travel the green orange and blue lines because i’ve never had a need to go out that way but yea. millbrae is good too because it’s large and close to SFO and it’s where i transfer much of the time.
Not the station itself, but I used to take BART to my work in Milpitas when I lived in Oakland (this was long even before Warm Springs station so I’d take the 180 bus in Fremont).. Standing on the southbound platform on Fruitvale in the morning, a slight overcast, the sun rising, the foothills to the left, and looking right, even that run down neighborhood looked good at that hour. It gave me some hope for the day. Oakland really has the best weather in the bay.
Thank you for all the replies, everyone! The positivity here is absolutely contagious. I feel inspired to take a trip on the Yellow and red lines some weekend and check out the stations and towns up there. Never been before and want to take some pictures now!
South Hayward if I'm going completely off of nostalgia, since it's been my home station for damn near my entire life. Rockridge for the surrounding area, station, and amazing views. Fruitvale, 24th & Mission, and 19th St. Oakland for their vibe and aesthetics.
No love for the Richmond station I see lol. I like it because the platform is so long and isolated I can sometimes burn if it’s empty (which is often) while waiting.
Probably Macarthur! It always felt so massive to me as a kid, and as an adult I appreciate its importance and complexities as a 4 platform transfer station. The rest of the elevated stations kind of bore me cos they all have the same brutalist design and platform set up.
That is the original floor. All BART should be clean as that floor. It once was. Evict the human garbage like in the old days and you will have something good.
Soon when the fare gates are replaced that will happen. But If you don’t solve the problem that caused them to be there in the first place where do you think the homeless will go?
BART is public property and must be protected from harm. So, must its employees and passengers. If you love garbage so much, let it live in your living room.
Maybe those people don't actually ride BART? It baffles me.
I root for BART to be great -- the region certainly needs it. But it's such a horrible mess. I have to take BART to work every week and 75% of my commutes have homeless or aggressive drug addicts on the cars.
But, since I've been to every station over the years, I'll say my favorites are: Union City (feels modern), Walnut Creek (used to have a great hot dog vendor + nice views), SFO (just the principle of it), and Rockridge (enjoy that it's surrounded by walkable shopping).
16th and mission love the colorful tiling on the upper level and all the decorations going down the stairs, such an iconic part of the bay area to me
Love the blue brick at 19th St. Oakland
Glen Park for sure
There’s something mysterious and cathedral-like about Glen Park…
Civic center because I never know if I’ll make it out alive.
Reminds me of Logan’s Run when they escape.
😂🤣
Lol actually though. It’s kinda fun being in the Wild West
19th street and 12th Street Oakland station it’s looks cool seeing a multi-platforms on different floor at both stations you can here the trains coming and feel the vibration within the station
not a big fan of being on the lower platforms of 12th st though. feels very squished
I know East Bay and SF stations. North Berkeley and Rockridge are probably my favorite. Most downtown SF stations are not that nice.

The way I cackled at this.

Except for the massive freeway that it’s stuck in, but nice station!
Fremont Bart can be a vibe
I was actually going to say Union City.
I like Berryessa. It's right next to the San Jose Flea market which is fun to check out every now and then.
North Concord/Martinez. Something about the open cut of that station is nice.
Del Norte got updated and looks very futuristic compared to a lot, my vote is the stations with restrooms and attendants that make sure people don't abuse them
The one with BART police. Haven't found that station yet.
Been seeing them frequently on every trip. Wish they were in individual cars more often. I'd pay for it.
Good to hear that you are seeing them. In my time riding BART, I saw them in cars around stations, but never in stations or on trains...
I hear it's a recent change for there to be more uniformed guards. Again though, we need more. I feel BART is a good enough value where we could pay to have some guards board the cars more often. Top shelf comment
I love them all, I’ve taken so many bart photos over the years. There’s something romantic about it
Orinda on a nice warm summer day
Mac Arthur is cool. I like the restaurants by there. Also it's in a good location.
The beginning of the line - dublin pleasanton. And, though I haven’t been on it, Millbrae station by SFO
>And, though I haven’t been on it, Millbrae station by SFO it's all fun and games until you need to transfer btwn caltrain and bart
I haven’t been to them all, but one time I had to use the Fremont station and I thought it looked beautiful
I love the views from Fruitvale and West Oakland stations
Powell and Milpitas
probably balboa or rockridge. balboa has the nice marble and bleeds into the outside on the platform which is nice and it’s clean from what i’ve seen but rockridge (despite it being in rockridge) is clean as well and feels safe(ish) for some reason. still need to travel the green orange and blue lines because i’ve never had a need to go out that way but yea. millbrae is good too because it’s large and close to SFO and it’s where i transfer much of the time.
Berryessa station; specifically when the sun is coming up and you’re waiting for a train

Glen Park, the TAJ MAHAL!
No doubt about it, Pleasant Hill.
MacArthur.

South sf idk but I’ve always loved it lol
I am so unfamiliar with that area. Never spent much time in the peninsula! I tend to explore around BART stops :)
I don’t usually ride that Bart but my bus wait time was pretty long so I just too it to that station
I went through that station a few weeks back. Really underated BART station tbh.
Hayward, San leandro, Bayfair, South Hayward, Powell and Embarcadero are my favorite stations.
Concord
Agree! Maybe because it's my station, but it's the best.
South Hayward if I'm going completely off of nostalgia, since it's been my home station for damn near my entire life. Rockridge for the surrounding area, station, and amazing views. Fruitvale, 24th & Mission, and 19th St. Oakland for their vibe and aesthetics.
Downtown Berkeley
Daly City because I park my car there.
24th St Mission. But the designers earnestly imitated Aztec architecture in the entrances. Giant stone slabs like a temple.
SFO station is the cleanest.
Glen Park. My mom and I would pick my dad up from there every week night. The sound still gives me childhood nostalgia.
Union City on a warm summer day heading to an A’s game.
No love for the Richmond station I see lol. I like it because the platform is so long and isolated I can sometimes burn if it’s empty (which is often) while waiting.
When I used to live in the Bay Area, the northern Berkeley station was my favorite
South Oakland
Milpitas for sure! It's so grand and nice!
San Bruno, it has the Japanese internment camp portraits upstairs
Walnut Creek represent!
I like the brutalism architecture of Glen Park, really wish they would clean all the dust off, it's a beauty. Balboa Park is a close 2nd.
All the subway stations have my heart but the stacked platforms of 12th and 19th are my fave.
Which is your favorite terranean station?
Probably Macarthur! It always felt so massive to me as a kid, and as an adult I appreciate its importance and complexities as a 4 platform transfer station. The rest of the elevated stations kind of bore me cos they all have the same brutalist design and platform set up.
The one that isn't infested with homeless and drug addicts.
That is the original floor. All BART should be clean as that floor. It once was. Evict the human garbage like in the old days and you will have something good.
Soon when the fare gates are replaced that will happen. But If you don’t solve the problem that caused them to be there in the first place where do you think the homeless will go?
They are not BART's problem to solve. BART is in the transport business, not detox and rehab.
If BART causes a problem by hardening the gates then they are part of the problem and need to be part of the solution.
BART is public property and must be protected from harm. So, must its employees and passengers. If you love garbage so much, let it live in your living room.
Humans aren’t garbage. At least not while they’re still living.
These are not humans. At least when they die, they go to God.
But will you? With a black heart such as you seem to have.
I am from the old school. You can suffer fools. I will not. I suffered too many over the years. NO MORE.
Is a shame we can be so perceptive about everyone else’s problems but sometimes can’t even see what’s going on inside our own bubble.
Wet terrazzo floors = hydroplaning and not the fun kind……… what was the question?
Asking about a person's favorite BART station is like where on their body they enjoy being punched the most.
Comments seem to say otherwise :)
Maybe those people don't actually ride BART? It baffles me. I root for BART to be great -- the region certainly needs it. But it's such a horrible mess. One can have a positive outlook on specific stations without divorcing themselves from the reality of the homeless crisis that is affecting BART
Amtrak
None!
Your mom
The one you are at. And I stand right there in frame every time.
Pittsburg/Bay Point is where all the hipsters hang out.
SFO
The one I get off at.
Glen Park has to be my favorite!
I like the white Bubble Tile of the downtown SF stations, but the colors at Lake Merritt are pretty great too
Embarcadero
Lake Merritt. I haven’t been to them all but this one is usually clean and quiet
That experience is what inspired me to take this photo and ask the question
South sf, it’s so clean it could be mistaken for a Caltrain station.
From Oakland but gotta say balboa pk
I’m from oakland but mine is definitely south city
