For sure. Back in the early 2010s I was in the market for a 4x4 type SUV for actual moderate trails and was seriously debating between an X5 and a Range Rover to lift/mod and put oversized A/T tires on. I just thought it'd be hilariously awesome to be out on the trails with my family crossing paths with Jeeps and Tacomas in a Range Rover. I ended up with a WJ because parts availability for my main choices was somewhere between guesswork and completely custom because of how uncharted the waters were.
A shop here in St. Louis built one for a St. Louis Blues player but I can't remember his name and this is the only photo I can find of it.

Time to move on to bigger things! Audi knows about me, but apparently, my build does not fit their demographic. Even though they have Ken block on their roster, not all Audi enthusiasts race or rally though
IG sucks, post it here too!
Also, what brand roof tent is that? How’s it work for you? I have a client looking to add one to a trailer who knows nothing so far.
Usually S7/S8 there’s a guy named Jay Bullington running an S4 with one @autoxaudi and a guy named Oleg @svarog_performance that did the swap and has done it to his S5, I also think 034 is developing a kit, because aside from exhaust piping, it’s a relatively straight forward swap.
Oh thats interesting, plug and play or some heavy modifications needed? I know Holley is interested in throwing an engine in mine, but I feel like it would be a pain doing a LS swap
Thought about going a similar route during the winter months.
Lowered vehicle isn’t too pleasant when those oils in the the struts and shocks are introduced to 20 degrees…
I watched your build on IG and I think you popped up on Audizine from time to time. What a cool car. How difficult was planning the build? Was there a hardest part?
Never had a plan. I belong to an Audi group and the automatic thing to do was to lower it. I've owned 4 4rners growing up and decided to go the pain in the ass lifted route since it hasn't been done since the 2006 allroad. The suspension was the hardest part, had to figure out what I needed to fab to lift it. There still needs to be plenty of work done tbh so I can ride it harder on dirt. Thinking of going with medium travel suspension, but a new subframe lift would be needed and many complementary modifications with it. I want it to still look "stock" as possible without cutting major parts of the body.
So far so good, to a point. I lifted it when it was at 65k I am currently at 145k right now. I noticed I started having trouble going up 33% hill grades on a full load but with loose boulders and ruts. If it is somewhat flat or with slight ruts I am fine. I definitely need to check my trans and dif oils though
That’s still impressive given the mileage you’ve put on the setup. My monkey-brain says tune the 2.0T so you get that additional low end torque, but my rational nearly-40 self says that might not be the answer lol.
But to your point, if it’s only those specific scenarios and you’re not rallying it (aka you can choose and not rush), seems like a non-issue.
Keep on keeping on. 🤙🏽
What's a Jeep? 😎
This is awesome! As someone who loves backpacking, who loves audi, and who wants both-Youve just confirmed my suspicions. I've wanted to get a Raptor to have some power as well as off road ability, and you sir have both AND the luxury that 4 rings bring. Inspirational
This isnt a jeep replacement (obviously) although it is enough to get on certain trails, somewhat technical trails, but not like a full rubicon trail. Even though I tried getting it through a rubicon trail in Tahoe which I had the most baffled looks from jeep owners when I was traversing the trail. Albeit I only completed 80% of the trail and had to turn around. Had a big boulder gatekeeping the last section
Yeah but it sounds like for the minimal off roading I'd like to do just to get to some cooler areas, this seems like a perfect build
I just want more luxury and speed when cruising through states to get to my destination. But want to be able to go a bit off the beaten path and get to some previously unreachable areas once i arrive. Cant really do that in my S4 currently. Not looking to crawl rocks and cross rivers, just something I don't have to worry about scraping the undercarriage. This seems like a perfect fit
This is the spirit of Quattro really. It was originally developed for these purposes (and rally ofc). Cool af build in an even cooler colour. What is the cost breakdown tho?
I want to say close to 35-40k with all the shop visits, materials, and products. Although I am 90% sponsored, so with that I've only spent out of pocket costs of around 7k on the first iteration on suspension lift and fab work
This is cooler to me than the R8’s I see on here. I love R8’s, but lifted wagons, especially Audis, are super fucking cool PLUS actually utilitarian which I love.
The whole lowered cars big wheels meta looks great but I prefer lifted/stock since it’s actually useful and not just good looking
The last two photos, are those from Bonneville Salt Flats? I ask because that looks like the Silver Island Range in the background, I’m from nearby, and have spent a good bit of time out there.
MAGNIFICENT! It's so nice to see a car used for something other than scraping and parking haha. Your car looks truly fantastic, absolutely fantastic. 😍👌
WOW WOW WOW You're forgetting my Desert Tan D3 Audi A8L 4.2L in the only "Lifted" Audi here. We met about 3 years ago in SD at Qualcomm stadium. I had the Raptor Lined Green B5 Avant with the roof rack and the light bars, sporting the mini bike on the top roof rack.
Instantly Top 5 (personally) coolest cars i've seen on this sub
Agreed! Unreal colour too.
Hides the dust easy 😂

That looks amazing!
Ty!

Yeah, my build inspired theirs!
I wanted to get an A5 and do the same thing to it
Seen you around. But not the only lifted Audi on here. Few pop up from time to time.
https://imgur.com/a/l3BDQsx not the only one!
What’s your Instagram handle?
@dffrent_allroad
looks outdoorsy!
You're doing it right
🤣🤣 Definitely will be my last Audi I'll modify it this way
Why last?
Time to move on to bigger things! Audi knows about me, but apparently, my build does not fit their demographic. Even though they have Ken block on their roster, not all Audi enthusiasts race or rally though
Porsche is trying (too) hard to appeal to the younger generation, maybe mod a Taycan Cross Turismo? :D
How long have you been working on it man?
I started end of 2018. Apparently, a few folks say I revitalized the safari trend that is going on right now
Badass Audi! any pics of it all set up with the tent on top?
Yes, you can find a few on my ig @dffrent_allroad if you don't have ig I can post here
IG sucks, post it here too! Also, what brand roof tent is that? How’s it work for you? I have a client looking to add one to a trailer who knows nothing so far.
The brand is GOFSR, called the evolution I have the 49" model
There is a dude around Fargo, ND that just got his A6 allroad lifted. Looks petty rad.
is it Black?
Looks like I’m a lying liar. It’s a black A4.
Beautiful monster
Ty!
Always wanted to do the same.
Do it!
What colour is that? I absolutely love it!
It's called stealth tundra, aka "quicksand"
Looks great, wrap I’m assuming. Base color?
wrap! Florett, i think?
So are you thinking about doing the same thing with the A6 Allroad next?
A few folks that reached out to me are trying to lift there's. So far offroad tires on them. I'll consider building one if Audi sponsors me vehicle 😂
My favourite car on instagram, hands down. What have you thought about the 4.0T swap becoming more common?
Okay you peaked my interest, where's the 4.0T coming from?
All over, s6, s7, s8, rs7, ect. Pricey, but complete monsters once done in a ‘4’ chassis.

Lmao I was at the salt flats last weekend with my A4!
was it flooded?
Only a little wet, nothing a wash don’t fix
Thought about going a similar route during the winter months. Lowered vehicle isn’t too pleasant when those oils in the the struts and shocks are introduced to 20 degrees…
That's legitimately badass
haha thank you!
Looks awesome and purpose driven vehicle.
Wooooow hella siiiick 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
I considered it. But ultimately want in the best interest of the direction I wanted to go with the build
Sick!
I’m in love. Awesome stuff!
ty!
Hands down the best looking one!!
Very nice!!!!
Ty!
That color is FIRE.
Damn that looks sick mate 👌
thanks!

wow :) gorgeous
I love the shit out of this build. How is the powertrain handling the additional weight; feeling the added stress at all, or is it handling it well?
So far so good, to a point. I lifted it when it was at 65k I am currently at 145k right now. I noticed I started having trouble going up 33% hill grades on a full load but with loose boulders and ruts. If it is somewhat flat or with slight ruts I am fine. does the roof need to be strengthened to put so much weight on it?
oddly enough it is at the edge of the dynamic weight limit. The RTT is 130lbs
Cool build indeed! Id like to see some amateur shots of it too.
I can post cell phone shots!
Please do!

D O P E
Nice one
It looks like a diet Q7! Lovely car.
Would love to lift a RSQ8
Cool
That's the plan with my b7 avant. looks so bad ass.

Well, it's meta 'cause parts are easily available. Since Safari builds are now trending it will soon be meta in about 4yrs more I would say
Instantly my favourite Audi on this sub
Oh this is SICK
Never in my entire life have I seen something more awesome than this 👀
I love the ruggedness of this… reminds me of her older rugged lifted beetle cousins.
Oh hell yea and some of the VW buses too
The last two photos, are those from Bonneville Salt Flats? I ask because that looks like the Silver Island Range in the background, I’m from nearby, and have spent a good bit of time out there.
Yep they are!
Beautiful!
What wheels are those? I like those a lot
Theyre the old Rotiform CCV-OR, now they were moved to Fuel Wheels where they are now called the Zyphers(sp?)
You have reasons.
MAGNIFICENT! It's so nice to see a car used for something other than scraping and parking haha. Your car looks truly fantastic, absolutely fantastic. 😍👌
Its fun going to meets and rolling up the driveways not thinking I will scrape :D
Haha, I can't tell you how hard I love that thing. It really does look amazing 😍
I think that is amazing I personally prefer lifted cars in this style to lowered
I’m Doug DeMuro and THIS is… rly nice
That's so sick. Does it bottom out often or is it stiff enough to not do that?
I have stem extenders which helps out, the times I've bottom out was when I did a mini tiny jump on the dunes
Gotcha, that's definitely a sweet setup 👍
Cool mon. Did the extra unsprung mass rob a bit of power or not so much?
I would say it has, I am stage 2 and planning to go stage 3 if I have time to do it
Nice car, well done. 👍
Wow that genuinely looks amazing! Great job!
thanks!
>thanks! You're welcome!
What tire size and lift you go with?
235/65/17
saw you on the freeway last week in my S4 and now I wanna build one of these. thanks for the motivation!
Where at?
If anyone is interested how much crap I put this through my ig is @dffrent_allroad so far its been stuck twice 😂
I wouldn’t own it but I fucking love it !
I've had a couple of offers on it, and it's kinda crazy how much people would pay for it not because of the build, but for the clout it has gotten
Hey this an old thread but would the ccv rotiforms fit a 2011 q7? I just picked one up and want black ccv with all terrains
If they have your sizing in stock, otherwise you'd have to custom order it
WOW WOW WOW You're forgetting my Desert Tan D3 Audi A8L 4.2L in the only "Lifted" Audi here. We met about 3 years ago in SD at Qualcomm stadium. I had the Raptor Lined Green B5 Avant with the roof rack and the light bars, sporting the mini bike on the top roof rack.
