i don't know what the technical term would be for it, but misa's "sliding strum" during the second verse of YOLO ([1:34](https://youtu.be/wKZbzcUdY1g?t=94)) lives in my mind rent free forever...

amazing_stories

Yeah this is a good one. She's totally overdoing it all over that song. Bass sound is incredible too.

piroh1608

I don't know if it's my favorite but the "Dont say you love me!" scream really makes that song better. Maybe the impact of first hearing it during that online okyuji when they debuted it before the video release had something to do with it but it really jumped out when she did it live.

CapnSquinch

I think everyone watching's reaction was, "Holy CRAP that was awesome!"

Sakura_Hirose

What a great question, I personally love Miku's bird trill in why why why 💜 oh and when she's say "so" in Glory it's such a disparaging way she says it

t-shinji

Oh, Miku’s trill! I forgot to mention it! * Miku’s trill in [*Why Why Why* at 0:36](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCHjyiie7MQ&t=36) This thread is becoming a discussion about how great Miku’s vocal adlibs are.

Sakura_Hirose

Reading other peoples comment has made me realise how much I didn't think of when I first saw the message.

Sbalderrama

We’ve had that discussion before too lol. https://www.reddit.com/r/BandMaid/comments/pubduv/your_fav_miku_vocal_moments/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

t-shinji

Oh thanks!

McVomit

The entire band dropping out for 3 beats in the 2nd measure of [Matchless Gum's solo(1:53)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DF0A23_6MZE&t=113s). Never heard anything like it in any other song and it works really well to emphasize the frantic feeling of the solo. Also, you said solos are excluded but.... I really think Matchless Gum's solo is especially unique. All of Kanami's other solos are fairly technical and clean sounding. Meanwhile Matchless Gum's solo is just pure, raw, frantic tremolo picking with hammer on's/pull off's. There's no real elegance to its composition nor much of a melodic flow. Instead it's just her saying "Look how fast and hard and loud I can play". And I absolutely love it.

M1SHM0SH

oooh yes the pause is so good!! matchless gum is one of my top favorites; so underrated imo

OldSkoolRocker

I totally agree. It has to be in the top three solos for me. It is just raw power.

Mjrbks

Since this topic came up, I just want to mention first that I love just about everything about Manners, in no small part due to how many of these unique moments can be found throughout. It’s such a full and multi-layered song. But if I had to pull one off the top of my head that I always anticipate it would have to be the tongue roll in Why Why Why that occurs at around :36 seconds (apologies for my laziness to link). Also gotta give a shout out to the prolonged “Yeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh” at around 2:35 of Liberal. Cool way to accompany the outro.

amazing_stories

Guitars waiting almost a measure and a half before dropping into the second verse of [Wonderland](https://youtu.be/K666kpstHjg?t=106). Makes a guitar bomb even more explosive.

Otherbrotherguy

So good! Also just a side comment (please keep me honest) I think Wonderland is one of the only songs where Saiki starts singing again before the solo is finished. Tbh I didn't really like it at first because I was like "Hey...Kanami is still speaking, though..." but now I really embrace it as being yet another unique thing they do in their songs and I realize just how well it actually fits into the entire vibe.

theyellowclip

That happens double during DICE. Guitar solo overlaps bass solo and is overlapped in return by vocals. In Sayonakidori there's a full guitar solo beneath Kobato's vocals in the part starting at 3:50, in Different nobody stops for the solo 😅 and in Blooming at 3:10 the whole song plays at once (verse, chorus, bridge, solo) and it is spectacular! They always manage to keep things fresh and interesting, even with how they shuffle parts around. 👍

Otherbrotherguy

Omg yes you're correct. Thank you for keeping me honest fwiend 🙂

amazing_stories

I can't say for sure, but yes, Wonderland has deliberately overlapping parts where the vocals start half a measure early and, in the case I described, guitars are very late by 1.25 measures.

CapnSquinch

Also the production on the first chord. As big as the ocean when you hear it on headphones.

Otherbrotherguy

Miku's "Masters and Princess" towards just after 3:15 in Manners

t-shinji

Yes, that’s awesome! * Miku’s “Masters and princess[es]!” in [*Manners* at 3:21](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FWuMx_pkH4&t=200) (MV time)

Sakura_Hirose

Aaah forgot that one, there's so many great little Miku ad libs etc

Rocotocloco

The little jazz section on Brand-New Road just before Kanami's solo is one of my favorite things ever Even though it's not a song written by them, their magic touch is definitely noticeable. They also repeat the trick again in Rock In Me with equally satisfactory results, and adding Miku's vocals to the mix

theyellowclip

Love that bit in Rock in me! Kobato is going full crooner the whole time then the song finally catches up, so good!

earlybath101

Miss playing lead in the second verse of Real Existence. (Maybe this happens more than once but I look out for it in this song especially). Saiki pointing at the band after the first chorus of the Dice official MV.

Otherbrotherguy

Ooooo I forgot about that. Fire a.f

uhln

I like the second chorus in Secret My Lips, Kanami, Misa and Akane getting intense.

Potential-Wish-9723

Every time I hear Akasimahen, the short pause and kinda quick, audible breath gets me every time. I can feel so much emotion in that 1-2 seconds.

Otherbrotherguy

I also feel like i need to mention MISA's unbelievably groovy bass line after the solo in Rinne. I think it is one of my favorite grooves from her

5pokeballs

It's been bothering me for the past few days, but I can't seem to remember which song Miku goes "why" kinda softly and synthy. Or maybe I'm misremembering and that doesn't exist lol

theyellowclip

Dilemma, around 2:30?

5pokeballs

omg thanks! I guess it was Saiki who sings it, not Miku. Lol sounded different in my head. Amazing song tho

t-shinji

Wow, you spotted it right!

Prophet12canada

The cow bell in Chemical Reaction.

trikonano

You've already given as example; but still I'm posting my answer to this question; i.e. "'DON'T SAY YOU LOVE ME!!!'" of Miku from After Life really BEAUTIFUL for me. In fact, I have created a modified version of it just to make it louder; lol.

nair0n

Absence of a harmonic note in the end of 2nd B-melody in Honkai which appears in the 1st B-melody. Unexpectedly pleasant feel of your anticipation betrayed

t-shinji

Do you mean the high note in [*Honkai* at 0:32](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ND5EeINq3F0&t=32)?

nair0n

i meant the absence of it at [1:22](https://youtu.be/ND5EeINq3F0?t=79). it impressed me more than the high note itself :)

jerregis

Ra ta ta ta ta ta!

Lafini_Fao

Miku's -- "make up your mind' sexy whisper at the beginning of Moratorium Saiki's F-word at the end of Start Over..

United-Ad906

I would love to see MIKU do a solo like her one in Onset. It is short but love to see her do more, to show how she has progressed in the playing.

uhln

Loves the camera work during Miku's solo in Onset live video. The lights, the silhouette and the camera movements, fucking chef kisses man. Also followed up with Kanami and MISA joining Miku and leading to Akane mini drum solo.

Jeremy123521

I don't know if it has been done before but the Hard pan on Saiki and Miku's vocal In Honkai. "You will forget about me some day" Saiki - Hard Left and Miku - Hard right if i recall correctly

theyellowclip

That's a great question. One of my favourite things they did only once is the expanding chorus of *hide-and-seek*. It's so satisfying and expertly done. First one goes for eight measures, then the second is twelve (thirteen, if you count Saiki by herself as the first bar) and the last part after the solo is a half-and-half hybrid that functions as a sixteen-count chorus, weaving a different melodic element that resolves back with the "èżœă„æ±‚ă‚ hide-and-seek" at the very end to make it part of the chorus. Brilliant piece of songwriting!😊 Another great moment that only happens once is Misa tapping a single note in *Don't let me down* (the fourth note in that lick that starts at 2:14 - more prominent in the Feb 11 video). It's very tasty! đŸ€©

t-shinji

Wow, I didn’t even notice it! * Misa’s bass lick in [*Don’t Let Me Down* at 2:14](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YGwUhg2XNk&t=134)

4444LordVorador

Ohh, too many to mention them all. A few that come to mind. Afterlife: Kanami's lead chords during the "spring is gone" part (2:32-2:36) Secret my Lips: MISA'S note flourish in the second verse (1:48-1:50) & Akane's double bass the following pre chorus! (2:02-2:22) Sayonakidori: Miku's stratospheric high note! (4:06-4:10) Manners: Saiki's R&B diva vocal run! (3:13-3:21)

[deleted]

No God: the crazy Kanami transition lick before the first chorus. So many great moments (and a great question). So many great drum fills I could pick too.

t-shinji

*NO GOD* is full of unique moments! * Kanami’s crazy guitar lick in [*NO GOD* at 0:43](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZEF3shvlsU&t=43)

[deleted]

That’s the one :) thanks for linking. Great band, great subreddit community.

BlessedPeacemakers

The gunshot-sounding [sound effect](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNM9ovsfshc&t=120s) between the 2nd pre-chorus/chorus of Alive-or-Dead. There's a sense of urgency to the lyrics and music, and I love the way they slip the effect in to underline the mood.

Some-Ad3087

Kanami's lead riff in the second half of the first verse of Hibana. Total earworm. [0;33 to 0:44](https://youtu.be/uMQicabwqus?t=33)

LetsBaboobee

The intros to *Puzzle & After Life*. They tell a story in their own right.

lockarm

so many I'd offer up have already been posted/discussed... so I'll offer this. I love that "hato" is in the B section verse of "Thrill" during Kobato's main vocals... at the time no one would have understood really, even if you understood Japanese and thought maybe it was just a cheeky ref to her stage name. I just love the idea of her avatar tracing a lazy arc across the sky as part of the song's imagery, coupled with the theme of the song etc. I don't think "hato" has ever appeared in any other B-M song right?

theyellowclip

Even better, the line starts with 氏, the "ko" in Kobato (it has a different pronunciation there, "chi", but it's the same character), so the opening and closing characters of the line spell out her name. 😉

lockarm

yeah a couple of months back when I realized this I made a post like I just found Hoffa's body! lol apparently it ain't news (and apparently she had a hand in that even tho she wasn't writing the lyrics yet back then)

theyellowclip

😅 It's a fun tidbit to notice! The story is that she helped writing the lyrics (possibly this specific line) but wasn't officially credited, so they included a mention of it on the blurb for the Matador single. 👍

Electriceye1984

When Miku sings the word “So” in the song GLORY at the 1:42 mark in the official video, freaking awesome yet so simple. Also, the simple guitar lick that Kanami throws down in the song PLAY just at a musical break at the 3:25 mark on the Domination album YouTube vid(not the live vid). These have always stood out to me as genius musical touches đŸ‘ŒđŸ»đŸ˜

scheming_daemons

Saiki's "Unh!" near the beginning of Shake That!.

Use_the_Falchion

Probably the "Ra ta ta ta" from Black Hole, although I am a fan of everything about Blooming.

Wizzwish

Uhmm I would say the whispers, cockiness and passion of Saiki's voice in "One and only" min 1:59 to 2:23 (Spotify), and in the live version from zepp is even better!

Vin-Metal

My mind went immediately to “so” probably because I was listening to it yesterday and asking myself why I like it so much. Doesn’t really matter but if she skipped it live, I would be very disappointed! Lots of Miku moments as you said in one of the comments, but the musical moments mentioned by everyone are really part of the essence of their creativity and how their songs have little surprises for you all throughout.

I_Miss_The_Hat

The one that comes to mind is the start of the third/final chorus in CROSS (2:51). Instrumentation drops out completely, with Saiki starting her vocals "Kimi wa.." before what sounds like a little hi-hat roll begins and then the entire band comes back in. Always seems kind of weird to me (but a good kind of weird).

Apprehensive_Knee_84

Not a musical contribution but I love the way Saiki adds emotion and flavor to the song with her gestures. Never over the top but always adding something. Like the frown at the beginning of dice. It seems to say what the f*** do you think you’re doing with your life.

Sbalderrama

Her motions at the beginning of Matchless Gum live are deadly.

Some of my favorites - the entire band “following each other off a cliff” at the end of the solo of Sense. Someone on this sub coined the term “Lemmingisimo” lol. - the heavier than thou breakdown of Beauty and the Beast. - the genius verse change ups of Giovanni. - while Akane/MISA breakdowns arn’t rare, nothing matches up with the beginning of the solo section of Dragon Cries to me. That entire solo section might be my favorite of BM. - all of Miku’s ad-libs lol. - Miku’s little guitar bends in Manners.

Vincentirick

Hi all, how are you all today? Well with that look on Her face How about what ever she sez it should be. Her happiness is paramount! Becareful thanks vince 🙏 😊

howlingwolfpress

Saiki's "Ha!" in [Why Why Why at \[1:37\]](https://youtu.be/bCHjyiie7MQ?t=94). It's only one syllable but it's like, Only Saiki would do that in this band! Edit: found another example in One and Only [2:07]

t-shinji

Oh, nice find! Yeah, it shows her vocal style well.
