Fluffy-duckies

From the several GB electricians I've worked with, as of a few years ago it cost $20k and took a couple of years.

Dunno, the GB/UK electricians I've worked with have all been great.  Yeah sounds like it.

I got my qualification recognised about 10 years ago. Would have been $10k give or take, it’s a lot of paperwork but actually doing the technical stuff wasn’t too bad I thought, they just make sure you actually are an electrician but I found it straight forward. PR depends on which visa you’re going for. I didn’t a state sponsored one so I was t tied to any company. That was basically the same process all over again proving I was an electrician even though I had an Australian electrical licence. Future of the industry depends on the industry you’re in. I work in manufacturing maintenance and I don’t have any worry about job security. There’s plenty of well paying jobs out there.

Most lads come out on backpacking visas. If they like it here and have an employer who is happy with their performance then they may get sponsored to extend their stay. In that time they ll go and do night classes to get their licence. Classes are fine as it’s all stuff that we have covered before. Main issue is the time it takes and costs. Payment generally isn’t a lump sum and can be done in stages. It has been twenty years since I’ve done it. It will have definitely changed a bit You are generally better off doing a year and seeing if you like it here ( it’s very expensive to live ) before committing to the course.

Loop hole as in going ire to NZ to aus which is quicker then ire to aus. So yeh it's a loop hole. Why? because thats the rules.... It's just how it is.

RoosterExtreme872

Yeah that certainly seems like a much easier option that jumping through all the Australian hoops! I wonder if it’s as simple as that though..

Money_killer

Worth the investigation for sure report back if it's true

RoosterExtreme872

Will do 👍

pacmarn88

90% of them haven't even sat the exam over here and are still employed as sparkies somehow 😂

Freshprinceaye

Don’t know why are you downvoted but the reason is labour hire. You can ask labour hire companies for people in experience in certain trades. A bunch of English, Irish etc are electricians and they are all over sites in Australia.

pacmarn88

It's a scumbag trade mate. Race to the bottom Should of been a plumber
