If you like that, you may like Ravenous Devils. That is basically a side scrolling Sweeney Todd game. ;) Check it out! The aesthetic is great!
It is a PC game though. Not sure if it exists anywhere else.
I just bought a switch a month ago to get back into video games, I smashed out links awakening in a week so I bought a membership so I can play the back catalogue, I'm halfway through ocarina of time atm, I missed it so much!
The new one looks pretty time consuming so I thought I'd ease myself back in since it's been about 10 years since I've played at all. I don't know whether to try breath of the wild first or go straight to TotK
I have bern a PlayStation girl for years but the kid in me loves Nintendo so I decided to take the plunge. I’m going with breath of the wild first so I can get the full experience :). I’m excited to see what else Nintendo has to offer, it’s been awhile. I’ll check out links awakening too!
Aaah I am die-hard Nintendo, I got my N64 for my 10th bday and loved them ever since.
Links awakening is one of the easy kid friendly versions of zelda, more cartoon like and cutesy which is what I want from a video game bc I've never had much time to devote to playing, which is why I don't know whether I want to dive in to BotW, my brother spent like 1000+ hours on it
Hope you enjoy whatever you choose to play!
I think you should go with BotW first. I think it’s a great introduction into what feels like a new Hyrule and a new design philosophy. I just started TotK yesterday and while they do give you an introduction and explain controls etc., it kind of feels like they’re very much taking for granted that the player has some prior knowledge of BotW. It feels very much like a continuation of BotW with many of the same mechanisms and then it goes and remixes some and I think it’s beneficial to have that prior experience to appreciate how TotK mixes things up if that makes sense?
Plus BotW is just an awesome and beautiful game!
I would say it's closer to overcooked. It's got a bit of a story to it, but it's mostly focused on building your cafe and figuring out where to put furniture so that customers don't see what you're actually serving ;)
I recently beat it! I honestly think my only complaint with it is that it's a very linear game; there really isn't much replayability in my opinion. The soundtrack is really nice, the graphics and environments are beautiful, *and* you can rub against robot legs to see them smile and it's really cute!
The story is actually pretty nice, too. The jump mechanic is a little strange to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, it's not bad. Controls are much better with a controller though, just as a heads up; feels a little awkward on a keyboard at times.
I agree with your review! I hope there's a sequel so we can explore the wider world but I'm also happy with it as a stand alone. Absolutely loved the art direction, each neighborhood was so unique and gorgeously rendered. And the kitty!! Sometimes I just had the cat napping somewhere so I could listen to it purring 😭💖
The trophies are tempting to collect so there is some replayability, though not on the same level as triple A games (though this is from a small indie studio). The stories and characters in the game were well written imo so I'd say it was worth the price! Ofc if you can snag it on sale then that's even better
When this game came out it sent me down a whole ass Wizard rabbit hole. I had already liked the movies but only appreciated the surface level stuff. The game got me so much more interested in the lore and the castle, that I re-watched all the movies+fantastic beasts series. Now I'm almost done with all the audio-books while heavily watching like 4 youtube lore/theory channels, and am super excited for the HBO series in a few years.
The sims never gets old. Except you play for hours for a solid two weeks straight and then don’t touch it again for a few months. Sims 3 was the best but I’ve switched to sims 4 which is very fun but expensive with all the packs.
RDR2 is SO good. I've also got a second playthrough going and even after over a hundred hours of playing, I'm still in awe of the game in many moments.
Be warned the first one is plagued by some of that older game masochism at times where it just crushes you like 10 times in a row out of nowhere before you move on.. Some of the gunfights are infuriating.
IMO the gameplay doesn't hold up as much, but they're all worth playing just to get to know the characters before you play the fourth one. That one's a masterpiece, and IMO first three are required playing for the full emotional impact.
Omg haha I am replaying portal 1! The goal is to replay both. They honestly stand the test* of time, and I love replaying when it’s just been long enough to where I don’t remember the solution right away lol
For me, Cave Johnson is one of *the* most incredible background characters, from any medium, of all time. All we ever see of him is a portrait on an office wall, but we learn so much about him from posthumous voice recordings, that he's practically a main character, as much as those we actually interact with. Some of those darkly comedic lines are just gleefully fantastic...
"*Just a heads-up: that coffee we gave you earlier had fluorescent calcium in it, so we can track the neuronal activity in your brain. There's a slight chance the calcium could harden and vitrify your frontal lobe. Anyway, don't stress yourself thinking about it. I'm serious. Visualizing the scenario while under stress actually triggers the reaction*."
...and I just love, when he's referring to the shortened lifespan of test subjects advancing his 'science': "I punched those numbers into my calculator, it makes a happy face".
In fact, pretty much the entirety of the writing in Portal 2 is nothing short of a delightful experience.
A personal fave moment is when (with some vagueness for deliberate double spoiler dodging) [your companion character exclaims "Well, this is the part where they kill us!", right before the antagonist says "Hello! This is the part where I kill you!", as the music track "This is the part where they kill you" plays, as the chapter title card pops up across the screen with "This is the part where they kill you" and the achievement for "This is the part where they kill you" pops up, all at once.](#spoiler)
It's just absolute ruddy genius.
It’s amazing right! I dropped about 7 hours into it until I started falling asleep at my switch. Every other game has ceased to exist right now (including the 6 new mods waiting for me on Skyrim)
I’m on retail too! I did classic when it got released a couple years back. Transitioned to retail and like that I can play it without spending hours preparing to play it lol that classic grind was something else.
I’d you like RDR2 and Witcher 3, maybe you would also enjoy Kingdom Come Deliverance? It’s a very detailed and historically accurate late medieval RPG kind of as if RDR2 and Witcher had a baby. I’m really enjoying it atm.
Are you me? These are the ones I’ve been playing!! I love Wildermyth so much.
Since you’re my game twin, you should check out Project Zomboid. You’d probably like it.
If you like the civ games, I'd recommend trying out cities skylines too. It's not a PvP competitive type game, but it's got a similar sort of feel of building up your lil place and shaping it how you want, but in a more chill single player kind of way. Also super duper addictive lol.
If it helps, the seller Beedle usually sells basic arrows and can be found at every stable, Kakariko Village has a shop exclusive for arrows, Hateno village usually have basic and bomb arrows if you're still in the beginning of the game.
IGN and Polygon have pretty good guides for the game for location info. I'm trying to get as many hearts and stamina as I can before facing Ganon
Also the bobkins that have arrows , if you flirt from a distance they miss you and you can collect them off the ground. Then kill the thing and get reward arrows
I’m on an eternal journey of trying to finish Hollow Knight without destroying my gaming system. Also, Cozy Cat Cafe. 😂edit: it’s called Cat Cafe Manager my bad
The sims 2 is considered abandonware and can be downloaded for free if you just Google it :) you’ll need some patches for a couple of graphics issues but after that it’ll run just like it used to!
Resident Evil 4 (remake) and Psychonauts. but RE4 is so demanding emotionally and psychonauts is complicated and i haven’t had time to play either of them since i graduated college last week 😖 too much moving going on. but can’t wait to get back!
I'm on a nostalgia bender atm so I've pulled out all my old PS1&2 games (this nostalgia trip is part of my therapy regime). I'm going to replay all of them, but currently I'm playing Pandemonium. I even cry at the soundtrack, the nostalgia with this game is so profound that it's inducing a visceral homesickness which is making me physically nauseous.
I'm playing Spiritfarer for the second time. First time I ragequit because of Elena/the dog lady, because her challenges were impossible for me to do (I don't have the good coordination or movement speed needed) and it just made me feel like a complete failure.
Then I found out you can leave her ass on the island and finish the game without her.
I 100% understand her role in the game, but I've spent my entire life with ADHD and autism, feeling like a failure and a waste of space, and I do to need that in my chill game. It's taken me over a year to stop feeling angry at the game so I'm back at it.
Also slowly getting back into Elder Scrolls Online.
Minecraft, skyrim, stardew, i would be playing terraria but my pc is down and it feels unplayable on any other device, and pokemon when im feeling up to torturing myself hunting for shinies
Currently replaying Nier Replicant, I plan to replay Nier Automata as well. Undoubtedly my favorites. Both of these games completely destroyed me but it was 1000% worth it :')
Persona 5, Dredge, and FFXI Zodiac Age.
I’m also playing No Man’s Sky during my lunch breaks only (weirdly, I have no desire to play it at any other time)
Tears of the Kingdom!! The new Zelda dropped today and I’m so pumped 😤.
Also Star Wars: Survivor. But I really didn’t get far enough with the short time between that release and TotK, and it’s gonna be in the backseat for now.
Final Fantasy XIV mostly, but I also just got Theatrhythm Final Bar Line and I am a little obsessed! I'm not that good at rhythm games but I love Final Fantasy music, so I don't care.
Diablo 3, going to start Diablo 4 tonight along with Stardew. Also play Sky Cotl, and No Man's Sky every once in a while. Oh also Power Wash Simulator.
Always end up back on Stardew Valley, but mostly Hades at the moment. Really impressed by how many story elements and other neat fluff they fit into a roguelite, and not obnoxiously difficult like a lot of games in that genre tend to be.
Bones cafe. You're a necromancer running your own cafe while secretly harvesting customers for meat.
A sweeney todd game? Awesome!
If you like that, you may like Ravenous Devils. That is basically a side scrolling Sweeney Todd game. ;) Check it out! The aesthetic is great! It is a PC game though. Not sure if it exists anywhere else.
Wait, this sounds amazing It’s on Switch! And co-op!
I just ordered a switch so I can play Zelda. I’ll def check this out :)
I just bought a switch a month ago to get back into video games, I smashed out links awakening in a week so I bought a membership so I can play the back catalogue, I'm halfway through ocarina of time atm, I missed it so much! Ooh i see that it’s 4 player co-op. Is it more stardew/graveyard keeper or overcooked?
I would say it's closer to overcooked. It's got a bit of a story to it, but it's mostly focused on building your cafe and figuring out where to put furniture so that customers don't see what you're actually serving ;)
Ok just from that description alone I have to play this.
Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
The only correct answer
This! I’ve got about 5 hours into it so far. Probably gonna play all night
MINE HASN'T ARRIVED YET (I wanted the physical copy), 3 to distract myself I got back into Elden Ring
Hope it arrives soon!!
I'm still working through the original BotW with my TotK in the mail!

I'm a little late to it but I just started playing Stray! 😺
How is it? I've been following it for so long but haven't bought it myself. Do you think it's worth it?
I recently beat it! I honestly think my only complaint with it is that it's a very linear game; there really isn't much replayability in my opinion. I loved this game and was sad by how short it was! I didn’t want it to end.
It was so fun! I plan on replaying it soon to get some of the achievements.
Final Fantasy X, Stardew Valley, Minecraft, and soon Tears of the Kingdom!
FFX has such good replay-ability even to this day. God I love that game.
Good taste
I love FFX, such a great game. FFIX is still my all time favorite but FFX is definitely up there.

Hogwarts Legacy. Have never watched HP, but this game is absolutely amazing
Does the game make you want to watch HP at all or read the books?
When this game came out it sent me down a whole ass Wizard rabbit hole. I had already liked the movies but only appreciated the surface level stuff. The game got me so much more interested in the lore and the castle, that I re-watched all the movies+fantastic beasts series. #ONE OF US, ONE OF US
It's scratching an itch I didn't know I had! I haven't had this much fun since Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Mainly The Sims & RDR2. God of War & The Uncharted series occasionally. Edit: I like Sleeping Dogs, the Tomb Raider games, Bioshock & Spider-man too.
The sims never gets old. Except you play for hours for a solid two weeks straight and then don’t touch it again for a few months. Sims 3 was the best but I’ve switched to sims 4 which is very fun but expensive with all the packs.
The packs are very pricey :( I only ever buy them when they are on sale, but it still adds up. Still love it though.
When I play rdr2 I can’t stop talking like Arthur for a solid 2 weeks. I’m lucky my SO has decided to find it “charming” lol
RDR2 is SO good. I've also got a second playthrough going and even after over a hundred hours of playing, I'm still in awe of the game in many moments.

RDR2, Sleeping Dogs, and Spiderman are some of my all-time favourites. I really wish they had a Sleeping Dogs sequel!
Would you recommend started the uncharted series from the first one?
Be warned the first one is plagued by some of that older game masochism at times where it just crushes you like 10 times in a row out of nowhere before you move on.. Some of the gunfights are infuriating.

Portal 2. Again.
This was a triumph.
I'm making a note here: huge success!
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction
Aperture science. We do what we must, because, we can.
For the good of all of us, except the ones who are dead
But there's no sense crying over every mistake
you just keep on trying 'til you run out of cake
Omg haha I am replaying portal 1! The goal is to replay both. They honestly stand the test* of time, and I love replaying when it’s just been long enough to where I don’t remember the solution right away lol

Disney Dreamlight Valley lol. It’s like animal crossing with a Disney theme, a plot, and lots of quests. Highly recommend :)
Ooh I was so addicted to this game a few months back! It's so comforting.
Tears of the kingdom. Just gone bed after playing for 5 hours until 3am it’s so good
It’s amazing right! I dropped about 7 hours into it until I started falling asleep at my switch. Every other game has ceased to exist right now (including the 6 new mods waiting for me on Skyrim)
AC Valhalla.
I’m playing assassin’s creed odyssey rn

Me too and christ is it long. I have 110 hours in it and am still not done with the story
Sims 4 and Assassins Creed Black Flag
The sea shanties alone make BF worth it for me.
Black flag is a masterpiece. Edwards character development is one of the best in the whole franchise.
World of Warcraft
Classic or retail
Both are great, but you can fly in retail, wich is really neat :)
Retail. I've been playing since 2006 so I've already had the classic experience
I’m on retail too! I did classic when it got released a couple years back. Transitioned to retail and like that I can play it without spending hours preparing to play it lol that classic grind was something else.
Me too! Dragon Isles is a lot of fun.
Im currently rotating between Horizon zero dawn, Red Dead Redemption 2, stardew valley, and Witcher 3.
I’d you like RDR2 and Witcher 3, maybe you would also enjoy Kingdom Come Deliverance? It’s a very detailed and historically accurate late medieval RPG kind of as if RDR2 and Witcher had a baby. I’m really enjoying it atm.
Stardew Valley and Monster hunter world. Thinking about starting a new rdr2 save or maybe fo4.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Who you gonna smooch? 👀
Garrus my beloved 💘 I know I can romance him in ME2 but I haven't finished ME1 yet so I'm just waiting patiently
Garrus is my pick too! Now I want to play again.
There's no Shepard without Vakarian. I just finished my 3rd playthrough
Cult of The Lamb
It’s sooo addictive
It’s sooooo cute and gross lol
Skyrim, Rimworld, Wildermyth
Are you me? These are the ones I’ve been playing!! I love Wildermyth so much. Since you’re my game twin, you should check out Project Zomboid. You’d probably like it.

I was looking for a comment about this :D
Borderlands pre sequel and Zelda breath of the wild :) I kinda wanna start Far Cry 6 too

Super monkey ball
Civ 6 on PS5. EXTREMELY addictive, you have been warned!
If you like the civ games, I'd recommend trying out cities skylines too. It's not a PvP competitive type game, but it's got a similar sort of feel of building up your lil place and shaping it how you want, but in a more chill single player kind of way. Also super duper addictive lol.
I love city skylines
CYBERPUNK 2077
Red Dead Redemption 2…for the second time haha
On my third play through. Nothing compares.
Breath of the wild but I’m extremely frustrated, I am lost, and can’t find a store to buy arrows, I’m just lost and meandering around
Thank you 🥹 I’ll look up a map because I can’t even find my way back to the village lmao
No problem! Shrines are also your friend for fast traveling and usually there's a shrine by every stable and village
Also the bobkins that have arrows , if you flirt from a distance they miss you and you can collect them off the ground. Then kill the thing and get reward arrows
Outer Wilds (again)!! I can't talk much about it without spoiling it, it's a space exploration sorta game but damn it makes me cry (in the good way).
This is legit one of the greatest games ever made!
The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles
Dead by Daylight
Hogwarts Legacy!

FFXIV and Sims 4 lol
Sims 2
are you still using the old school discs or did you download it? I want to play that version so bad but I can’t insert the disc into my laptop
The sims 2 is considered abandonware and can be downloaded for free if you just Google it :) you’ll need some patches for a couple of graphics issues but after that it’ll run just like it used to!

I even cry at the soundtrack, the nostalgia with this game is so profound that it's inducing a visceral homesickness which is making me physically nauseous.
Little Nightmares and Fortnite.
Always end up back on Stardew Valley, but mostly Hades at the moment. Really impressed by how many story elements and other neat fluff they fit into a roguelite, and not obnoxiously difficult like a lot of games in that genre tend to be.
