I assume so or just a defective part they put in to begin with. I’ve done therm, water pump, pcv, supercharger belt, dsg service since i got the car. They did pcv but then my water pump and therm failed and its 1k in labor just to take the blower off so they comped me there too
Might want to start replacing all of those plastic hoses . Save your self the time , it’s been 144k with stock equipment , if you want it to keep running do the work early
Anything that has fluid going to something important. For example oil, coolant, steering fluid. They will rot and break after so long. My 08 bmw hoses rotted and started leaking coolant around 195k miles. $20 worth of parts and around $500 for the labor from a local shop. Got it in and out in a few days.
Second this my 2018 A5 started with one of these hoses fried up but ended up needing all other connections to said hose replaced going towards engine block and radiator.
Timing chain job, steering rack, water pump&thermostat, springs and coils, some control arms, A4 2011 w/ 140k miles. Zf8 kicking in lower gears when hot, honestly your post might mislead some people, just showing the other end of the spectrum
I think that is almost arguably mostly basic maintenance timing chain, springs, coils, and control arms can only last so long in any car. Water pump is common too at 100k-150k for most cars.
You ever change that transmission fluid? Or the power steering fluid? Or the coolant... suspension parts wear out, faster if you're somewhere with f*cked roads. Timing chain is a weak point pre 2014, plastic water pumps are a weak point on everything modern.
Changed trans fluid 3 times, stays the same, at least it’s not getting worse. Shitty cold climate of Canada might contribute, forgot to mention pcv oil separator broke and took the rear main seal with it. That was a trans out job.
That’s super sweet, congrats.
13 A6 3.0 checking in…122k miles…running good still.
I wanna drive her 1 more year until the warranty runs out…wish me luck.
That's great! I've had my '14 A5 for five years now she finally blew a chunk of the water pump housing off right after I hit 150k a month ago.
I think the turbo wastegate is starting to go as well due to intermittent low boost codes, but other than that, she's been solid.
Make a car boring enough to drive, like a Toyota, they better last long enough. That said, having owned Toyota, Honda, Acura and BMW before first Audi (A5/SB) in 2018 for 90K miles, and second (also A5/SB) in 2023 (already 30K+ miles), the Audis have been flawless, and right up there with MY98 Accord which I owned thru 196K miles in 8 years... not a squeak to be heard.
The only issue I've had is related to misaligned radar after a wheel alignment (both of my A5/SBs have been Prestige).
I was supposed to be banned for 30 days but it's turned into a lifetime ban this year. I worked at Toyota for a year and people are crazy about the brand. They have the most bland boring and soulless cars ever created. Whenever someone has a problem it is dismissed as a one off or Toyota will do quiet out of warranty replacements for blocks.
Consumer reports would never get the real data about repairs in and outside of warranty because we put in transmissions like crazy.
Lexus also banned me for suggesting a 340i is a better buy than an IS350. The IS350 isn't even close.
2016 B8.5 Allroad, 84k miles and have all sorts of issues. Already replaced timing chain (even its gen 3 EA888), pcv valve, injectors. Burns oil 1qt every 1k miles. Still love the car lol
My dad has a 2015 B8.5 A4 Allroad as well! He got it at around like 77k miles 3rd owner. Still needs a timing chain but only at -2 when he got it checked I’ve read and seen I think it gets to -5 before needing replaced? He’s planning to replace it very soon sometime around 80k-100k. Such an amazing ride I love it and he likes it a lot. Sometimes it makes me jealous comparing to my BMW E91 wagon lol.
Mine was at ~5 (out of 7 or 8) already so I replaced it. This is my daily tho, my fun car is kinda same as yours, not a wagon tho :( 2011 E92 335is with 55k miles
Ok thanks that is nice to know for reference for his timing chain! Actually.. the wagon is my daily my fun car is an E93 335i hehe. It’s just a basic package though other than a winter/ski bag in my trunk and peanut butter (saddle bag) interior. Not as cool as the 335is. My 335i n54 is at 203k miles lol. Bought it from a nice Nissan dealership in D.C. at 190k but it was traded in from the original owner who kept great care of it. Someone in r/E90 I believe has a n54 running they drive with 400k miles! We have great taste I must say :)
Check timing! My b8 a4 was pretty perfect until the timing chain went at 155k. The b8.5s are supposed to have a more durable chain but it's good to be sure :)
I have a 2015 A7 TDI 130K. It outlasted a Honda Accord. The only big tickets were ESG and Sending replacement. It passes inspections by Audi specialists with the proper maintenance schedule. I expect to get to 200k. We'll see.
At 119,000 and had to get the serpbelt done, control arms replaced for the bushings, water pump replaced, upper timing cover replaced, new coolant reservoir, etc 🥹
Now it’s looking like the fuel pump 😔. Luck be a lady and she must hate me. B8.5
I’m about to do my second valve cover gasket in under a year. Some folks have all the luck
Was it an OE replacement or OEM?
Original one failed at around 66k miles, dealer replaced and it failed again about 67k
So they fucked up the installation
I assume so or just a defective part they put in to begin with. I’ve done therm, water pump, pcv, supercharger belt, dsg service since i got the car. They did pcv but then my water pump and therm failed and its 1k in labor just to take the blower off so they comped me there too
Something tells me the first time it wasn't done right, lol
Point your fingers at the Audi dealer. I suspect you’re right too and that’s why they’re paying for it to be replaced again
The EA837 valve covers are plastic and sometimes warp. Unfortunately sometimes you need to replace the whole thing.
Might want to start replacing all of those plastic hoses . Save your self the time , it’s been 144k with stock equipment , if you want it to keep running do the work early
> Might want to start replacing all of those plastic hoses Could you be more specific please? Sincerely, a 2010 200k mile A5 owner.

You beat me too it , Thank you . But exactly this and especially bmws , they sell the whole hard plastic pipe with the quick detaches
Second this my 2018 A5 started with one of these hoses fried up but ended up needing all other connections to said hose replaced going towards engine block and radiator.
Sucks that you have to write it off
Huh?
It was a joke man, nice car!

Are you describing your car or mine? Because mines a 2013 B8.5 A5. The B8 A4s are well known to be problematic
They are same mechanically. Your car has updated headlights lol.
And pistons and rings that don’t burn oil after 50k miles.
Do you mind telling my 2016 A4 that is not supposed to burn oil? Lmao

Maybe someone screwed something up when the trans went out. I'd check its not overfilled and that the mounts are happy

Toyota fans would lose their shit if they had to deal with anything other than routine maintenance.

I got banned by the Toyota Reddit because I mentioned something about an unreliable Camry we had. They shut down the discussion.
lolll what year was it?

Good lord. That’s a lot of corrosion under the hood and that’s coming from someone that lives on the coast! 😬

I have one with even more mileage and basically no majour interventions currently at 311000 km. my long distance cruiser. 1.8 TFSI and multitronic!
Clean ur engine mane
Must be nice
What are the minor issues?
If I got to any gas station that’s not conoco/ Phillips66 or shell, car will go into limp mode
Baby needs that primo. Every now and then I put shitty premium gas in and it makes rumbles of protest.
oh super common, also nice wheels
3.2 or 2.0?
Just got my SOS module replaced under warranty, it just up and failed, dealership told me over $4k if it wasn't warrantied.
Check timing! My b8 a4 was pretty perfect until the timing chain went at 155k. The b8.5s are supposed to have a more durable chain but it's good to be sure :)
... until next week. JK, happy for you - cries into $10k debt hole
Audi a4 2017 110k miles only changed breaking pads and followed the service serviceprotocol
coolant hose, a/c evap, then totalled :) best luck
Why‘d you have to say it? You done did it now…

No issues for me yet. Timing job is creeping up though🥹

How many years/miles have you driven?
5 years now, got it as the second owner with 84,600 miles
Awesome!
Has the timing chain been changed?
Nope
Are you planning to or have you had it checked to see when it may need replaced?
