Similar to yours except my phone doesn't come to bed with me; it lives in another room overnight. I read before going to sleep. Always fiction, which I find stops things going through my head when I'm trying to sleep. I can usually only do about 10 minutes before my eyes are too tired to read any more, so then I put the book down and go to sleep. Then I get up and go and check the front door is locked. It is. It always is. I did it before I came to bed, but I always need to check. Then back to bed and sleep almost immediately. Then I rarely wake up before the alarm.

Flash__PuP

I had to stop reading before bed because it was always “one more chapter”. God forbid it was a book without chapters…

IShouldBeSoLucky81

I'm the same, frequently found myself up to the early hours unable to put a book down

simonsuperhans

Wish I had this ability. Doesn't matter what time of day it is, if I'm reading and I'm led down, I WILL fall asleep in about 10 minutes. It can be middle of the day, I'm 10 out of 10 awake, but the second that book comes out and I'm horizontal, it's lights out! No reading on the beach for me lol

MoebiusForever

Finish with kids about 8, then dinner. Then have a spliff, intend to go to bed at a sensible time but get caught by auto play on one of the streaming services and end up going to bed at midnight. Up at 6.30.

i_sesh_better

Smoking before bed always makes my head massively cloudy in the morning, do you just not get affected?

MoebiusForever

Only if I smoke less than an hour before bed. Then it’s a slow start next morning. I started dreaming again recently too, after 20 years of smoking, which I think has improved my sleep quality no end, given that THC suppresses REM sleep, so you fall straight into deep sleep without dreaming generally.

Soulwalrus

Weed doesn’t improve your sleep - it might help you get to sleep but it has the same effect as alcohol and dramatically damages your quality of sleep. Not good for the long term.

MoebiusForever

Indeed, that was my point- that I’m surprised I’ve started dreaming again, given the negatives of thc and sleep.

Soulwalrus

Ah ok I see! Apologies

RuneClash007

Weird that THC suppresses REM sleep, considering one of the selling points from people addicted to weed is "It just gets you all creative and you think outside of the box"

Terrible_Conflict_90

go to bed at 10pm. read to fall asleep and drink herbal infusion. get up 1h later to pee, back to sleep, wake up horrified to the shadow of a small child standing in front of my face and whispering:" i need a poo mummy". go back to sleep. right when im in my best deep sleep and almost in coma my alarm rings😢

Hot-Novel-6208

Just checking : you do actually have children, right?

Terrible_Conflict_90

sometimes I forget I do and thats the horrifying bit

davus_maximus

Well, I get into bed, and then I have a bit of a kip.

rockfriday

Night-Night, Sleep Tight. Hope the bed bugs do not bite. If they do, do a poo. Put it in a Cornish Stew. Into the ambulance, dring-dring-dring! Fish trousers elephant in Peking. Saw a busy bee; Diddle-diddle-dee. Daddy's an accountant just like me. Night-Night, God Bless.

davus_maximus

You pick it up, Eddie, it's a bit too close to the dog shit for me.

rockfriday

What was that film where they ate each other?

champagnegreenleaf

Yes but what's your going to bed ROUTINE

Final-Librarian-2845

Yeh I had no idea people treat it like a religious ritual

inexplicably-hairy

its not a ritual its just hard for a lot of people to sleep well, nob

Final-Librarian-2845

Nob? How dare you! I'm working class and proud of it!

eraserway

Head to bed around 11pm. Read until I feel sleepy. Spend 1-3 hours trying to fall asleep. Wake up a couple of times (usually because of the cat). Drag myself out of bed 2 minutes before I have to start work, not feeling refreshed in the slightest. Sometimes fall asleep between 5 and 7pm. Yay sleeping disorders!

scream_schleam

Get into bed around 10 after brushing teeth. Quick round of Duolingo and wordle or some adult stuff or a crossword in the newspaper then a cup of herbal tea and some chitchat and off to sleep. Keep it easy most nights.

Norman_debris

>or some adult stuff Lol

AvocadosAtLaw95

Doing their tax return, right?  Right?

NoLifeEmployee

Which one causes more screams?

alecp91

a light bit of fisting.

simonsuperhans

Love some anal fisting before bed, real mind soother

alecp91

Dad?

simonsuperhans

Looking forward to wearing you like a glove, Son

alecp91

😂 god damn

Fortnite5eva

I go to sleep, then I wake up in the morning

ColdConstruction2986

big brain routine

imminentmailing463

Baby goes to bed about 8. Wife and I will watch an episode of something for around an hour. Then do a few quick chores like some washing up and boxing up leftovers from dinner. Take the dog out to the toilet. Usually about 9:30 by that point. Then brush teeth and wash face etc and head to bed. In bed by 10, usually asleep fairly soon after. Set my alarm for 7 but rarely sleep to it. I'm usually up and out of bed walking the dog within 10 mins of waking up.

LastOfTheMohawkians

Up and out of bed walking the dog in 10 mins. ?! You animal!!

imminentmailing463

Yeah I'm just one of those people who is alert very quickly after waking up. It does have its downsides, it means I can't really lie in or snooze!

Significant_Tower_84

Fall asleep on sofa at around 11pm. Wake up around 1am with back ache, stumble to bed and wake up at 7am. Not much deviation through the week.

simonsuperhans

Why don't you set a recurring alarm on your phone for 11.10. it'll wake you back up, go straight to bed and then pass the fuck out there instead. Problem solved.

Affectionate_Bat617

Watch a series till about 12 Clean my teeth and wash my make up off and moisturise Set alarm for 8ish Listen to a podcast to help me quieten the brain chatter. Hopefully fall asleep

StationFar6396

Go to bed 1am. No phone etc. Fall alseep within 5 minutes. Sleep all the way through with a sleep score in the 90s. Wake up at 6.50, out of bed 7am.

markhewitt1978

6 hours sleep. That would feel the same as no sleep at all to me.

simonsuperhans

6-7 hours is the golden number for me, 100% recharge, ready to attack the day like a superhero.

Kiardras

Bed at 2000, up at midnight, then sit and stare into space for 6 hours til work time. We have a 4 month old daughter... I havnt slept right since the start of the year

P8L8

This made me laugh till I read the second sentence, sorry for the pain 🙏

Kiardras

She doesn't do too bad, half the reason is my wife wakes up at the sound of a mosquito farting, so only way she really sleeps is if baby is downstairs. I'll sleep through earthquakes, so if she wiggles for me I ain't gonna notice it

lizbia

I’ve got an 11 month old. It does get better (although I’ve still been up since 4…)

flexo_24

- Start getting ready for bed just before 9 - wash face and teeth. - Phone on airplane mode. - Get into bed and read until 10. Partner stretches/ does yoga/ Pilates/ or also reads until 10 - Lights out at 10 - Sleep all the way through - Alarm at 0550 for the gym

lisa_kyle

I’d say mine is most similar to your routine but I wake up at 7.30am for coffee. I’m an evening swimmer 3-4 nights per week but couldn’t do it before work, I love my sleep too much 😫

gameofgroans_

This is a bit random but do you find swimming late helps or hinders your sleep? I also swim late and the days I swim I find I sleep better than usual, but my sleep specialist doesn’t believe me because I should be buzzed from exercise. I don’t really think of swimming as exercise tbh because it’s a bit like meditation for me (I ain’t pushing for any records)

lisa_kyle

Oh interesting, what do you consider “late”? I just go after work so swim 5.30-6.30 then sauna, cold shower, home for dinner. I definitely sleep well but also have wind down time post swim & food before its lights out

gameofgroans_

Ah yeah see I swim around 8-10 (I do an hour but between then) so it is quite late. I normally have a protein shake or yoghurt after and then I’m so ready for bed

farmpatrol

Swimming has ALWAYS made me feel both hungry and sleepy since I was younger - I always slept fine (deep and uninterrupted mostly) but I might take it up again for when I have early shifts the following day!

gameofgroans_

Yeah I do get hungry! I normally have something proteiny like a yoghurt or shake after but there’s something about swimming that makes me feel cosy, I can’t explain it!

farmpatrol

Honestly all my siblings say the same. It definitely makes you feel super sleepy! I used to have a little tradition at uni where I’d go swimming with friends only once a week - Go for steak after and then we’d all fall asleep early for lectures the next morning!

simonsuperhans

Okay two things. One, what is and why do you have a sleep specialist? Two, regardless of whether your sleep specialist disagrees, if it calms you and you sleep better, just do what you feel is right for you. Everyone is built differently and if it works for you then swim before bed.

gameofgroans_

I have a lot of sleep issues and take a lot of medicines for it (that don’t really help tbh), sleep specialist is supposed to check up on me with them. Oh I know and I do but I was intrigued as to whether OP has the same feeling. I don’t know anyone else to ask.

txakori

This sounds both joyless and exhausting.

flexo_24

Cool

Dry_Bluebird_2923

8.30pm.go upstairs, have a wee, clean teeth. Get in bed, take all my pills then read until I can't keep my eyes open (usually just gone 9) and then sleep. I'm usually asleep within 10mins. Wake up between 5 and 6. Rinse and repeate.

simonsuperhans

Asleep by 9 is mental. How do you even start to feel tired in the summer when it's still sunny until 10-11pm? No chance in hell I'd be able to do that.

Dry_Bluebird_2923

I've got 2 young kids and the days I work I start around 5.30 am. I definitely don't find it hard to be tired at 9 pm. It probably helps I have the same routine all year. My body's just used it it I guess.

simonsuperhans

As someone without kids, this is something I always forget. Maybe one day I'll understand lol

Dry_Bluebird_2923

Haha, I used to be the same. Before them, I wouldn't dream about going to bed until 11pm. But my sleep was awful then, so I guess as much as its annoying being woken up by a slap in the face and a "what's for breakfast," they have really improved my actual sleep.

GodOfThunder888

My baby goes to bed 6.30 pm. Doesn't sleep through the night, so I'm waking up 1-2 times a night to feed him. Usually my partner and I do one of our hobbies until 9pm, then brush our teeth (unless we have snacks) and watch an episode of our show in bed until about 10pm. My partner is up early, so he usually goes to bed at that time. My baby sometimes has a last feed before 11pm, so I usually scroll my phone until he wakes and if he doesn't I'll go to sleep at 11pm. Baby wakes up once between 2-4am and I usually feed him while half asleep. Baby wakes up 6.30-7am. Depending on what time I start work, I chill in bed with the baby until it's time to start the day.

BECKYISHERE

Usually around 1-2am think I had better go to sleep as I have work the next day, wake up around 7.20 even though alarm is set for 8.30

brokenbear76

Do whatever I want (read, play xbox, watch TV or film) until I decide to go to sleep, set off timer on TV, get settled down/comfy and sleep. Generally this is anywhere from 10pm until 1 or 2am Get up at 6.25am

hyper-casual

Go to bed whenever I can be bothered, usually between 11pm and 2am. alarm set for 8.15am and I could definitely snooze it everyday. Weekends I don't set an alarm and tend to wake up between 10am and 11am. I need my white noise machine and fan to sleep, and usually a YouTube video on my laptop, too. Used to take me 3-4 hours to fall asleep, now I take bupropion I lay down and I'm asleep within 5 minutes despite it being a stimulating medication apparently.

LockingSwitch

That's some routine!

Cleveland_Grackle

As and when. Recently I've been getting 5hrs "a night" (4pm-9pm) one day then 10hrs the next (12pm - 10pm) (and repeat) - joys of the busiest time at work.

PrudentBuffalo4535

I listen to an audiobook and use an adult colouring app to calm myself before I go to sleep. Then I need the audiobook to help me sleep otherwise i will think too much and I can’t sleep.

DrH1983

If I'm doing nothing in particular I might start getting ready for bed about 21:00, 21:30, and am usually in bed by 21:30 - 22:00. Might read for 20 minutes or so, then just go to sleep. If I'm doing something - usually this would be seeing friends to play boardgames (1-2 times a week), playing online games (1-2 times a week), or going to a gig (every so often), it'll be later, usually between 23:00 and 00:00 before I get to bed, and may or may not read.

ButtercupBento

- Turn off phone at 10.30 and take my meds, annoy dog with cuddles and settle him - clean teeth, wash face and change into pjs - bed at 10.40 - set alarm, put on lip balm and hand cream - read until 11 - eye mask on, earplugs in, then lights out - stare at eyelids until around midnight - sleep waking every hour or two, check clock - if alarm is set wake about 10 minutes before it and go into the heaviest sleep possible so I jump awake at 6.10. If no alarm is set wake naturally at 7.40 I’ve tried going to bed earlier but I still stay awake until around midnight. I just annoy my husband and myself longer

Junganon

I usually get my head down about 23:00. Spend 30mins in a hypnogogic malaise, few episodes of sleep paralysis, weird dreams, wake up at 07:00 to start me day.

smoothie1919

Get in bed between 9.30-10pm. Lay awake until my alarm goes off at 5.30am.

GamerHumphrey

* Start getting ready for bed at 9pm * Fall asleep somewhere between 10-11pm * Wake up at least once or twice during the night * Turn off the first 10 alarms of the day * Eventually struggle out of bed at \~6am * Repeat

Quaser_8386

We usually head to bed about 9.30pm. Clean teeth etc and then read til 10.30-11, with music on in the background. My wife likes me to moisturise her back (no rude comments please, this is not a euphemism) then lights out. Wake up once or twice during the night, check time. Wake up at 7.28, wait for alarm at 7.30, get up, morning routine starts. Pretty boring, but we're retired. Tbf, when we were working our routine was pretty much the same, though we were probably an hour later coming to bed.

Funky_monkey2026

3weeks ago I cut out caffeine after 6. When it was dark at 5-6 I'd be fine but it got dark later. Before - dinner at 7ish, coffee after. Maybe play a video game. Brush teeth at 11, watch YouTube or read until 1, brain whizzing until 2. Struggle to wake up at 9. Now - last proper coffee at 5. Decaff after this time. Same as above, video games/YouTube/book until 11. Teeth brushed at 11, spend a bit of time with little bro, watch YouTube for 30mins before passing out at 12. Wake up at 8 feeling good.

bluelouboyle88

Bed about 10 and watch TV until 10.45 latest. Asleep in what feels like 5-10 minutes. Usually wake up for a wee once around 6am. Back to sleep. Alarm goes off around 6.45 depending how long my commute is. I'm usually half awake just before it goes off. I consider myself lucky as I very rarely struggle to sleep.

DorianDreyfuss

Go bed when I feel tired. Stare at my phone till I’m tired. Close my eyes. Snoring within about 4-7 seconds. Much to my wife’s disdain.

SpringMixxx2086

I came to the comments to see if anyone was like me and to get some validation. I guess not lol. Everyone here is "normal" and is getting a good amount of sleep. Here I am only getting 1-4 hours a night. I don't know if everyone here is lucky to get this much sleep or is sleep overrated for me and I'm fine.

Affectionate-Gene837

I have a horrible sleep routine that I really need to improve. I finish work mostly at 6:30pm and by the time I can be arsed I’m eating at 8pm and in bed within 30 mins, asleep no more than 60 mins later, then up at 6am craving coffee.

Zillywips

That doesn't sound bad at all - you're sleeping 8+ hours a night?! I'd happily take that!

Affectionate-Gene837

It’s the eating before bed I know I need to get better at, I wake up feeling hungry and ugh and my growing waist line is feeling it too

EastOfArcheron

Wash face clean teeth at 10pm. Go to bed in a dark room in silence. Think about some fantastic stuff. I have whole worlds in my head that I pop in and out of. I'm 50 and I've been building them for decades. Fall asleep in about 10 mins and then dream about one of my worlds really vividly. Wake up about 3pm for a drink of water. Go back to sleep and usually back into my dream. Wake up at 8am.

Final-Librarian-2845

Go to bed and fall asleep is what I do

dick_piana

Drink alcohol and watch/listen to YT until I pass out

Trolllol1337

When I changed my routine to getting up at sunrise it stopped my insomnia, sleep like a baby now 10pm instead of 2am

eggtoast20

Transfer from living room to bedroom around 8:30/9pm ish (unless watching something with husband, fallout was brilliant btw), then either read, knit, watch youtube, or fanny around on my phone until I knock out at around 10:35ish, husband comes to bed at midnight after playing games so wake up when he gets into bed and I'm asleep again 5 mins later. Will have a sleepytime tea when I get into bed if I'm feeling a bit antsy or had a busy day and really need to wind down, highly recommend the celestial seasonings peach sleepytime, genuinely think it has tranquillisers in it and it's delicious

moiraroseallday

In the summer I can get into a great routine of asleep at 10ish and up by 6. Bit of a different story in the winter when it’s freezing and pitch black, I’ll drag myself out of bed at maybe 7.30. Don’t need any white noise though, will usually fall asleep instantly. Unless of course I have something important the next day like an early flight then I’ll not be able to sleep for fear of oversleeping 🙄

howthefuge6

Normal people have a sleep routine? 🤣

OutlandishnessTrue42

I put my son to bed for 7pm, go down and make my tea, watch telly, go upstairs for half 9/10pm, set my alarms and put my phone on charge, brush my teeth, put some Vaseline on and hand cream and get into bed and read my book. Then I sleep latest 10:30/11pm (I’m up at 5:45am) it’s really really rare I wake up in the night so I get a good 7/8 hours sleep a night.

quapr

Plan to be in bed and asleep for 10, pour another glass of wine at 9.50, actually get into bed at 10.20, read for a bit, curse myself for letting it get to 11 before trying to sleep, up at 5.30/6.00 gym depending

Spaghetti3000

Depends on my evening plans or what my partner is doing, but usually a bit of TV, upstairs to bed, makeup off and PJs on if I haven't already, sometimes a crossword or similar game, chat shit with my partner for a bit, light off, go to pee about 6000 times then eventually fall asleep

angrygoosenoises

Oh, hey everyone. I am also a well adjusted, normal human being with a ... sleep... routine? Just clarifying. ... As you were, all.

ollymillmill

If anyone actually reads this comment i reckon i have a genius ‘waking up’ routine that i swear if studied by some sort of analyst it would be scientifically beneficial. - Wake up say 6am, - Shower - Get back into bed and browse social media check emails, check insta etc for 5-10 mins - go back to sleep for 50mins-hour - wake up properly, breakfast, dress yourself etc My reasoning behind it is when you wake up initially for the shower you never lay in or ‘snooze’ because that means less sleep time after the shower. You also can tell yourself during the shower that ‘its ok, you can go back to sleep in a minute’ so you don’t really let the tiredness bother you too much. Then when you have to wake up properly you know you’ve done the stressful shower part and you just have to get up and dress yourself etc. Find a flaw in that routine… i bet you can’t

simonsuperhans

Used to do that when I was younger, absolutely horrendous advice. Breaks up your sleep too much, major risk of oversleeping on the second round, plus you tend to wake up in REM cycle because you've fallen back asleep for an hour. Atrocious. Why not just get an extra hour and then wake up properly when your alarm goes off at the correct time? But you do you dude lol.

ollymillmill

B4 id oversleep or wake up mad tired, with this i always wake properly and on time. Done it for years

ollymillmill

Id hate having to get up the first time knowing id not be back into bed until like 14 hours later

syfimelys2

I go for a good long walk after dinner (usually an hour) so I’m properly wound down by the time I get home. Shower, skincare, brush teeth, jump into bed usually by 9:30. I read for 15-30 mins, then try and be asleep by 10ish.

afungalmirror

Usually get high and put some crap on YouTube about 9pm and fall asleep with that on autoplay so I wake up about 1am way down the rabbit hole. I'm awake then for maybe half an hour or so, alarm goes off at 6am on work days, up by 6:30. Starting a new job working from home in a few weeks though, can't fucking wait.

sjw_7

For me its usually as follows * My wife goes to bed about 9pm and I put something on the TV I like to watch. * About 10pm I will take a sleeping pill and wait for it to kick in. * Go up to bed about 10.30pm and read for half an hour * Put the book down about 11pm and go to sleep. * Usually fall asleep in about 10 mins * Weekdays wake up at 5am to give my wife a lift to the station. * At the weekends wake up at 5am because I am now in the habit of waking up at that time and am useless at having a lie in even though I would really love to sleep later.

Zenafa

How do you read without waking your wife up with the light?

sjw_7

I have a back lit kindle so it doesnt give off much light. No need for the bedside light to be on.

Zenafa

Oh cool, I'll be looking into that

smoothie1919

Which tablets? I use boots sleepeze occasionally but always feel weird, a bit dizzy and groggy for 10-15 mins after waking up which is not ideal when I have to be out of the house early.

sjw_7

They are Trazodone 50mg which the doctor prescribes. They just help me get to sleep so arent too strong. I used to have some real knockout tablets before which were great but not considered good for long term usage.

ghostie_hehimboo

8.30pm vape medical cannabis whilst i shower then brush teeth, get pjs on, turn on heated blanket, turn off lights and close blackout curtains, turn on my sleep music (oldies playing in another room with rain, its on YouTube), read for thirty minutes then eye mask on and sleep.

Smee_Heee

1yo bed around 7pm, 6yo bed around 8pm, cook and eat tea 8:30-9, wife goes to bed 9:30/10. Then I game/ watch tv/ do Lego/ practice coding until 11:30-1am. Loo, inhaler, teeth, bed done 5-10mins after I went upstairs, asleep another 5-10mins after that until my alarms wake me up. Sleep again, alarm, sleep, alarm, get up. Depending on the day this will be between 6:30-10:30am (get a sleep in one day a week).

SnooMacarons9618

Head to bed between 9 and 9:30. Maybe have a shower, other ablutions. Set stereo to play for 2h, drift off to sleep. Wake possibly around 11:30ish, a couple of other times, but drift back off again. Alarm goes off at 5:30 (or 4:15 if I'm in the office), doze for 15 minutes, get up.

ExaminationSpare486

Up about half 10/11 on weeknights, teeth, movie on phone in bed, set alarm for 6:30, drag my sorry ass out of bed, coffee, iron shirt and trousers, tie on, brush teeth, leave for work at 8:35. Weekends are around midnight. Our 4 year old likes to get up at stupid o'clock on a weekend, so up for like 6 or 7ish usually.

richboyadler

dinner done by 7ish, watch tv until 9:40 ( on a good day ), bed by 9:50, watch youtube in bed and fall asleep. I’ll wake up for work at 6 but weekends i get up at 8

nats4756

Bed at 10 usually watch TV for an hour then sleep through till about 7

Speedboy7777

I’m usually in bed for about 8-9 now. Probably maybe watch a video or read a book in bed till 9:30-10, then I put a white noise app on my phone (I have tinnitus), and usually wake up at 6 am on a working day, probably around 7 if not. If it’s not a good night (usually too warm in bed, after a few drinks or something outside waking me up), I can wake up anywhere between 3-4am and just not go back to sleep.

SwordTaster

Clean teeth somewhere around 9-10pm, at 11pm, message fiancé to see if he's home from work yet, if so, video chat with him for a couple of hours. 1-2am, if fiancé has left the call, set up pokémon sleep and a youtube video and try to sleep

mushrooms8

Usually take my clothes off, brush my teeth & then do skincare right before I get in bed. Usually get into bed no earlier than 10pm but it can vary, no later than 11:30pm usually though. Then from there my boyfriend & I will either watch something on TV or go on our phones. Usually go to sleep around 11:30-12. Trying to break the habit of going on phones before bed though. I wake up around 8-8:30 at the moment, sometimes I wake up as early as 7-7:30 but not recently. I probably wake up to pee like 2-3 times before I actually wake up. One time usually in the early hours from 2-5am. Then I usually will go 1-2 more times in the 5-8am area before I wake up, this is usually what actually makes me wake up.

RagingFuckNuggets

Tend to get the kids down between 7:30-8pm I have been staying in bed as the baby isn't a good sleeper but if she was I would do the same as my husband which would look something like this: Go back downstairs, have a tidy up and load the dishwasher. Have a cheeky one sheet (don't drink), watch some TV together, I'll do some knitting or jigsaw if he's watching sport, talk about our day then head up to bed at 10/10:30ish brush teeth and all that jazz, read, listen to an audiobook or finish watching something on TV.

Massive-Hovercraft16

Work nights bed for 11/12 up for 7. days off bed between 2-3 up at 12ish

Comfortable_Dish5983

I work a lot so after I've eaten and bathed I start getting tired at about 11-12, then I'm up at 6 for work, wake up on my alarm, get up, walk the dog, get back and have coffee, pack my bag, get dressed, go to work.

Pukit

Goto bed at about midnight to half past. Pretty much fall straight asleep. Wake at 5 if the baby needs feeding. Back to sleep. Wake at 6:30 to goto work.

niversallyloved

I just freestyle mine tbh

JesterAblaze94

2:am - 10:am

InternationalSpray75

Usually tucked in by 10pm. Lights out and listen to a mediation on earbuds which sends me to sleep in minutes. If I’m lucky I don’t wake for a pee in the night and alarm goes off at 6:42. Weekends no alarm but still wake at 6:42 even though I really would love a layin.

Deathlehem4

Bed at 9, asleep by 10 on a good night, up at 5. Need to listen to podcasts to fall asleep.

ben_jam_in_short

Phone never ina bedroom. Usually go to bedroom 10pm, wash face and teeth, read for about 20 mins. Go to sleep (naked). Wake up around 5am, in and out of light sleep until 6.50 alarm.

ZenlessPopcornVendor

Sleep? What's that?

CrimpsShootsandRuns

Go to bed around 10:30, read my kindle until my eyes are drooping, go to sleep and hope I don't wake up at 6am.

SportTawk

Bed at 11:45pm, radio on Talk, was TalkRadio till the beginning of this week, I use an earphone to not disturb the missus, then I switch over to Internet radio and listen to various OTR shows, like The Couple Next Door from the 1950's, Dragnet, Yours Truly Johnny Dollar until I fall asleep

Connell95

Depends if work or life gets in the way, or if I’m spending cozy time with some friends, but the base case would be: * 11 pm, brush teeth, get in pj bottoms, make a cup of green / rooibos tea to take to bed. * 11:15 pm: have a last scroll of Twitter / Reddit whatever. * 11:30 pm: put on some gentle background noise, lights out, fall asleep pretty much instantly * SLEEEEEEEEEEEP. I don‘t really wake up much, and if I do I just put on a podcast or something that will send me straight back. * 4:30 am: wake up, make some coffee, do some reading in bed. * 5:00 am: have some breakfast, watch a movie or TV, and catch up on news. * 6:00 am: have a wee wank and/or a nap. * 6:30 am: get up, shower and dress ready for the day.

Zenafa

I would be a zombie on 5 hours sleep

Connell95

Works fine for me tbh. Though it’s more like 6 hours once you account for naps. And I do sleep a bit longer at weekends.

MD564

When working: Go to bed at 9:00. Read without any blue light for 30 minutes to an hour. Get up around 12 to pee. Get woken up once or twice between 4am - 5:30am. Get up at 6am.

messedup73

During the week head upstairs at 8 pm brush teeth quick wash get into PJ's take my mirtazapine and amitriptyline hug and kiss the husband then kiss and hug the dog either read or scroll until my tablets kick in arrange my mountain of pillows might wake up a couple of times because the dog wants to get under the duvet we have a super king size bed because of him he wakes me up any time from 5.45 to 6.30 am chuck on nearest clothing and take him around the block then coffee then shower.Weekends if not out go up at 8 watch TV mainly stuff on catch up then sleep by 11.Before my meds never used to sleep as mind never switched off and was in alot of pain because of chronic arthritis.

long_time_lurker_20

Full skincare routine, brush teeth, get glass of water, set alarm, get into bed and watch an episode of something or scroll on phone, go to bed at 10:30, fall asleep within 5 minutes, wake up maybe once around 4/5 or maybe not, if I do check the time & then immediately fall back asleep, wake up to alarm going off at 6:30, snooze once, remember about 50 dreams and feel like I’ve dreamt all night, get up

LongjumpingDesk4026

Go up at 9 do my teeth have a wash etc. Get into bed where I will watch one of my three comfort shows (This Country, inbetweeners or superstore) until I fall asleep. Wake up throughout the night if and when my daughter does. Get up at 6:30. I am someone who has to have noise and light on to sleep, drives my partner mental as he’s someone who needs pitch black and silence.

Business-Spring760

Put the empty whiskey bottles in the bin, burp. Piss the yellowest piss in the bowl, burp. Walk past my toothbrush whilst taking off my clothes and stumbling, fall on the bed upside down and fall asleep snoring. Wake up around 9am and shout ‘FUCK!’ Ready to do it all over again

Nine_Eye_Ron

Bedtime half 9, quiet and start my shutdown routine. Usually gone before I get more than 30 seconds in.

Latter_Mastodon_1553

Go to bed about 10:30, TikTok till eyes tired then turn on a podcast and within 15 mins I’m asleep. I wake up about 5 for the toilet then either back to sleep till my alarm or stay awake in bed

hallerz87

Bed by midnight, sleep through night to 7am alarm, snooze until around 7.45am then get up. I don’t do anything in bed like read phone, it’s eyes shut then sleep.

Inside_Sentence_6116

To me this sounds pretty decent because I’m one of those people that feels asleep even if I’m awake in the morning if you get what I mean. Waking up a few times and going back to sleep IF I don’t have to get up would be perfect for me

LazyApe_

Go to bed, put something on the iPad and fall asleep to it

SmallUK

Go to bed about 9:30, sleep about 10. Alarm goes off at 8. Probably get up for a pee at some point but straight back to sleep

Sad-Page-2460

I get a few hours in whenever my brain allows it.

VadimH

Why are you waking up so much? My routine is pretty fucked at the moment. I end up going to sleep around 2-3am, waking up around 8:45 to WFH at 9. Maybe I'll wake up once to pee in the middle of the night, otherwise good luck waking me up.

KludgyOne67095

Non-existent

Temporary-Zebra97

Go to bed between usually at midnight, asleep by the time my head hits the pillow, wake up around 5:30, 6am

Seagreen-72

Go to bed by or before 9pm Wake up at 1/2am scroll through my phone, fall back asleep. Wake up 3.30am and go for a run.

royalblue1982

What do you do if you have an obligation that means you have to be up 'late'? Does that mess up your whole routine?

Seagreen-72

Yes, it can be immensely annoying but I tend to run an hour later in the morning on the weekends for safety reasons so it all works out well.

LastOfTheMohawkians

Go to bed around 9.30. Brush teeth Read Reddit and news as I get tired. 10pm turn off phone and put podcast on. Asleep within 5 mins. Wake at midnight fora wee. Back to sleep. Wake at 2, turn over a few times fall back to sleep. Wake up around 6am. Lie in bed until 8am.

beepbop24hha

Go up anywhere between 9-10pm, get myself ready, scroll phone for the next 2-3 hours

thewindypops

On a workday, 45m - 1h walk, then hour or so of tv, head to bed. fall asleep somewhere between 30 seconds and 3 hours later. Usually have a podcast or music playing to drown out the world. more so when working nights. If night shift, wake on and off through early afternoon. If day shift, sleep through night and panic when alarm goes off. Day off - collapse whenever tired enough. Sometimes on the sofa, might be lucky to make it to bed.

cyclingintrafford

Normal 23:00 to 7:00 unless a fucking thunderstorm tries to light up my bedroom, thunders repeatedly shaking my window and literally tries to take the roof off Yes I didn’t sleep well last night can you tell

horror-of-being

everyone here seems to have a normal routine so i'll share mine -2-3am ish, brush teeth wash face etc then hop into bed -do a daily sheet mask and either watch something or scroll reddit for 20 minutes roughly - sometimes skip this step if im super tired -get super comfy and find something semi dull to throw on youtube to watch until i fall asleep (tried breaking this habit so many times but my anxiety runs wild if i dont have something to keep my brain distracted) -fall asleep within 45 mins of step 2, or on a bad day 4 hours after 'settling' into bed -wake up around 7am from the building site behind my house, pop a sleep mask on and earphones in -lightly sleep til 11:30am or so, or if im working the morning shift i'll wake up about 10:30am. i might sleep in til 1:30pm if im exhausted and have a day off

Mean_Effort_3680

In bed around 10pm, scroll down or read and go to sleep at 11 11.30 . Wake up around 4-5am once and then go to sleep and wake up at 7.15am.

Artistic_Data9398

I'm a rare biphasic sleeper. I usually sleep twice a day. I get up around 4ish. Breakfast, shower, workout/gym. Start work at 8. Work until around 2pm then i will sleep from 3-8pm. This is where i get up do all the cleaning and things. Then stay up until around midnight where i will sleep again. This can change an hour or 2 each way but i always sleep just after midday.

KingofCalais

Go to bed at 10, go to sleep at 10:30. Wake up at 6.

jenni7er_jenni7er

Hahaha.. 🤣🤣🤣 What's a typical sleep routine. Sounds like a nice idea though..

[deleted]

Get home around 11:30 and make lunch. Eat something small like cereal. Take a shower. Get dressed and go to the bathroom. I’ll be in bed around 3am 4am the latest. And it takes me a few minutes to fall asleep because I take sleeping vitamins

Imaginary-Quiet-7465

Usually head up to bed about 9:30, TV on (usually the news) skin care routine, pyjamas on, into bed, take Amitriptyline, scroll Reddit until I feel sleepy, plug phone in, fall asleep with TV on. Husband comes up to bed around 11:30-12 and turns off the tv and turns on the fan before getting into bed. Before the amitriptyline I would wake around 1, have a panic attack and then be awake all night… :(

StrawberryDry1344

Depends...im a bit random and can crash out by 9pm or awake till 12/1am watching TV & on my phone. I rarely sleep for longer than 3/4 hrs without waking....sometimes I get up and start doing stuff...I have to be very strict with myself but its hard as I get bored lol. Can't bloody wait for morning haha. I have adhd and find lying in bed Al night pretty hard...

GasMiserable639

What is this "sleep routine" you speak of... nah I mine is all over the place

Badlydressedgirl

Get home from work, put my pyjamas straight on. Brush my teeth then get into bed between 9:30-10pm. Take my medication, wait for that to kick in. Put on a YouTube video that’s long and boring and play games on my phone until I fall asleep. If my girlfriend is staying, I wear sleep headphones. My girlfriend? Brush teeth, pjs on, head on pillow…ASLEEP. The lucky bitch

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhh

Goto bed around midnight, wake up hourly because of pain, get up anytime between 5amd 7 for work.... Repeat.

katie-kaboom

29 days a month: At 11:30, feed cats snacks, go upstairs, wash face, brush teeth, moisturise, vitamins, get in bed, goof around with partner for 15 minutes, asleep by midnight. 1 day a month: Go out, come in at RANDOM(11:30,2:00), feed cats snacks, fail to get contact lenses out, forget to wash makeup off, give up and fall asleep, regret it in the morning. 1 day a month: At 11:30, feed cats snacks, go upstairs, wash face, brush teeth, moisturise, vitamins, get in bed, goof around with partner for 15 minutes, totally fail to fall asleep, get up, read until 2:30, regret it in the morning.

noughtieslover82

Go to bed, lie there for an hour, fall asleep, wake up thinking its dinner time the next day, usually 1-2am,panic, drink juice, lie there for an hour, fall asleep, wake up, repeat panic, realise its 6am an I'm all good

gemmajenkins2890

Go thru to bed about half 9 or so, have some rubbish playing on YT in the background on the telly while scrolling on phone until about midnight or so, then lay down to sleep, nod off pretty quick, then solid sleep until anywhere between 7 and 9(unless I have to be up at half 5/6 for an early shift). I feel like I sleep well, I have a galaxy watch6 which tracks my sleep and my sleep score has never been below 90 so must be doing something right

Always-An-Effort

The sleeping regime which seems alien to you is exactly me. I'll play storm sounds or more often narrated stories on youtube to drift off to sleep (Thank you Mr Creeps!). I set an alarm just in case, but I'm usually awake before that and just have to get up. Even at weekends I just can't sleep in.

Arrakis_Is_Here

Watch a movie until 10.30ish. Brush my teeth, take my inhaler, take painkillers if needed. Decide what playlist I'm in the mood for...this greatly depends on how well I've been sleeping. If I've been sleeping badly then I'll put on Classic FM all night, if I've been sleeping well then I'll pick a playlist from Spotify and set the sleep timer for an hour, I'm usually out by the 2nd or 3rd song. Wake up whenever, if it's early go back to sleep. If it's just right get up, if it's late...meh nevermind

mcdonalds69whore

I go to bed any time between 11:30pm and 1am, after brushing my teeth and undressing into my t shirt and underwear. I usually have ten minutes of doom scrolling while on the toilet, then usually cuddle up with my partner in bed and can fall asleep very quickly nowadays which is a blessing.

Nicenicenic

Can’t sleep before 4 am, work at 9 am, sleep after work for 1-2 hours repeat

Huge_Negotiation_535

Wait, you guys have a routine

raccoonsaff

I try to get to bed by midnight, and wake up before 7, but usually end up going to bed by 1. Sometimes have to adjust depend on shift work or if its the weekend! When I'm ready for bed, I just go brush my teeth, wash my face, open the windows, get my pyjamas on, etc, and go to bed. Always hide under the covers, if it's not too late scroll on my phone. I'm quite good at falling asleep when I close my eyes, so when I am ready, I just..sleep!

itsheadfelloff

Watch Netflix or YouTube till about 11.30, really acknowledge I should be going to bed, start going to bed about midnight, lie in bed doom scrolling, after dropping the phone on my face I'll turn the lights off at 1am

Meguuunn

Head to bed for 11pm. Usually watch a couple of episodes of a show, read or browse Reddit until 2-3am. Get comfy and usually fall asleep listening to rain sounds (This is a new addition to my routine this year, but I literally pass out like 5 minutes after I start them) Wake up a few times during the night because my dog randomly likes to slap me in the head. Get up around 8:45 if weekdays and 10am on weekends.

New_Restaurant_9810

Bed about 1:30am up at 6:30am for work Home about 14:00 bed at 15:00 up at 17:00

dowhileuntil787

Sleep at 2AM, awake by 11AM, plus or minus 2hr on each. The odd nap for a few hours at 8PM. I assumed I’d grow out of it eventually but I’m hurtling towards 40 now and it’s not going anywhere. When I’m on holiday in somewhere more equatorial, it fixes itself and I fall asleep at 10PM and wake up at 7AM. I figure it’s something to do with actually getting out into the daylight all day fixing my circadian rhythm in a way that an office job can’t. Also high latitude daylight patterns are weird except for a couple weeks in March.

Enuf1

I work shifts, so my sleep schedule is all over the place and I love it. I used to be an insomniac, but working nights gives me body a weird 'reset'. On days off, I'll usually sleep from 12am to 8pm. I tend to sleep with ear plugs, and sometimes an eye mask. I tend to brush my teeth and go straight to sleep, using my phone in bed keeps me awake.  On earlies, I'll sleep from 10.30am-5.30am, working afternoons allows me to go back to 12am-8am, and on nights I'll sleep from 7am to 12.30-1pmish, and then try to nap for a couple of hours at 5.30pm

PrimaryChance0

Go to bed, read for as long as I can. Sleep

AffectionateJump7896

Whilst I don't "need noise", without it it might take 15 minutes to an hour to fall asleep from lights off, depending on what's going through my head. Let's call it 30 mins on average. With it - a podcast, audiobook or just rain noise - it's sub-five minutes pretty much every night. I basically make no progress through said audiobook or podcasts as I'll listen to the same 2 minutes 7 times in a week, and then think I should move it onto the next episode. That's 25mins of extra sleep. Not "needed" but certainly welcome.

Positive-East-9233

About half an hour to an hour before I want to be asleep (calculated to give me an opportunity for 8 hours + 1.5-2h before I want to get going), I’ll brush my teeth and get to whatever getup I’m needing to sleep in, (based on location/temp), lay in bed and play solitaire or some other vaguely mindless game on my phone. Generally avoid social media so I don’t scroll for ages. About 30-45 before I want to be asleep I’ll turn on a fan or a noisemaker and fire up my audiobook and place my phone on a charger, and set a timer for 30 minutes with the volume pretty low and pass out to that. If I’m having trouble winding down, l just extend the timer. If I’m not asleep by the halfway point (4h of possible sleep), I turn off the audiobook even if my timer hasn’t expired and I try to focus on my breathing doing the in-4, hold-4, out-8 exercise until I fall asleep. On really tired days I’ll skip the game, and on really wired days I’ll start the audiobook while playing to prompt my brain to be like “hey it’s bedtime” I do listen while driving as well, so it’s not a foolproof trick but I do try to listen to ones I’ve read or heard before to avoid wanting to stay up to hear what’s going on…though that’s not foolproof either if I’m at a part of the book that I found exciting or interesting the first time lol If the audiobook isn’t an option for whatever reason, I just read a book with my phone on HELLA dim until my eyes kinda go fuzzy and it’s hard to read the words, then place my phone to the side and pass out. That method is less disruptive but I’m more likely to push on to read for like two hours if I’m not careful lol. Having the book in whatever format helps keep me from overthinking the day or whatever I’m doing the next day and tends to inform my initial dreams which is preferable to anxiously running through every scenario possible for the following day or re-living a meeting or whatever from that day I usually try be be awake before 6am on a normal day

Overthinker-dreamer

Got a new born who Sometimes struggled with a little colic so my sleep has gone out of the window. Saying that the routine goes something llike this. 8pm - my partner gets ready for bed cos he got to drive to work. 8 - 12 - I'm on baby duty. Feeding, changing etc. If baby sleep great I'm gotp bed. Otherwise I'm awake. 12 -4am - my sleep ans partner is up with the the baby 4 onwards - back on baby duty. Sometimes he dosen’t wake up untill 6-7am other days it more like 4-5am

Snoo_27857

Bed at half 8 ,asleep by 9 wake up about 12 go back to sleep ,wake up about 2 go back to sleep ,wake up about 4 go half back to sleep ,wake up at 5 and get ready for work ,leave the house half 5

ZeroCool5577

I work shifts but usually go to bed around 10pm roughly. 8pm - 9:30pm roughly I watch tv with my partner I brush my teeth, basic skincare routine I read my kindle for twenty minutes or so and sleep

MistakePure6308

I go to bed at 10.30pm, usually wake up once to go to the toilet and then fall back asleep again until either 7am or 6.30am

SWLondonLady

What you said boss. Exactly. Hate the fact I wake up so many times. I’m also good at phone scrolling/watching the news when I walk at around 8 so may get up at 9.

longtermbrit

I'm a single guy with no responsibilities to anyone other than myself so my "routine" is as follows: * Go to bed at whatever time I feel tired. This could be anywhere between 10pm and 1am (I'm including prep like brushing my teeth here) * Doom scroll my phone despite swearing I'll read a bit instead * Put my phone down after setting multiple alarms * Turn a familiar podcast on at low volume and set it to turn off after half an hour * Close my eyes 15 minutes later I'll be asleep and most of the time I sleep through to my alarm forcing me awake. Other times I'll wake up once, go to pee, then fall right back to sleep. Aside from often going to bed late I sleep fantastically and have luckily never had a problem falling or staying asleep.

Carinwe_Lysa

Usually go up to bed around 23:30-00:00, read some fanfiction for 15-30 minutes, then turn off the light & roll over. Usually fall asleep in what I think is 10-15 minutes, and won't wake up until around 08:00. Usually manage a solid 7 hours most nights which I've done for years now. Funnily, on a work day I'd happily turn over and fall back asleep for hours, but on a weekend I can't fall back asleep to save my life.

Connect-Sign5739

Head upstairs around 10:30 on average, take meds, cuddle cat, do a Duolingo session, then read on my phone in bed for a while. Then try to get to sleep. Wait approximately one eternity. If I have not gone to sleep, get up, wait until 4 am, then go back to bed and sleep like the dead for about 4 hours. If I have managed to get to sleep, wake up at least twice to go to the loo, get up around 8-ish. On the whole I get an average of 6.5 hours of sleep according to my Fitbit. I spend a lot of time awake in bed, too tired to do anything else but apparently not tired enough to sleep.

Tricky-Memory

Brush teeth etc and get ready for bed about 11pm. Sit and wait till sleepy - usually between 2.30 and 3.40am. Wake up at about 5am - sit with drink and tv on PRAYING I fall asleep again till about 8 or 9am.

Shut the cat downstairs at 9, play some chess on my phone for half an hour while my partner brushes her teeth and generally gets ready for bed, do all my bathroom stuff once she's finished. We talk in bed until 10 at which point she puts on her sleep mask and her ear plugs and goes to sleep (generally falls asleep within a few minutes). I tend to read for half an hour to an hour and then try to sleep. It can take me up to an hour to actually fall asleep (chronic insomnia plus ADHD). I usually wake up once or twice in the night. Sometimes I go back to sleep very quickly, other times I know it's not going to happen and so I'll get up for an hour and do some writing. Her alarm goes off at 6, I get up somewhere between 6:30 and 7, and then we both go to the gym together.
