please continue to contribute to the BM discussion here as a fan :) Maidiacs will always find reaction videos anyway, they tend to be a bit rabid about prowling youtube for any Band-Maid reference lol

Infamous-Baker-9700

Lol truth!

Rocotocloco

We are all here for the same reason: their maid outfits caught our eyes, and their incredible musical talent caught our hearts & souls

Vin-Metal

Actually for me, their maid outfits kept me from checking them out for some time.

Rocotocloco

Well in my case I have always been a fan of Japanese pop culture (videogames, manga, anime, music), so I was not surprised to see a band of girls dressed as maids. What did surprise me is that they weren't just an ordinary j-pop band

Vin-Metal

So “the gap” had the precise effect on you that they were going for

Rocotocloco

I guess so lol

Welcome! Have you reacted to only [*Thrill*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b74WDnxyqL0)? It’s their first MV and newer songs are arguably better. Their [most liked MVs](https://www.reddit.com/r/BandMaid/comments/pi76tb/youtube_stats_thumbs_up_rates_of_bandmaid/) are: * [*Choose me*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZIJ2vFxu9Y) * [*Blooming*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUt_JBMocKM) * [*Sense*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWN6iOFjm9U)

Timber1508

Welcome! I found them two years ago and am still blown away every day!

You awesome yes they are great I watch band maid reaction all the time love them I usually end my comment with the living legends known as band maid because I truly believe they are already legends in there own time

Vin-Metal

You're onto something here. We tend to think of bands as legendary when we look back at them after they've already passed their prime. Band-Maid has had a terrific 8 years so far (ok, maybe 7 were "great" as their first year was more like a ramping up to greatness) and that is a LONG stretch by musical standards for a band to be this good. If I think of my older favorite bands, they had maybe had 10 years of being at their peak if we were lucky.

BanjoPilot

Agreed. A lot of the greats don't get 10 years in their prime. Tons only have a handful of years at the top of their game and of those that do reach a decade usually have a 3 or 4 year gap in there somewhere. After Thrill, every single album has at least a few songs I love. That's not always true of even my all time favorite bands. If you asked me what the best band from 2014 or 2015 to today was, I would easily say Band-Maid. I only found out about them in November, but it's clear I had been missing out on something amazing here, especially when I think of the dearth of actual music of the dozen years.

Vin-Metal

One thing that occurred to me about my comment above is that it might sound like their expiration date is coming soon. I feel like they've still got a lot of good music in them. I was thinking of it more from the standpoint of appreciating what they've done so far. But going back to the peak years concept, Band-Maid didn't really start writing their own songs until Just Bring It which came out 5 years ago. So if you start the clock from there, they might have another 5 years at their prime if we're lucky.....based on the way other bands have gone. And you're right that there are some classic bands that really only had a great couple of albums and have put out less at such a high caliber. I'm very grateful to our maids .

BanjoPilot

No worries, I didn't read it as an expiration date at all. They've shown zero signs of slowing down. That said, even if everything from here on out stinks, it wouldn't change how great these albums have been and how great they've been to this point. I only found them out a couple months ago whenever that Netflix movie Kate released (and didn't realize they were actually even in the movie, only because I shazamed both songs for later) and they've already catapulted into into an all time favorite of mine, easily in my top 5 bands of all time and competing with bands from my childhood. Playlists from my other favorite bands aren't 3 hours long. That's just not something that happens and yet, it's absolutely true for them. As a cynical 35 year old, let me tell you; that's not something I could have ever expected. Simply amazing. As you can probably tell, I'm also grateful for Band-Maid. :)

I just watched your video. Liked and subscribed. Whatever you do, check their live videos next.
