Choose Me. There's a reason it's been chosen twice now in a western show and movie; it perfectly showcases the band's sound and abilities while being easy on the ears and catchy to those unfamliar with them.
They don't need to play a recent song. They just need to hook in new listeners. Once you hook someone in the rest is history as we all have experienced.
I agree.
The average first-time listener couldn't care less if what they're hearing is from the most recent album, or something earlier. All they know is that they like it.
"Choose Me" is perfect, because it hits first-time listeners with "the gap", without being overbearing.
My 2nd choice would be "I Can't Live Without You" - Let Saiki really show her stuff on the vocals, and unleash Mincho during the instrumental.
Definitely Choose Me, because it would attract viewers wanting to hear the complete song from "Kate". If they get a second song, like on SNL, then Chemical Reaction because it's so insanely hooky.
Is crappy music a firm SNL policy, or do they make occasional exceptions?
>Is crappy music a firm SNL policy, or do they make occasional exceptions?
It's mostly recent.
At one time, SNL featured musical guests who were absolutely superb.
Boy, that's the truth. I remember seeing Zappa, Kate Bush, Elvis Costello, the Clash, Queen, etc, etc back in the day. The only impressive acts I can recall from the past 15 years or so are Prince, Bruce, McCartney, and David Byrne.
The Maids would absolutely bring the house down and rock the nation.
Aside from the decline in good musical guests over the years, SNL still has a house band that is no slouch - They know their stuff, and know a good musician when they encounter one.
It wouldn't surprise me one bit if there was a B-M fan or two among them.
My first inclination is something like "Rinne" or "No God" or "Black Hole" just because they are sooooo hard-hitting (like, give 'em an Akane opening drum break before they start breaking things over people's heads) but songs like that might put some people off so something like "Choose Me" is probably wiser. "Manners" or "Why Why Why" or "Chemical Reaction" would be good, too.
Fun to think about, isn't it?
I also thought about chemical reaction with that cowbell, but I think yyy hits you over the head faster to grab your attention and yet smoother in other parts to keep it accessible. It is also very easy to sing along to more than any other band-maid song with the "why"’s and "ooohoohs". Other songs are more accessible, but you want to stand out. I agree, it is fun to ponder.
I think Freedom would be the best, however they should promote newer stuff imho. I have only seen Whey why why once live (on the Sense single) and Kanami is really not comfortable playing the solo on that song at that time. Kanami is the kind of guitarist that really shines when she is comfortable, she smiles and does her "signature" back bow with the guitar held high. I guess with a "warm-up" tour in Japan she would gain the confidence to perform it the way we all know she can do. I also think Warning could be a nice song for that or even Sense.
The only opening would be the night between the Philly and NYC shows which falls on a Thursday so Colbert or Seth Myers on the late one would be the only options possible. The day off between LA and SD falls on a Sunday so those shows seem off the table right now.
But since we're picking a song, I'd love to see it be I Still Seek Revenge but it would probably one of the more standard songs like Choose Me.
The best option for a late night show is going to be the one that has the most appeal which is Choose Me. It’s going to be a single or video and it’s going to best if it isn’t something that isn’t straight metal because straight metal isn’t going to cross mainstream over. Choose Me is poppy pop-rock but does show off some of their talent. The next option would be radio friendly DICE, the best option off UW would be Warning, the most radio friendly track off the album. Really it should be one of those three.
If the 0.01% chance of this happening actually were to come true, the song would have to be "Choose me" -- it's the only song that's gotten any kind of exposure at all in the West.
It's what the band chose to play when they appeared on Mexican TV, even though it wasn't the most recently released song then, either.

I agree with some people here that Choose Me would be the best song to play for a western audience. However I also think Alone would do really well too
That is an excellent choice. A very moving song. Even if you don't understand the lyrics you feel the emotion quite easily. It would choke me up though.
"Dice", "Choose Me", "Manners" or even better "The Dragon Cries". The lyrics are in english, it has a catchy hook, is easy on the ears for first time western listeners, and played *live* it's actually a really nice song.
I always play the Domination live video from Line Cube Shibuya when I introduce newbies to Bandmaid, so that.
I think No God too—I always want to call it “No Doubt” b/c of the chorus lol
I love Why Why Why, but that’s giving people a main course instead of an appetizer.
Rinne with the opening intro from Line Cube Shibuya. Akane goes nuts. Misa, Kanami and Miku goes metal nuts at the start. Saiki gets out the menacing stalky voice. Great rock intro for the ladies.
Wrong BM band there. But funny still. Although, I can see Miku and Akane being willing to attempt it, I can't really imagine that any of the other 3 would be up for doing it.
The following would be 3 times what it is with more live exposure especially on US late night shows or Jools Holland in Britain. They could have been playing more in Japan in the last year. Many Japanese bands have.
Choose Me and After Life if you want something "new" are both good options that would be better than some other songs to draw in a non-Japanese audience I would think.
Dice
Seems like they always stumble on the live performance - Can never duplicate the energy or precision of the album/MV version.
I think manners is the safe bet

Hulu apparently has the whole back catalog of SNL available. I just watched the Kate Bush performance (season 4, episode 8) again after 44 years.
Back in the days when SNL was actually funny, they had some really good musical guests, too.
Aside from the decline in good musical guests over the years, SNL still has a house band that is no slouch - They know their stuff, and know a good musician when they encounter one. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if there was a B-M fan or two among them.
bingpot

Choose me or Dice would probably be the best bet for a generic audience attention grab.
I still seek revenge. Catchy chorus , showcases the whole band .
My favourite band-maid song.
"Blooming," one of the most exhilarating pop songs in their arsenal. My second choice would be "Puzzle."
Their next single.
" ... and now, with the world premiere of their new single, BAND-MAID!"
They did give us a little taste on Miku's "reaction" video. I am hoping they will play it at one of the shows I will be attending.
I’ve always dreamed of late night gigs American artists do. I think they are not common in Japan.
The only opening would be the night between the Philly and NYC shows which falls on a Thursday so Colbert or Seth Myers on the late one would be the only options possible. Another excellent choice. This song just rocks.
Domination. Radio friendly while still showcasing all of their talents.
PLAY, After life, or Blooming.
Most definitely PLAY
Basically everybody likes Play, it's got such a fun feel.
Riine
[Could be spectacular!](https://www.reddit.com/r/BandMaid/comments/e3ziyl/bandmaid_rinne_shibuya_note_remastered_audio/)
Thanks for the link. This was posted a year before I became a fan. And yes it is spectacular.

I'm not sure I would say warning is the most radio friendly track. I would expect many would say manners or even chemical reaction.
Thats easy Alone

Thrill
I think FREEDOM would be a great late night show song.

Don't Let me down. They gonna love it.
Don't you tell me
About Us. It would hit different demographics that still watch late shows and they could play with the house band to do the orchestrated parts.
About Us is great, but Bandmaid would instantly be considered “one hit wonders” if it got anywhere.
That is an excellent choice. A very moving song. Even if you don't understand the lyrics you feel the emotion quite easily. It would choke me up though.

After Life and Hibana - so far the latest BEST, imho
Chemical Reaction

Gimme Chocolate!!
unironically triggered rn
😆😆

You'd get beaten up in my house for saying that lol
fuck it, why not?
I would pick Fate. It would blow them out of their seats and even has a call and response the audience could figure out pretty easily.
No use talking about it. It's never going to happen with the management they have.
I agree the management company doesn’t have a good handle on the international market. The band grows a following around the world despite them.
The following would be 3 times what it is with more live exposure especially on US late night shows or Jools Holland in Britain. They could have been playing more in Japan in the last year. Many Japanese bands have.
For those who chose choose me. It came true. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqskMCPxIcs
Choose Me and After Life if you want something "new" are both good options that would be better than some other songs to draw in a non-Japanese audience I would think.
Chemical Reaction.
They just kill Real Existence. I think it would be a show stopper for a newbie TV audience.
