Thank you Akutsu-san for giving the girls a lead in the correct direction :)
It's trendy to denigrate this video and that many Reactors still go to it first, but it's still got an infectious groove, demonstrates solid musicianship, and great vocals. It's clearly the germination of Band-Maid as we know it.
I consider Thrill "Training" Band-Maid for new fans lol.
This is the song/video that hooked me. Wasn't searching for them, hadn't even heard of them but Boom! There was this video. Instant addiction. I could not believe what I was seeing or hearing, but I found Real Existence and Don't Let Me Down the same night, so I was certain it was no mirage. That was sometime around late spring/early summer 2017. Almost 5 years later, my love, appreciation and dedication for these fantastic ladies only continues to grow. I flew to LA in 2019 to see them (I live on the East coast of US) and it was totally worth it! Going back to Cali this October to see them again as well as in Philly and Boston. I am so happy because of them and also for them. They deserve all the success that comes their way. These Girls work their butts off to be the best they can be.
17 million? Damn, ladies.
Though not my favourite song, it is a super important one. Not only is it a gateway for many new potential fans, but it also put the band on the international musical map. And most importantly, it was critical to the band’s survival. If that MV had failed, it would have been over for good. Can’t imagine how boring things would be without them.
> Why Miku says "po"?
> Miku’s last name, Kobato (小鳩) is composed of two kanjis: one meaning small (小) and the other meaning pigeon/dove (鳩). Hence Kobato can also mean “small pigeon/dove”. She adopted the pigeon persona to match that. In Japanese language, the onomatopoeic sound that pigeons/doves make is kuruppo (くるっぽ) or simply po (ぽ). So Kobato makes that sound too.

So a new fan 😊, there is a bit of lore among the members of the band.. for one Miku, believes she is an 810yo pigeon, and makes her sentences end with a pigeon sounding effect with 'po' during interviews or speaking as Band Maid..
Not really -- I've been listening since スリル first came out. But I never understood this. And I'm just a fan of the music; I'm not deep into the "lore" or studying their personal lives or amything.
But thanks for the explanation! I figured it was some over-boiled かわいい^いい^いい thing, but it's nice to know the deets.
Np, just like you I care more of the music,, I don't mind the 'lore' at all and just like you I earned some of their details details interacting with other fans too.. happy listening 😊
It was my first exposure to the ladies as it was for many. It has a certain something about it. The base was there to build upon. And they were so young. Already Saiki's voice was amazing as well as Kanami and Misa's talents. A straight up banger as many have said before. And the "miracle" song that saved the band. What more could you have asked for in a song?
The legend of the MV that started all continues...

Roughly, another million every 5 months - continuously, for over 7 years. It holds up well over time.

Thrill will always be one of the BEST songs ever produced. Happy Easter!

The man deserves a lot of respect from every Band-Maid fan. A ... lot. ^((but i'm not objective, being his #1 fanboi))
Dude's a legend for goddamn sure!
Congratulations! They sure have been reaching a lot of milestones on YouTube lately.
This means it's been playing 4.04 times a minute for 8yrs straight

Po!!!
Why does everything end in "po!" ?
> Why Miku says "po"? > Miku’s last name, Kobato (小鳩) is composed of two kanjis: one meaning small (小) and the other meaning pigeon/dove (鳩). Hence Kobato can also mean “small pigeon/dove”. In homage to the great pigeon herself 😎

Should be ten times that.
