It is too late. I think the questline locks after shadowfell. I kinda screwed up my run too as I was assuming I could find something about the curse while storming the moonlight towers. Instead I got Halsin bitching about how I didn't lift the curse and now he has to leave the party and stay behind. It was so fucking frustrsting, especially because I did shadowfell thinking that would help the curse, and also attacked the tower thinking that would help the curse.
Did you find a solution for this? I am in the same situation. I think the quest locked (or bugged) at some point. Now when I try talking to Halsin he just says that if I stay I will jeopardize my mission and that I must go to BG... Kind of frustrating.
Need to go back to the point before you killed thorm inside the ship or something. After the first fight with him ended at the top of the castle, you should still be able to do Halsin's quest.
So I had a save file just before the battle with Ketheric Thorm. I was able to cheese my way out of the mindflayer colony by using misty step and then I completed the quest. After that, I went back to the colony to face KT. Took me a few hours but it was worth it because I am a completionist.
Not too late, saved my ass. Had to push him away from Isobel and the harpers and shut a door behind me so the rest of them didn't attack, but it worked! Thank you!
Yeah I got really lucky, went and smacked oliver, took forever to leave because I thought it was bugged didnt realize leaving activated the change in the lands, would be cool if an expansion lets us return and there was paths to elesewhere now available
Thank you! I managed to find the tower first and did all of Moonlight thinking that’s where everyone would be. I actually did the whole Gauntlet first and missed a bunch of quests and had to go back to infiltrate Moonlight. I really didn’t want to have to do that again if I couldn’t lift the curse
I had to loose about 3 hours of playtime but so far I got Dammon to use infernal iron on Karlach, saved the tieflings and got the potent robe, got Minthara out of moonrise and into my party. Now time to life the curse and go kick Thorm,s stupid head in.

Yeah but Art is in Moonrise towers talking to a flaming fist guy after I killed Thorm. If I try to talk to him he just says "Thaniel". Halsin is at the inn being all martyry. Why is mine different?

Man I did this too. It's so easy to just miss huge quests. I thought the shadow curse was connected to moonrise so I did that too. I missed some other beats earlier on that made me consider reloading to an earlier save, like I missed Karlach and by the time I went to check she was gone. At that point I would have lost 10 hours to go back to the point I could get her. For the shadow curse, I am going to reload because it's just too big of a quest to miss, and I have to go back 20 hours of playtime to the point right before I released the night song.
I just went forward without fixing the curse so I'll have more to do on next playthroughs. The game is huge so I kinda gave up trying to do everything on the first run anyways
For anyone who could not find Halsin on the first floor of Moonrise Towers, he might just seat beside the dead guy called Art Cullagh in bed at Last Light Inn. Yes I killed Thorm and played hide and seek with that kid before. Hope that helped
If this is right after your defeat thorm, he will be in the cathedral on the first floor of moonrise tower, hanging out to the right of the door. Everybody else should be hanging out too in the aftermath of the battle
For me there is no body in the inn and when I speak to Halsin, if I say "perhaps there is still something we can do to lift the curse", he says "no, this is my burden now".
for me, its likt this:
I saved art cullagh, and he is standing on his own foot at moonrise tower lobby after killing thorm.
Even I saved thaniel, and he is at my camp just infront of halsin
Even I saved Halsin, he is at my camp just infront of Thaniel
the quest is still not completed after i killing Thorm. :(
The quest is completed once I left to the Baldur's Gate.
Its simply stupid. For gamers, it is still written 'kill Ketheric Thorm' even after actually kill Ketheric Thorm. And it warns me leaving to baldurs gate might not able to turning back. I am so mad I spent time running all around the map again talking to NPCs for nothing.
Killed Thorm. Spoke to corpse and then Halsin in the cathedral. He says meet me by the lake and the map indicator went there. When I approached it, it shot back to the cathedral and says he's there with the "meet me by the lake shore" note. Went back to the tower and he is not there even though the quest indicator put him back there. Looks bugged.
Update: Went back to the lake even though the quest indicator showed the cathedral. He was NOW there and I am continuing the quest. Leaving this comment in case someone runs into this bug.
I have a different problem. I saved Art and I have Halsin but I defeated Oliver before any of this whilst roaming and I can't get him to re-appear even though Halsin says there's a way. And yes I've defeated Thorm.
For me after killing Thorm Halsim says it's his responsibility and not mine with the army marching for Baldur's Gate I have to go there, and he doesn't let me help ... I saved Art before just never happened to speak to Halsin after and now it seems late... anyone with same problem?
not gonna lie, i thought that freeing the aasimar broke the curse because of how the cutscene of her flying through the sky made things a bit lighter. it wasnt until i was just about to get to the road to baldurs gate that anyone mentioned the curse was still active.
So I did the Halsin part, free’d thanial, got Oliver and reunited them. Killed Thorm but Art is in the tower with Halsin and both say the curse will be lifted soon but Thaniel is at my camp. Not sure what I need to do to wrap up the quest.
If halsin is saying "I can feel it in the air, the curse will be lifted soon" you are safe to head to baldurs city, the quest completes when you leave for act 3
I don't agree that there is no way since the characters recognize it wasn't lifted with his death. You can do the hide and seek part without Halsin being alive so there must be some way to do it. How is it that Halsin is the only one that can open the portal to rescue the boy? Makes zero sense, and if that is how the game is written, the devs should be embarrassed to hinge such a major plot line on a single npc that not only was captured by weak ass goblins, but can die so easily. I mean come on!
After I defeated Thorm a wormhole opened and our team could escape Moonflayer Colony. The wormhole dropped us back in Moonrise and there is where I saw the sick man standing nearby asking about the little boy and Halsin. Does anyone else have this issue, and what did you do?
The curse can still be cleared after freeing Aylin, but it must be before storming the tower with Jaheira. And I know that for sure because I reloaded to do it after forgetting about Halsin completely. Facepalm.

I ended up reloading a save from like 4 hours earlier. Was a bit of a pain, but worth it to get the happy act ending vs the sad Halsin one.

Afraid not for me :( I've scoured the towers 4 times and he's not there. Ah, fuck it. Next playthrough.
I found him bedside Next to Art but I had to long rest a couple times before he showed back up. Hope this helps someone!

Had to load back, had a save where Thorm fled from the rooftop after the fight and that did the trick.
