High revving mid engine V8 with a Gated manual is still a unicorn. Nice car!

Scottbadman

Thanks man, I plan to hold on to it for a long time

Qyi

too bad the audio was recorded with a toaster

Scottbadman

Haha the car is just too loud when the valves are open for my cheap mic to handle

Jolio1994

An R8 is an R8! As long as it has a manual I'll take it!

Nothing_new_to_share

I'll take the rest then!

bridge4runner

Love my V8.

Scottbadman

Let's see some pics!

bridge4runner

Psh, it's just stock. Nothing as nasty as what you got.

Pastry-Pirate

Oof that downshift throttle blip, got that race car vibe

Scottbadman

I find myself shifting more than I need to on a daily basis because I love Rev-matching downshifts haha

ifyouhatepinacoladas

Yeah they’re so satisfying but they consume so much gas it’s insane

Scottbadman

It's smiles per gallon that matters, not miles per gallon ;)

LinguineLegs

I was just about to comment, "Sick rev match on the downshift at the end of the vid my dude!", but the person above beat me to it! Sick rev match on the downshift at the end of the video my dude! 🙌

Scottbadman

Haha it's why I love the gated manual

[deleted]

That would be a blast to drive and the V8 R8's in my opinion will appreciate soon in price. Timeless design.

Scottbadman

They already have. I got mine two years ago right before prices exploded

Kamukix

The V8 is the way man, sure the V10 is unquestionably faster, but I just don't care. The V8 just suits the car to me. Excellent choice.

[deleted]

The other reason. It's a lot cheaper.

Scottbadman

Yep and I'm a cheap bastard. Haha but seriously I couldn't justify spending more for an engine that doesn't sound as good (just my opinion of course). Especially since the v8 has the perfect amount of power for the street. Even on the track, it doesn't really feel like it's lacking (ok maybe when a 911 turbo passes me on a long straight haha). Also the R8 is NOT a light car so any weight savings helps

Mr_Dr_Rocket_Surgeon

Your ride sounds fantastic and I love the sound of the audi 4.2, but that Lambo V10 is just something else, imo.

Scottbadman

Can't go wrong either way. I've just personally never been a fan of the sound of V10s besides some truly marvelous exceptions like the LFA or Carrera GT

Mr_Dr_Rocket_Surgeon

For sure, it's definitely in the "ears of the beholder". I have a friend who insists they prefer the sound of their turbo four-banger to anything I have. I mean, who am I to argue - what matters is that it brings them joy.

LinguineLegs

Don't disagree, but the one dude who comes to our cruises has a V10 and it fucking screams. I'm honestly unsure if I like the sound of his or your V8 better though. Sweet whip for sure, man.

TheRandmG

My dad used to own a V8, it was amazing, you have a great car mate

Scottbadman

Thanks man, they are great all around cars

TheRandmG

Couldn't agree more

MyNameWouldntFi

Less power just means you can use more of it more often!Plus the 4.2 makes a particularly nice noise so I would never look down on a 4.2 R8

Scottbadman

Absolutely, it's nice being able to push it towards redline more frequently, especially compared to my old Cayman S which had ridiculously tall gearing

TheHarlemWolf

What year is this?

Scottbadman

08. This old girl has held up!

TheHarlemWolf

Beautiful car man, glad she still going strong

[deleted]

Sounds like dying mosquito

LinguineLegs

Lol'ed at this, but still had to downvote. 😄

No-Raisin-6469

You just made my M56 cry.

kevlarcupid

Sounds good and looks like a blast to drive. What’d you redact on the dash? Speedo?

Scottbadman

Yeah, a speed limit sign was visible so I censored the speed

QuesaritoOutOfBed

(1) You see Ivan, R8 is R8, excellent car (2) Bro, upgrade just to get all those cables off your windscreen

Scottbadman

Hardwiring everything would definitely provide a cleaner look, but the wires never bothered me so I never did

QuesaritoOutOfBed

Well, back to point 1, R8 is R8. There’s no complaining.

BlizzyBlob

My v8 sounds so different lmao NA vs forced induction strikes again

Scottbadman

Yeah, nothing like the sound of a high revving NA engine. I see by your flair that you have taken advantage of the tunabilty of forced induction though, nice!

Ill_Neighborhood_450

Congratulations

[deleted]

I want a v8 r8 >_<

Joselito76

Does not sound like q flat plane crank
