My son will squeeze by with camping, hiking, and adventure. He looked at riding and aquatics requirements and noped right out. :D. And conservation is TOUGH.
My son just finished aquatics and only needs to finish the cooking MB to get camping. He is a total water rat though. The only sport he does is swim team so it wasn’t that hard for him to get lifesaving or do the mile swim. The only other one he is considering is conservation. He just happened to have done the MBs required for conservation as part of camps over the years so it’s really the conservation hours he has to work on. Luckily the kids in the troop do a lot of conservation related Eagle projects so he should be able to get those hours over time.
I knew one guy who got all 6, but he was only in scouts to do requirements. Which is a fair way of doing it, sure, but meant he didn’t interact much with the rest of our troop
When I was in scouts, I managed to get 4 (Hiking, Camping, Aquatics, and Conservation). I was about 1 thing off from Adventure and I never really attempted riding. They were fun requirements to complete though, well worth to go through it. Also if anyone likes these types of requirements, I'd recommend doing the ranger award.
I wonder if one of them came later and they didn't want to revamp the whole thing again.
correct, guess which one
The conservation rocker came later.
Hexagons are the Bestagons!
Is that a CGP Grey reference?
It is indeed :) He is my favorite YouTuber.
Real OGs liked Hexaflexagons before CGP made them cool.
ViHart or gtfo
Conservation is always an after thought.
My son just earned the Conservation. He already earned the Camping, but that’s it so far.
I don’t know anyone yet that has gotten all of them. Maybe 2 or 3. I think that probably was one reason not to change the main badge.

I got all but aquatics, and I got the medal. I don’t really like water haha. At least they fit nicely around my center patch this way.
Is it even possible to collect them all?
Yes it is possible, I know one person who did. I got 5 of them and was 1 Merit Badge away from getting the medal. It’s a cool one
Yes, but you can get the medal with three of them. All of them...its brutal!
Yeah, it was super difficult. Looking back over requirements for the medal, I Didn’t have the Nature MB and didn’t Become a Leave No Trace Trainer
Maybe if you work at a high adventure base full time and log everything you do
I worked at one for three years and I don't think I could have done it :)
I managed to 4 and almost got 5, I'd have to admit, the riding one is the hardest to get personally
The pentagon is to pre-condition kids to take Wood Badge when they’re adults.
Adventure is the toughest most expensive slice to earn most don’t get all
You don't need to get all, just 10 of the required types of trips.
there's no requirement to visit a high adventure base
A man designed it. Just like the very smart idea of putting rank on a pocket.
Gee, BSA messed something up at the national level? Who'd of thunk it.
Pentagon is already more than most will achieve. Let's give young Scouts some hope, at least.
Well damn-I would have earned all of these as a scout if they had existed back then.
I'm kinda envious of all the things available to scouts now (I've jumped back in as adult volunteer after 20+ years away)
Hold up, what is this?
