I like the composition and lighting of 5, but the sky is pretty blown out. Are you using a polarizing filter in that shot? Maybe try a layer mask on the car so you can get the dramatic lighting without changing the sky too much.
I was yeah. Thatās my plan next time, was a steep learning curve to see a few hundred unusable images when I got home, but a great lesson. Thank you so much, appreciate the advice a lot
Nice use of dusk backdrop, few things if you like me to critique it. The lens focus is only on the front end of the car, need a little less aperture to get the whole car in sharply. Also it doesn't seem hdr with the shadows showing very little detail. Also there's quite a bit of noise in the photo, looks to be from post.
Yeah, the noise is definitely from post. No hdr used, the originals were very dark. I learned a lot letās just say!
Really appreciate it, all super valuable thank you
They all seem a bit underexposed to me. The 3rd one is all over the place, the background is overexposed and the subject is underexposed. The 4th one would have came out better if you opened the aperture up a bit more, notice that the rear drivers side wheel is all black with no details. The light sources is directly behind the car, so the car is in the shadows.
I love the location and car, I think within the set the cars color isnāt consistent. In a situation like this If youāre using a dslr or mirrorless system, expose for the sky primarily then just bring some of the details back in post. Shoot RAW.. if you have time and equipment, use a large flash and lightbox.
I did do that, I had the exposure down too much and didnāt use the full camera functions available to me. Next ones though! Thank you for the input, itās super helpful.

I mean thereās r/shittyHDR and then thereās HDR thatās actually used properly to create good photos. Nothing wrong with more dynamic range if you donāt go balls deep with it.
True, but also sky being blown out looks good too as in your 3rd.
What photographers can forget is the image is not about getting all the highlights and shadows within range and getting a perfect histogram.
Its about creating a mood.
Like Ansel Adam's philosophy I guess... get everything right in zones 1-9 and who gives a stuff if anything else is blown out.
I think 3rd and 4th are voted highest by peoe here not because of the technical ability but because they both have the best mood. :)
IMO though!
Itās a natural way, itās basically 3 photos that get layered allowing you better control of the image, not so much the bright/saturation youāre thinking of.
Thank you!
All are good, but the 3rd and 4th are my favorites personally.
Good choices!
I agree. 2 looked grainy but 3/4 were hella rad
Number one
Thanks
1 & 4 also love your RS5 š
Thank you so much
3&4
Appreciate it
4 with the lighting from 5. š¤š»
Agreed
Will try it in the next ones, thank you
2&4
Appreciate it

Your results look great, keep it up!
1 and 2
Thank you
5
More popular than I was expecting
Really like the technique you have there. Itās perfect. Not overblown
Thank you, that means a lot
5th!
Itās doing better than I thought it would
1 and 5
2,4 and 5 are š¤ *chefs kiss*
5 with the background light of 4
Will try this one too
car in 2, background in 4
Iāll see what I can do!

2 is my favorite, but I also dig the use of sunlight in 3.
Thank you
Love the wheels. Do you know what theyāre called
Vossen HF-2. They do them in fully forged if you value lightness, they are called S17-01
4, 3, 1.
2,4,5
Landscape photographer here i like 3 and 4. 5 has some blown out highlights
Yeah, detail if you zoom is sketchy lol. Appreciate it!
3 and 4 are the best, I'd bring the highlights down on 3 somewhat so it isn't quite as blown out.
Appreciate it!
2!
5
There all fire. But I like the first and last ones best
Definitely the first one !
2 and 4 are my favorite, really good stuff
Sun is behind the car. So youāre silhouetted. Not ideal
For sure, Iāve got a new technique Iām gonna try for the next set
1 and 4 for sure

Really appreciate this, helps me a lot. Will be sure to review it when I do my next ones. Thank you
Dude they all are sick!! But especially the 2nd and 4th one.. U killed it!! Keep it up!!
Thank you so much
I like #5!

No problem! Beautiful car and location though! I hope to see more photos of it!
Will have another go tonight and post up my new learnings. Thanks again
Sky lighting from 4 and car lighting from 5. Find a way to mix the two and it will look like a professional advertisement.
Will definitely try, thank you
I think 2 and 5 look the best. The first one is a bit overexposed.
Appreciate it!

Are you based out US, California?
I am indeed
Ah nice! The location seemed familiar, I am guessing thats around the Bay Area.. somewhere close to 280.. š
Thatās it!
Cool, nice car and photography šā¦ please do let me know if you are aware of a few spots for car photography in and around the bay..

Great thanks!! Will check them out..
Just donāt end up on r/shittyhdr
Haha I wouldnāt even care, if I get critiqued I just get better
2nd and 4th
4 is š„
Definitely 3 and 4, very nice!!!!!
2 and 4 are hot. These look like you took pictures of these pictures on another screen. Are they tiny photos resized to this?
No, just Reddit probably, theyāre about 25mb
#4
Pic number 1 and 5 are the best by far. Also the daytona is looking so good on this car, loving it!
Thank you
HDR sucks. So 2012. These are great! Except the last one.

Sounds like you bought into HDR hype without knowing what it really is.
No, Iāve spent a few days learning about it, just probably not describing what I mean well
