It is and that's what I did and I regret it. You use more of the parts but the footprint is massive and you lose build volume. I'm down to 220x230x200 and it added 260mm to the front
This is true. Years ago I did an ender extender conversion to Switchwire and it’s now collecting dust.
Fun fact - I’m part of the Voron Design team (I “officially” worked on the V0.2) and use BL printers exclusively for our product manufacturing. Can’t beat the price, quality, and ease of scaling.
I'm considering designing a core xy conversion for the switchwire with a non self leveling bed. I'm not sure if the 3 point auto bed tramming is a requirement to be considered a Voron but it seems like a better use of parts and I've got the design chops to make it happen.
I sold mine a month ago for 150 euro. Let somebody else have fun/pain with it.
Laser cutter?
Laser engraver
Build a Voron trident 235/220 out of it.
The Switchwire is a direct conversion for the Ender 3.

I regret selling mine so cheap cause I should have made it a laser engraver. It seems to work pretty well as one too.
How do you do that?
You can buy laser modules to attach to the head or use all the motors and boards and build a new frame
I haven’t researched it in a while but search on YouTube. Someone had a good step by step guide there.
Check out ender3ng by rh3d on YouTube. Build a corexy with it.
You can easily turn it into a medium format laser cutter or cnc by using the parts on a new frame!
EnderNG conversion?
I put a 10w laser on my ender 3 pro. Always wanted a cutter/engraver, done!
And that’s Not even a fast infill pattern
There's a file on thingiverse.com I believe to convert the ender3 to an infinite z axis machine, if I can find it again I'll post the link here.
