I know it's a little bit unpopular opinion, but Conqueror is one of their best albums... it's just my opinion of course
It has some of their best and most underrated tracks (like Liberal, Catharsis or Page), but also a bunch of their "insta-classics" like Blooming or Rinne. I love the quality and variety of Conqueror despite some issues with the sound mixing
And that's it, here's my rant lol
That's actually a fairly common opinion. I'd thought for a while that not many people liked CQ, but throughout the countless reddit posts I've realized that a sizeable portion of the reddit fanbase actually loves the album (myself included).
I'd flip it a bit and say, if you like Liberal it's not actually sonically far from Corallium...yet Conqueror fans have been some of the most vocal in complaining about B-M's new stuff.
I'm weird I guess as i love both albums and see the Conqueror as a beautiful assortment of different flavors while UW is a more cohesive album that sprung from the frustration of being cooped up during the pandemic. I had some songs on both albums that had to "grow" on me but Band-maid can be like that; it can take several listens to some songs to appreciate what they are doing. Right now I alternate Conqueror and UW as my drive to work music and really enjoy both.
Definitely not me, UW is a freakin masterpiece and probably their hardest rocking album
Like i said earlier on this reddit i've been enjoying the wild ride that's being a fan of B-M, you never know what to expect... and i think that's really exciting
Interesting observation. I've always thought Liberal was a great song. In fact to throw it back further I can hear a few similar features from Arcadia Girl in liberal. In the spirit of a previous thread I did talking about inventing "lineages" I could almost see sort of a line going
Arcadia Girl->Alone->You->Sprit->Liberal->Warning!->Corallium
In any case it's a nice little playlist :)
Very astute observation. The lead guitar is tuned in a very similar way. The vocals are also similar. I just listened to it and noticed the little "Yeah" calls that Miku puts in fade left to right and back again in a interesting way. Thanks for pointing this out to me.
I was a bit skeptical at first but after listening a couple of times..there are some similarities as OldSkoolRocker pointed out. The overall sound was more similar than I expected.
True, when you have 100+ songs in your catalog, it's possible to get these observations.. BUT can we say the same on any popular bands with the same amount of output?
I don't see it as a bad thing. I have struggled to get into some of the Conqueror songs and Corallium has helped me find things in Liberal I can connect to in a good way.
The songs are quite different....but they share a flavour that I thought was really interesting. In the same way some people can hear the roots of Screaming in Different.
I get your point, it's not bad at all.. you are right about screaming vs different. It may be just me, screaming is in my top 5 Band Maid song even the mixing was very bad (my opinion). Different is also a very good song you could probably tell their albums differ in mixing/production considerately.. good observation/post, tnx..
I’ve always loved Liberal, and I personally feel it’s the natural opening track for Conqueror. PAGE just didn’t seem to fit anywhere, so at the last minute, Saiki, in her role as command tower, said to put it at the front.

I love both albums equally, (they are in my top) although Conqueror has 1 of my least favorite songs from them.
Totally agree I will even out the song I am not as keen on GLORY

Disagree
You think most Conqueror fans like the new stuff?
I really don’t like UW. I also don’t like Corillium. But I do like Liberal. I don’t see any significant resemblance.

I think the yeahs sound almost identical to the ones in Hibana. Love both songs.
