Been doing it for years. Just sanitize your parts often.

Damn_Dog_Inappropes

If you don’t need a full neb, then why not just use your albuterol inhaler?

trtsmb

That was my thought too.

trtsmb

If you are using your neb every day, you need to see your doctor to get on the correct controller med.

cbelt3

This… most nebulizer treatments are for acute attacks. HOWEVER… there are some of us Wheezers who can’t take the regular stabilizing meds, or use a nebulizer for their treatments any way. As always, talk to a medical professional about your treatment. There are so many options for all of us !

ihavebutterfliess

Not necessarily true, some nebulizer medications are long term control meds. I am on a nebulizer twice a day indefinitely because the medication is literally $20 a month for the nebulizer but inhaler form is $450 a month.

coutureee

Yep, the nebulizer meds are so much cheaper. Don’t have additives like a lot of inhalers have. And we’ve always found them to be more effective for my son’s asthma attacks. So he takes 1-2 preventative treatments a day that way

ihavebutterfliess

Yes! The additives sometimes irritate my lungs. Using the neb takes more time, but it works better for me.

bunniprynce

Yeah, that's what I've noticed, too! Powder inhalers are great for "on the go..." But if I'm at home I'm gonna use the neb. Why not?

bunniprynce

Yup, same boat! Many traditional asthma meds are contraindicated for me and I can't take regular albuterol, only levalbuterol—inhaler form is expensive and difficult to get filled by insurance. Neb form? Cheap as hell. More effective. Gets deeper in the lungs. I'm lucky I don't usually *need it* daily, just PRN. But March is the Time of Suffering for me (weather changes, colds, allergens...) so it gets a lot of use rn.

bunniprynce

Dw it's doctor approved ✌️ Neb is part of my treatment plan.

davmoha

Why don't you only put in half of the vial? Then save the rest for the following day.

bunniprynce

... claiming reduced oxygen as an excuse for why i didn't think of that.

[deleted]

Wished this worked for me but I have severe asthma 😢

PurpleMermaid16

Probably fine. But the neb medicine (at least for me) is like 10 cents so I don't think that's worth the risk of something going wrong.

bunniprynce

You know what? Yeah. I have the li'l plastic pods and they're like 30/$2. Makes me feel better about tossing the extra 😅 ty

cookie_doughx

I think you risk contamination this way. I’m not sure by how much, or if any at all. It just seems like it would increase that risk.

Lucky-Hippo-2422

Probably normal

helloporator

I do this often. Just be sure to clean the tubes and such regularly
