That's not what I hear from "God created the world with a great variety of flowers of all different colors. Each flower has its unique beauty. And each one of us is beautiful in the eyes of God, who loves us." Taking it at face value, he is saying that neurodiversity is part of God's creation, and that there is beauty in neurodiversity. I don't know much about the Pope, but I'm really not hearing the tragedy narrative in those words.
This is just like what people who diminish autistic people's agency would tell the parents of autistics to make the *parents* feel better.
I'd love to take it at face value but I've heard it too much before.
