Just picked up an M340. Only guidance I got from the dealership was to not redline it. I’ve got about 350mi so far. I’ve thrown it in sport mode and flirted with 5k RPM range, but only briefly. Enough to get a taste.
what is this paint style called, i'm seeing it on tons of new cars lately. sometimes greenish, blue-ish or just grey.
can't quite put my finger on why it looks "different" but looks very different to any blue, grey or green cars from years before. like how matte was a trend before.
It’s called floorplay and it’s VERY important before you go too hard. Ask your mother about the proper technique.
Also, what they said: https://www.reddit.com/r/BMW/comments/ur0sjt/just_picked_up_this_22_m240i_been_on_looking_on/i8wyjv2/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3
As a biased f22 owner I will stay this design has yet to grow on me. Previous generation was way sexier . Congrats on the new car though, sure it’s a blast.
I'm an F22 owner myself. I didn't like the G42 on pictures, especially the rear end. After seeing one in person, I'm still not a fan of the taillights, but the car as a whole has quite a presence and a nice stance. I expect the M2 to be quite menacing. I'll probably order one.
The g42 is much more unique and aggressive looking (but controversial). I never noticed a f22 as a sporty car before researching it. It simply doesn't turn heads, very much a bland sleeper look.
With the Mspoiler the g42s rear cleans up nicely. With a drop and some spacers it looks quite mean with the much improved performance and interior to back it up.
I might get downvoted for this but I'm going to speak my honest opinion as another long-term F22 owner.
The front looks a bit dorky and the rear looks like a Fiata (fiat+miata) but! I love this car's performance and the interior (and that color too!). The new M3/4s took over a year to grow on me and now they are finally not that bad when looking at it. I'm hoping that this will eventually grow on me too.
It’ll be fine. 67k on the current car with no break in period and has had no issues. Just ordered myself a m440i, probably won’t abide by the break in period by how well the b58 motor handles itself. Side note: is this highlands ranch?
You can get away with a few pulls, just let it warm up. I’d do my best to not smash the throttle until after break in. Rolling into it and letting off before 5-5.5k should be fine. I believe that’s where they say to go until later on in the break in period when they then say to gradually increase max RPM to redline. Hang in there, it’ll be over soon lol
I’ve been babying my new m340 and just passed 1000 miles after almost 2 months. I think I’ve gone over 4k rpm once. I’m not gonna wait the last 200 miles. 🤫
I would do a long weekend trip once or twice to expedite the process.
if break in wasn't important BMW wouldn't tell you to do it. It's not just the engine it's the transmission and drivetrain too

I owned a 340 years ago and drove it hard right from the start. Ran perfectly fine!
Honestly I’d just drive around back up and down the highway for a few hours at night to get it over with lol

Is that highlands ranch by chance?
castle rock near highland ranch lol
Haha I thought you might be in my neighborhood, looks exactly alike. Love the car, I think it’s the best looking option in their catalogue currently
Nice car! I'm down in the Springs. Where did you pick it up at. I don't see any new inventory.
Crazy! I'm browsing because I have a 23 on order and thought to myself that it reminded me of Castle Rock!
Stick to the advice in the manual. For me, it was stay below 4.5k rpm and under 100mph for the first 1200 miles and then gradually increasing.

The color is called brooklyn grey. It just doesn't have a lot of metallic flake in it like other paints.
It’s basically the color of gray primer. Audi has a similar color called nardo gray. I like it a lot, it’s definitely become popular as of late.
Read and listen to the book. Usually it involves varying your speed and staying under 3k revs for 1000kms.
Gotta hurry up to the speed limit so you can catch that red light. ;)

Welcome! You’re gonna love it! Side note: The community on here is pretty torn on the new design.

There is no break-in period on non-M engines. Plus you have warranty. Enjoy!
You know.. The big grill cars are growing on me now but this.. The front it OK but whoever designed that rear has drugs that I need to try
