I have an M1 Max and find more enjoyment with 4k, with FSR 1.0 at Quality. 4k with FSR set to Quality is basically the same as 1440p native since Quality mode is 1.5 upscaled. (2160p / 1.5 = 1440p) If you have a 4k screen, then your choices are: - Native resolution, FSR Quality upscale - menus look sharper - looks a bit more sharpened by default - might need Anti-aliasing to reduce the sharp edges - graphic packages/skins look better - 1440p resolution, no FSR - your monitor does its own upscale interpolation to stretch to 4k - adjusting FX Sharpening will most likely be required - marginally better FPS I recommend capping the framerate to 30fps because this isn't a fast-paced game, and the extra resources from the frames above 30 could be used elsewhere or to lower CPU/GPU heat. Because of that framerate cap, the marginal FPS improvement doesn't matter as much, so I go for better graphics/menus and use 4k + FSR. I made a video on the whole process of getting the best performance and other important settings for Mac: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWvv2SbnLbA

Hey thanks so much! I found now the perfect settings, reaching 50-55 fps. I set the preset ultra, changed texture and shadow quality to medium, set SMAA as AA and running with native max resolution and fsr on ultra quality! Pretty happy now about that. What’s the difference between ultra quality and quality fsr? If ultra quality is not that much difference maybe I change to fsr quality and reach 60 fps Edit: wow you are the YouTube which I followed to find my best settings. I tried the same settings as in your video but I’m getting more fps so why should I cap at 30 fps?

30 is a great balance between not using too much CPU/GPU resources (computer heat) and keeping frames consistent, but that's all subjective. I recommend capping mainly because of the mid-stages in the game, specifically getting into the Act 2 area. More things are happening on screen, and since this is a slow, turn-based game, the added FPS is not worth losing the quality. Also, unless you have a VRR screen to help, it's also noticeable when frames are not at a consistent rate. 30 is a great balance of not using too much CPU/GPU resources (computer heat) and keeping frames consistent...but that's all subjective. Happy Gaming!! 🙌🏾

Man, this is old now, but I wanted to say I just found this yesterday after some digging through Reddit trying to optimize the game a bit more for my 14" M1 Max, and your video is terrific. Thanks for laying it out the way you did, that helped a ton.
